Introduction Alcohol consumption is a risk factor for various comorbidities, such as cirrhosis, chronic sclerosing stomatitis, and neuropsychiatric disorders. Objectives Our study examined the associations between psychological factors and alcohol addiction of the individuals with alcohol use disorder (AUD) in Southern Taiwan. Methods Demographic information as well as suicidal history and sources of stress were collected from 177 participants. The extent of alcoholism was assessed by AUDIT questionnaire. Demographic and linear regression analyses were performed with the Statistical Software Stata version 12.0 (StataCorp LP, College Station, TX, USA). Results Demographic data, suicidal history and the causes of stress of patients divided by AUDIT scores are shown in Table 1. Among 177 participants, 17 (9.6%) had suicidal thoughts, 4 (2.3%) had suicide plan, 22 (12.5%) self-injured, and four-fifth of patients lived under pressure. Patients who self-harmed were with significant lower AUDIT scores of -7.24 (95% CI: -11.49 – -3.00) (Table. 2). The AUDIT scores of patients with physical stress, interpersonal difficulties and loneliness increased significantly by 6.71 (95% CI: 3.19 – 10.30), 6.14 (95% CI: 2.15 – 10.13) and 5.02 (95% CI: 0.93 – 9.11), respectively (Table. 3). Conclusions Our findings indicated negative correlation with alcohol use and auto-inflicted injury. However, previous study showed systematic assessment of the association between suicide and AUD, and considered alcohol an important risk factor for suicide, which is related to mental health and affected by different genders and drinking patterns. Our results may provide reference for estimation of the alcohol-related psychological effects in Taiwan. Disclosure No significant relationships.

Introduction Since COVID19 pandemic emergence, containment measure have been taken by the Tunisian government imposing a new lifestyle resulting in psychological repercussions and a change in behavior. Methods This is a qualitative, descriptive and analytical cross-sectional study realized between April and May 2020 with the general public using an anonymous online questionnaire covering: socio-demographic data; behavior during confinement; epidemic psychological impact; Mental health status was measured using Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale(DASS-21). Anger level was assessed by STAXI-10 items. Results 132 responses were received: 68.2% were women; the average age 32.01(±11.10); half were single; 77.3% were at higher education level; 41.7% were healthcare professionnels. Introduction The COVID-19 pandemic impacted daily life worldwide. It may also have had a psychological impact, especially on those with less resources already before the crisis and those who reported substantial changes to their work situation. Objectives To investigate whether socioeconomic status before the crisis and changes in work situation during the crisis (unemployment, home-office) are associated with psychological impact in a cohort of young Swiss men. Methods A total of 2345 young Swiss men (mean age = 29) completed assessments shortly before (April 2019 to February 2020) and early during the COVID-19 crisis (May to June 2020). Assessments covered psychological outcomes assessed before and during COVID-19 crisis (depression, perceived stress and sleep quality), and assessed during the crisis (fear, isolation and COVID-19 psychological trauma), socioeconomic status (relative financial status and difficulty to pay bills) before the crisis and changes in work situation (unemployment, home-office). Results About a fifth of the sample were in partial unemployment or lost their job during COVID-19 crisis. Those in partial or full unemployment, those mostly working from home and those with a lower socioeconomic status already prior to the crisis showed overall higher levels of depression, stress, psychological trauma, fear and isolation. Conclusions Even in a country with high social security such as Switzerland, the COVID-19 crisis had a higher psychological impact on those who were already disadvantaged before the crisis or experienced deteriorations in their work situation. Supporting disadvantaged subpopulations during the crisis may help to prevent an amplification of pre-existing inequalities. Disclosure No significant relationships.

Our University General Hospital, Policlinico of “Tor Vergata” (PTV) in Rome, has become a Covid Hub in order to manage the spread of the epidemic. Thus, our Psychiatric Emergency Service (PES)’s access has been partially limited. Direct indicators of PES activity, as admission rates, can be useful for evaluating the psychological impact of Covid epidemic. Objectives To assess psychiatric admittance rates to PES of PTV before and during Covid-19 global pandemic. Methods Data from our PES register have been obtained and analyzed. We compared all the psychiatric access during the trimester March – May 2019 and 2020. All patients have been characterized according to clinical features. Results A marked reduction of the number of patients presenting to PES has been observed (76 patients) in the 57-day period (March 11–May 04, 2020) of lockdown compared to the same period in 2019 (266 patients). The cutback was visible for all diagnostic groups, except for “Borderline Personality Disorder” diagnosis which have slightly increased. On the other hand, hospitalization rates in our psychiatric inpatients unit remained steady. Conclusions Although larger study are needed to understand the mental consequences of the lockdown experience, people’s fear of potential infection might explain our results. Interestingly, personality disorder patients represent an exception to it, suggesting the importance of the clinical characteristics of fearless, engagement in dangerous behavior and detachment from reality. These findings might be helpful to improve psychosocial crisis interventions during the pandemic.

One of the traits that has not been studied yet, but can play a harmful role in the COVID-19 psychological impact is perfectionism. This trait, characterized by setting excessively high standards of performance and striving for flawlessness, has increased in recent years and is considered a transdiagnostic process involved in several (mental) health problems (Curran & Hill 2019). Results: Both groups did not differ (p>0.05) in sex, having COVID-19 symptoms, having family/friends infected, or income changes. While youngsters were single more frequently (68.8% vs 14.3%, X² = 179.7, p<0.001), elders had somatic illness more frequently (64.8% vs 39.7% X² =30.401, p<0.001). Youngsters obtained higher scores in depression (4.69 vs 4.1, T=5.413, p<0.001), anxiety (2.86 vs 1.97, T=5.249, p<0.001) and stress (4.48 vs 3.17, T=6.355, p<0.001) DASS-21 subscales, as in intrusive (3.42 vs 3.05, T=1.984, p=0.048) and avoidant (4.64 vs 4.11, T=3.056, p=0.002) IES scores. Conclusions: Despite the group of elders with depression being more vulnerable to severe COVID-19 disease and presenting more frequently somatic comorbidities, younger depressive patients suffered more from depressive, anxiety, stress and avoidant symptoms and intrusive thoughts, in line with previous reports in the general population. Partners relationship was deteriorated in1.7% and improved in 25%. Child abuse increased by 13.7%. During confinement: 15.9%depression (0.8%severe depression), 12.9%anxiety (0.8%severe anxiety), 5.3% stress and 27.3%feelings of anger. Depression, anxiety and anger were related to younger age(p<0.05). Stress wasn't age related. Depression was observed in participants without children (p<0.05). No association founded between psychological impact and gender, profession and civil status. Conclusions: The COVID19 pandemic and the containment had consequences on individuals behavior and mental health. Introduction: Sexual assault is a public health problem worldwide that can be seen both in adult and in child. Objectives: This study aims to determinate the sociodemographic profile of child victims of sexual abuse. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted at the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Department of Mongi Slim Hospital (Tunisia). We included all cases of patients followed for sexual abuse from January 2013 until June 2019. Data was collected from patients' records. Results: A total of 150 cases was collected with a sex ratio of 0.66. The age ranged from 2 to 18 years old with a mean age of 9.4 years. Concerning the order among their siblings: 31% of our patients were the first, 17% the second, 33% were the youngest and 12% were the only child in their families. Twenty percent of victims lives with parents having conflictual relationship Only 6% of the victims had a mental disability. We find that 28% had scholar difficulties and 17% had excellent results. Concerning familiar characteristics, parents were married in 76%, separated in 12%, and divorced in 12%. 37% of their parents suffer of chronic disease. The familial socioeconomic level was low in 24,66 %. Conclusions: A better knowledge of the sociodemographic profile of the sexual abused children will allow us to have a better psychiatric care in the future. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
