Abstract

The normal postnatal growth is dependent on the activity of glucocorticoid receptor function in hepatocytes. The glucocorticoid receptor stat 5 undergoes tetramerization to mediate the transcription of genes involved in the growth regulation.

Abstract

Mice carrying a hepatocyte-specific inactivation of the glucocorticoid receptor (GR) gene show a dramatic reduction in body size. Study reveals that the model in which GR acts as a coactivation for stat5-dependant transcription upon GH stimulation and reveal an essential role of hepatic GR in the control of body growth.
