Abstract

The article discusses a study which explored the extreme mass loss of ice sheets based from observations of PROMICE weather stations in Greenland. The study uses atmospheric temperatures and surface solar, known as albedo, which darken the ice-sheets surface. It also suggests that the meltdown may enhance ice mass loss because of ice dynamics such as warming of the ice matrix and basal lubrication.
