Abstract: In this paper we deal with the construction of global fuzzy preference structures from two-parameter single-criterion fuzzy outranking relations proposed in [10] and which are based on the aggregation of outranking indices associated with -cuts. We consider two ways of constructing global fuzzy preference structures: (i) aggregate the two-parameter single-criterion fuzzy outranking relations and then construct the global fuzzy preference structures and (ii) construct global fuzzy preference structures and then aggregate the single-criterion fuzzy preference, indifference and incomparability relations. We also investigate the case where these two ways of proceeding lead to the same results. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
Sequential pattern-recognition systems check whether data strings, e.g., time series, exhibit certain pattern primitives in a specified order. As in the case of most other pattern-recognition methods, either conventional methods or fuzzy systems may be used here. This paper presents a sequential pattern-recognition system employing recurrent fuzzy systems that is employed as a monitoring system on continuous-casting systems in the steel industry worldwide. Taking that application as a starting point, a general method for sequential pattern recognition in time series that uses recurrent fuzzy systems is described. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
This paper focuses on the reliable fuzzy control design problem for fuzzy control systems with time delay. Based on linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach, a method for designing a reliable fuzzy controller is presented. The resulting fuzzy control systems are reliable in the sense that asymptotic stability is achieved not only when all control components are operating well, but also in the presence of some component failures. A reliable fuzzy control design scheme via state feedback is proposed in terms of LMIs. The result is extended to the case of observer-based reliable fuzzy control. Two illustrative examples are given to illustrate the validity of the proposed design procedures. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]
