We study the quantum conversion from light to ultracold triatomic molecules by using a quantized photoassociation light. Our results show that molecular matter-wave squeezing can be obtained for both homo- and hetero-nuclear trimers and are also compared with the previously studied case of creating dimers. We report on the simultaneous transport of mixed quantum degenerate gases of bosonic 87Rb and fermionic 40 K in a harmonic potential. The samples are transported over a distance of $6~{\rm mm}$ to the geometric center of a Ioffe-Pritchard type magnetic trap. This transport mechanism was implemented by modification of the QUIC trap and is free of losses and heating. It significantly extends the capabilities of this trap design. We demonstrate a launching mechanism for quantum degenerate samples and show that highly homogeneous magnetic fields can be created in the center of the QUIC trap. The transport mechanism may also be cascaded to cover even larger distances for interferometric experiments with quantum degenerate samples. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We study electron-atom scattering in the presence of a laser field with elliptic polarization. We discuss the dependence of the differential cross sections for the cases of circular and linear polarizations as a function of scattering angle. Interesting typical signatures of the phase between the two components of the circular polarization of the laser field appear in the differential cross section. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
