- Abstract
OBJECTIVE: To investigate the characteristics and regularities of adverse drug reactions (ADR) in Jiangsu Donghai County People’s Hospital (hereinafter referred to as “our hospital”) , so as to provide reference for clinical rational drug application. METHODS: Retrospectively analysis was conducted on 314 cases of ADR reports in terms of types, patients’ genders and ages, ADR-inducing administration routes and drugs, ADR involved organs and (or) systems and its main clinical features, ADR prognoses and the relevance evaluations of ADR. RESULTS: Among the 314 reports of ADR, 171 cases were general ADR (54. 46% ) , 41 cases were severe ADR ( 13. 06% ) , 102 cases were new and severe ADR (32.48%); the number of male patients was slightly more than that of females; most patients aged ≤ 3; most ADR were induced by intravenous drip, the second was oral administration and intravenous injection. 86 kinds of 11 categories of drugs were involved in the 314 reports of ADR, the top 3 ADR-inducing drugs were respectively antibiotics, traditional Chinese medicine and drugs for nervous system; among reports of ADR induced by antibiotics, the top 3 were respectively cephalosporins, macrolides and fluoroquinolones. ADR mainly involved skin and its accessories, the second were digestive system and circulatory system. Of the relevance evaluations, 80 cases were “definitely” (25.48%), 52 cases were “possible” (16.56%), 182 cases were “probably” (57.96%). All patients were cured or went better after treatment. CONCLUSIONS: The occurrence of ADR was related to various factors, ADR reporting and monitoring on medication should be reinforced; clinical pharmacists should lake active participation in clinical treatment to promote rational medication.
