Gastric tube formation is a surgical technique to reestablish the continuity of the gastrointestinal tract after esophagectomy. However, the blood supply to the anastomotic area of the stomach roll may be significantly compromised due to surgery. The experiments were performed on anesthetized mongrel dogs. Microcirculation may be significantly compromised during gastric pull-up at the proximal part of the gastric tube. Thoracic epidural anesthesia significantly improves microcirculation of the distal portion of the gastric tube and increases the intestinal motility.
