Objective: To develop and validate a survey aimed at epidemiologists to measure factors associated with vaccine reluctance., Method: Vaccination hesitancy refers to delayed acceptance or refusal of vaccination despite the availability of vaccination services. WHO included vaccination hesitancy among the 10 global health threats in 2019. Within this conceptual framework proposed by WHO, a committee of six experts from the Spanish Society of Epidemiology (SEE) designed a self-administered questionnaire to study factors associated with vaccination hesitancy in epidemiologists. This questionnaire was approved by the SEE Board, and was sent online to all members in 2019. Based on the responses obtained, the following characteristics were validated: face validity, internal validity, construct validity, criterion validity, reliability, as well as the characteristic curves of each item and the information function per item and overall., Results: The final questionnaire showed two well-defined components, perception of vaccines and confidence in the transparency of vaccine data with high degrees of fit in all aspects of validation. Both components have shown that the higher the reluctance to vaccinate the better the questionnaire reports on these aspects., Conclusions: The study has allowed the development of a validated instrument in Spanish to measure the factors associated with vaccine reluctance among epidemiologists., (Copyright © 2023 SESPAS. The objective of the prospective cohort study (the DESKcohort project) is to describe and monitor health, health behaviors, and their related factors among 12 and 19-year-old adolescents schooled at centers of Compulsory Secondary Education or post-compulsory secondary education in Central Catalonia, considering social determinants of health. The DESKcohort survey is administered biannually between the months of October and June, and the project has been running for three years. We have interviewed 7319 and 9265 adolescents in the academic years 2019/20 and 2021/22, respectively. They responded a questionnaire created by a committee of experts, that included the following variables: sociodemographic factors, physical and mental health, food, physical activity, leisure and mobility, substance use, interpersonal relationships, sexuality, screen use and digital entertainment, and gambling. The results are presented to educational centers, county councils, municipalities, and health and third sector entities to plan, implement, and evaluate prevention and health promotion actions that address the identified needs., (Copyright © 2023 SESPAS. Objective: To estimate mortality and the incidence of formal complaints of intimate partner violence (IPV) by age groups and Spanish provinces., Methods: We performed a descriptive, epidemiological study of murders by intimate partners registered in the database of the Divorced and Separated Women's Federation (1998-2001) and of formal complaints of IPV in The Home Affairs database (1997-2000). The percentage of increase in formal complaints and deaths and the individual risk of dying from IPV and of reporting this crime was calculated through the simple accumulative method, specific mortality rates by age, average rates by provinces, and specific incidence rates of formal complaints of IPV by provinces. Finally, a simple regression analysis was performed to assess the relation between mortality and the incidence of formal complaints of IPV., Results: Between the first and the last year of the study, formal complaints increased by 27% and murders increased by 49%. In Spain, during the period analyzed, one out of every 100,000 women was murdered by an intimate partner and one out of every 200 women reported IPV. Women aged 22-41 years and those aged 82-86 years presented the highest rates of mortality from IPV. Mortality from IPV and the incidence of formal complaints of IPV showed no clear geographical pattern. No correlation between mortality and the incidence of formal complaints of IPV by provinces was found (corrected r2 = 0.016)., Conclusions: IPV is an increasing public health problem in Spain. There seems to be a bimodal curve by age in mortality from IPV, but no geographical patterns in mortality and the incidence of formal complaints of IPV or between the provinces with the highest incidence of formal complains and those with highest mortality were observed.

Objective: The Hospital Morbidity Survey (HMS) is the only national level systematic statistic of morbidity attended in Spanish hospitals. The aim of this work is to describe publications related with HMS., Methods: A review was carried out of Spanish scientific literature by means of an automatic literature search with the Spanish Medical Index (1971-1993), completed manually., Results: 31 publications were found related to the HMS of which 10 are applied works directly using its results, other 13 publications deal with the quality (compliance diagnosis agreement between sources or others) of the HMS and 8 are reflections on the utility and limitations of the survey., Conclusions: Despite de number of scientific articles that use the HMS represents an underestimation of the real use of HMS, we conclude that the scientific utilization of HMS is very low.
