The article focuses on the telegraphone invented by the Danish engineer Valdemar Poulsen. The cylinder model of the telegraphone was showcased to the general public on the occasion of the "Paris Exhibition of 1900" in France. The invention of Poulsen caught the interest of Wilhelm Exner, director of Vienna's Technologisches Gewerbemuseum when it won the Grand Prix during the exhibition. Moreover, the invention was also presented to Emperor Dom Pedro with the assistance of two representatives from Siemens & Halske, the company that purchased the rights to produce telegraphones in Germany, Austria-Hungary and Russia.
