Abstract

A new report discusses research findings on cystic fibrosis, specifically focusing on the long-term effects of CFTR modulator therapy on health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in adults with cystic fibrosis. The study evaluated the HRQoL and clinical parameters of individuals with and without CFTR modulator therapy over a period of several years. The results showed that CFTR modulator therapy had a positive effect on HRQoL and clinical outcomes over time, particularly in the physical domains. Abstract

A recent study conducted at University Hospital in Essen, Germany, explored the effects of a triple CFTR modulator therapy called elexacaftor/tezacaftor/ivacaftor (ETI) on cystic fibrosis (CF)-associated inflammation. The study found that after six months of ETI therapy, there were significant decreases in plasma levels of certain chemokines associated with neutrophilic inflammation. These findings suggest that ETI therapy has anti-inflammatory properties and may provide clinical benefits for individuals with CF.
