A recent study conducted by researchers at Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan, China, focused on chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and its treatment. The study examined the efficacy of third-generation tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) in patients with CML and acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). The researchers used next-generation sequencing (NGS) to analyze the mutations in the ABL1 kinase domain (KD) during different stages of the disease. They found that certain mutations were associated with a higher risk of relapse and that third-generation TKIs showed promise in terms of achieving deep molecular response, rapid remission reduction, and reduced relapse risk.
