- Abstract
This article deals with the collection and organization of data related to oral health services in the public and private sectors in the city of Pelotas/RS. It aimed to analyze the geographical distribution of the local Oral Health Care Network. It was generated with secondary data from public services that include dental surgeons, provided by the oral Health Supervision of the Municipal Secretariat of Pelotas (SMSPel), and a list of the private dental services registered in the Service of Health Care Establishment of SMSPel. The data (end; reason/name, municipality; state; country; address, Postal addressing code; branch) was transferred to Microsoft Office Excel® version 2010 program spreadsheets. For geographical positioning was used the program Batch Geocoding Doogal® and for checking the addresses not found outside of headquarters was used Google Earth®/Street View. With QGIS® version 2.18 program were created, edited, visualized and analyzed the geographical information. It was observed that in relation to the public sector, the services that were presented in greater numbers were basic units of health with family health strategy and a dentist. In the private sector the services that were presented in greater numbers were dentist's offices with X-ray machines. Regarding the geographical distribution the concentration in the county seat, especially in the downtown, stands out. Public sector services are better distributed in the municipality and in the city, also in relation to those with lower income. The findings can help the Oral Health Supervision of SMSPel in the planning of new services in order to achieve progress in the management perspective thus improving aspects of equity and accessibility for the population.
