Abstract
The article discusses the January 2024 U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) report which examined the impact of ransomware attacks on critical infrastructure sectors such as energy and health care. It explored the recorded increase in the value of U.S. ransomware-related incidents in 2021, the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) guidance in addressing ransomware, and the ransomware support offered by the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA).
