Editorial. Presents papers collected on the occasion of the 7th International Symposium on Ferroic Domains and Mesoscopic Structures (ISFD) that was held in Giens, France in September 2002. Constant evolution in the field of Ferroic Domains and Mesoscopic Structures; Information related to forthcoming ISFD.

The article profiles Jan Fousek and Václav Janovec, two colleagues to whom the volume of "Ferroelectrics" is dedicated. Accordingly, Fousek became heads of the Department and he has enjoyed a warm personal relationship until his death in 2008. Janovec however, was invited as a visiting professor to the University of Dijon in Dijon, France and later on several occasions and also to the Universities of Montpellier, Karlsruhe and Rennes.

The article highlights the 8th European Conference on Applications of Polar Dielectrics held in Metz, France on September 5-8, 2006. According to the author, the conference was attended by 197 participants from academic, government and industrial laboratories. The topics covered during the conference sessions and their respective speakers are also discussed.

Editorial. Focuses on the Ferroelectric Thin Films 2002 Workshop (FTF 2002) and the Second Open Franco-Ukrainian Meeting on Ferroelectricity (FUMF-2), held at Dinard, France in October 2002. Features of both meetings; Number of scientists which attended FTF 2002 and FUMF-2; Issues related to ferroelectricity, ferroelectric thin films and its applications discussed at both meetings.
