A study conducted by researchers at Hunan Agricultural University in China explored the effects of grape peel phenolics (GPP) on lipid accumulation in sodium palmitate-treated HepG2 cells. The researchers found that GPP supplementation significantly reduced triglyceride levels and reactive oxygen species (ROS) production in the cells. They also observed that GPP downregulated the expression of lipogenesis factors and upregulated the expression of lipolysis factors, leading to a reduction in lipid accumulation and oxidative stress.
