Abstract

compared, change of risk group occurred in 60 gastric GISTs and numbers were group A (very low risk: 15.1% vs 76.7%), group B (low risk: 61.6% vs 13.7%), group C (moderate risk: 9.2% vs 8.2%), and group D (high risk: 4.1% vs 1.4%). There was no change of risk group in small bowel GISTs and proportions were 0%, 37.1%, 22.2%, and 40.7% in group A, B, C, and D respectively. Recurrence after complete resection occurred in 6 cases after mean follow-up period of 30.6 months. Three gastric GISTs (2/6 group C, 1/1 group D) and three small bowel GISTs (1/6 group C, 2/11 group D) metastasized. They belonged to same risk group by both grading systems.
