The Herpetologists' League is inviting M.S. or Ph.D. students to compete for the Herpetologists' League Graduate Research Award (HLGRA). To participate, students must be members of the HL, have a completed or nearly completed thesis or dissertation, submit an abstract for the 2024 Joint Meeting of Ichthyologists and Herpetologists (JMIH), and give an oral presentation at the meeting. The student with the top-ranked presentation will receive a cash prize, membership in the HL, and an opportunity to submit a manuscript for publication. The Herpetologists' League has announced the winners of their 2023 awards. Briar Hunter from Laurentian University won the Graduate Research Award for her study on egg binding in the Oregon Spotted Frog. Callie Golba from Northern Illinois University was the first runner up for her research on the survival of Head-Started Blanding's Turtles. Anna Tipton from the University of Texas at El Paso won the Jones-Lovich Grant in Southwestern Herpetology for her study on the influence of artificial light on the predatory behavior of Eastern Black-Tailed Rattlesnakes. Dr. Todd W. Pierson from Kennesaw State University received the Raymond D. Semlitsch Research Award for his proposal on spatial variation in the reproductive tactics of Plethodontid Salamanders.
