Search

It was demonstrated in a series of papers employing unitarized chiral perturbation theory that the phenomenology of the scalar open-charm state, the D 0 ∗ (2300) , can be understood as the interplay of two poles, corresponding to two scalar-isospin doublet states with different SU(3) flavor content. Within this formalism the lightest open charm positive parity states emerge as being dynamically generated from the scattering of the Goldstone-boson octet off D mesons, a picture that at the same time solves various problems that the experimental observations posed. However, in recent lattice studies of D π scattering at different pion masses only one pole was reported in the D 0 ∗ channel, while it was not possible to extract reliable parameters of a second pole from the lattice data. In this paper we demonstrate how this seeming contradiction can be understood and that imposing SU(3) constraints on the fitting amplitudes allows one to extract information on the second pole from the lattice data with minimal bias. This paper presents a search for dark matter, χ , using events with a single top quark and an energetic W boson. The analysis is based on proton–proton collision data collected with the ATLAS experiment at s = 13 TeV during LHC Run 2 (2015–2018), corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb - 1 . The search considers final states with zero or one charged lepton (electron or muon), at least one b-jet and large missing transverse momentum. In addition, a result from a previous search considering two-charged-lepton final states is included in the interpretation of the results. The data are found to be in good agreement with the Standard Model predictions and the results are interpreted in terms of 95% confidence-level exclusion limits in the context of a class of dark matter models involving an extended two-Higgs-doublet sector together with a pseudoscalar mediator particle. The search is particularly sensitive to on-shell production of the charged Higgs boson state, H ± , arising from the two-Higgs-doublet mixing, and its semi-invisible decays via the mediator particle, a: H ± → W ± a (→ χ χ) . Signal models with H ± masses up to 1.5 TeV and a masses up to 350 GeV are excluded assuming a tan β value of 1. For masses of a of 150 (250) GeV, tan β values up to 2 are excluded for H ± masses between 200 (400) GeV and 1.5 TeV. A search for pair production of doubly charged Higgs bosons ( H ± ± ), each decaying into a pair of prompt, isolated, and highly energetic leptons with the same electric charge, is presented. The search uses a proton–proton collision data sample at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb - 1 recorded by the ATLAS detector during Run 2 of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). This analysis focuses on same-charge leptonic decays, H ± ± → ℓ ± ℓ ′ ± where ℓ , ℓ ′ = e , μ , τ , in two-, three-, and four-lepton channels, but only considers final states which include electrons or muons. No evidence of a signal is observed. Corresponding upper limits on the production cross-section of a doubly charged Higgs boson are derived, as a function of its mass m (H ± ±) , at 95% confidence level. Assuming that the branching ratios to each of the possible leptonic final states are equal, B (H ± ± → e ± e ±) = B (H ± ± → e ± μ ±) = B (H ± ± → μ ± μ ±) = B (H ± ± → e ± τ ±) = B (H ± ± → μ ± τ ±) = B (H ± ± → τ ± τ ±) = 1 / 6 , the observed (expected) lower limit on the mass of a doubly charged Higgs boson is 1080 GeV (1065 GeV) within the left-right symmetric type-II seesaw model, which is the strongest limit to date produced by the ATLAS Collaboration. Additionally, this paper provides the first direct test of the Zee–Babu neutrino mass model at the LHC, yielding an observed (expected) lower limit of m (H ± ±) = 900 GeV (880 GeV). The Higgs portal interaction to a singlet sector of the standard model (SM) gauge group is widely-studied. In this paper, we show that a quantum effect is important if the Higgs field mixes with another singlet scalar field whose decay rate is larger than the mass difference between the two mass eigenstates. This effect may be interpreted as the "quantum Zeno effect" by defining the (would-be) decay process of the singlet scalar as the measurement. In either the quantum mechanics or the quantum field theory, we show that the resulting propagating mode is not the eigenstate of the mass matrix, but it is approximately the eigenstate of the interaction. As a consequence, the decoupling of the mixing effect happens at the infinity limit of the decay width of the exotic scalar even if the naïve mixing parameter is not small. With a finite decay width of the exotic scalar, we derive the effective mass of the propagating mode in the SM sector, its decay rate, and the couplings at the 1-loop level. It turns out that the mixed mass eigenstates can mimic the discovered 125 GeV Higgs boson. This fuzzy Higgs boson can be obtained in a simple perturbative renormalizable model when the mass difference is smaller than O(0.1)GeV (O(1) GeV, O(10)GeV) for O(1) (O(0.01), O(0.001)) mixing to be consistent with the 125 GeV SM Higgs boson. We argue the possible natural scenario for the tiny mass splitting and the possibility that the upper bound of the mass difference is larger for a strongly-coupled singlet sector. To probe the fuzzy Higgs boson scenario, it is difficult to directly produce the singlet sector particles. Nevertheless, the future Higgs factories may probe this scenario by precisely measuring the Higgs boson invisible decay rate and the deviation of the Higgs coupling. This paper reports a search for Higgs boson pair (hh) production in association with a vector boson ( W o r Z ) using 139 fb - 1 of proton–proton collision data at s = 13 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The search is performed in final states in which the vector boson decays leptonically ( W → ℓ ν , Z → ℓ ℓ , ν ν with ℓ = e , μ ) and the Higgs bosons each decay into a pair of b-quarks. It targets Vhh signals from both non-resonant hh production, present in the Standard Model (SM), and resonant hh production, as predicted in some SM extensions. A 95% confidence-level upper limit of 183 (87) times the SM cross-section is observed (expected) for non-resonant Vhh production when assuming the kinematics are as expected in the SM. Constraints are also placed on Higgs boson coupling modifiers. For the resonant search, upper limits on the production cross-sections are derived for two specific models: one is the production of a vector boson along with a neutral heavy scalar resonance H, in the mass range 260–1000 GeV, that decays into hh, and the other is the production of a heavier neutral pseudoscalar resonance A that decays into a Z boson and H boson, where the A boson mass is 360–800 GeV and the H boson mass is 260–400 GeV. This paper presents a statistical combination of searches targeting final states with two top quarks and invisible particles, characterised by the presence of zero, one or two leptons, at least one jet originating from a b-quark and missing transverse momentum. The analyses are searches for phenomena beyond the Standard Model consistent with the direct production of dark matter in pp collisions at the LHC, using 139 fb - 1 of data collected with the ATLAS detector at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The results are interpreted in terms of simplified dark matter models with a spin-0 scalar or pseudoscalar mediator particle. In addition, the results are interpreted in terms of upper limits on the Higgs boson invisible branching ratio, where the Higgs boson is produced according to the Standard Model in association with a pair of top quarks. For scalar (pseudoscalar) dark matter models, with all couplings set to unity, the statistical combination extends the mass range excluded by the best of the individual channels by 50 (25) GeV, excluding mediator masses up to 370 GeV. In addition, the statistical combination improves the expected coupling exclusion reach by 14% (24%), assuming a scalar (pseudoscalar) mediator mass of 10 GeV. This paper discusses the origin of the small parameters with the aim of explaining the Hierarchy problem. The flexible extra dimensions are an essential tool in the process by which physical parameters are formed. The evolution of a multidimensional metric starts at the Planck scale and is completed with the static extra-dimensional metric and the 4-dim de Sitter space at high energies, where the exponential production of causally disconnected universes begins. Quantum fluctuations independently distort the metric within these universes, causing inflationary processes within them. Some of these universes tend asymptotically towards states characterised by small Hubble parameters. The effective parameter reduction applied to the Higgs sector of the Standard Model is explained by the presence of small-amplitude distributions of a scalar field in a fraction of these universes. In this paper, we explore the collider phenomenology of charged Higgs bosons in the context of a generic Beyond Standard Model scenario with extended gauge and scalar sectors. In such scenarios, the charged Higgs boson can decay via the W ′ Z / W Z ′ channels. We formulate a search strategy for the H ± in the channel σ (g b → H ± t) B R (H ± → W ′ Z) considering the interesting cascade decay chain H ± → W ′ Z → W ± Z Z . We find that the charged Higgs can be discovered in final states with multiple hard leptons and/or b-quarks which future LHC experiments with sufficiently large luminosity ( L = 1000 fb - 1 and above) can probe. We then study the phenomenological implications of our findings in the context of a generic toy model with a H ± as well as in a more realistic electroweak symmetry breaking scenario. With the grand desert hypothesis, we have proposed to probe the supersymmetric Grand Unified Theories (GUTs) at the future proton–proton (pp) colliders and Hyper-Kamiokande experiment previously. In this paper, we study the supersymmetric GUTs with gravity mediated supersymmetry breaking in details. First, considering the dimension-six proton decay via heavy gauge boson exchange, we point out that we can probe the supersymmetric GUTs with GUT scale M GUT up to 1.778 × 10 16 GeV at the Hyper-Kamiokande experiment. Second, for the supersymmetric GUTs with M GUT ≥ 1.0 × 10 16 GeV and M GUT ≥ 1.2 × 10 16 GeV, we show that the upper bounds on the universal gaugino mass are 7.2 TeV and 3.5 TeV, respectively, and thus the corresponding upper bounds on gluino mass are 15 TeV and 8 TeV, respectively. Also, we shall study the masses for charginos, neutralinos, squarks, sleptons, and Higgs particles in details. In particular, the supersymmetric GUTs with M GUT ≤ 1.2 × 10 16 GeV can be probed at the Hyper-Kamiokande experiment, and the supersymmetric GUTs with M GUT ≥ 1.2 × 10 16 GeV can be probed at the future 100 TeV pp collider experiments such as the FCC hh and SppC via gluino searches. Thus, the supersymmetric GUTs with gravity mediation can be probed by the FCC hh , SppC, and Hyper-Kamiokande experiments. In our previous study, we have shown that the supersymmetric GUTs with anomaly and gauge mediated supersymmetry breakings are well within the reaches of these experiments. The questions of the origin of electroweak symmetry breaking and neutrino mass are two major puzzles in particle physics. Neutrino mass generation requires new physics beyond the Standard Model and also suggests reconsideration of physics of symmetry breaking. The aim of this paper is to study radiative symmetry breaking in the singlet scalar extension of type II seesaw neutrino mass model. We derive bounded-from-below conditions for the scalar potential of the model in full generality for the first time. The Gildener–Weinberg approach is utilised in minimising the multiscalar potential. Upon imposing the bounded-from-below and perturbativity conditions, as well as experimental constraints from colliders, we find the parameter space of scalar quartic couplings that can radiatively realise electroweak symmetry breaking at one-loop level. To satisfy all the constraints, the masses of the heavy triplet-like Higgs bosons must be nearly degenerate. Recently we presented the upgrade of our code BSMPT for the calculation of the electroweak phase transition (EWPT) to BSMPT v2 which now includes the computation of the baryon asymmetry of the universe (BAU) in the CP-violating 2-Higgs-Doublet Model (C2HDM). In this paper we use BSMPT v2 to investigate the size of the BAU that is obtained in the C2HDM with the two implemented approaches FH and VIA to derive the transport equations, by taking into account all relevant theoretical and experimental constraints. We identify similarities and differences in the results computed with the two methods. In particular, we analyse the dependence of the obtained BAU on the parameters relevant for successful baryogenesis. Our investigations allow us to pinpoint future directions for improvements both in the computation of the BAU and in possible avenues taken for model building. In this paper, we take into account the Gribov copies present in 3D Yang–Mills–Higgs theory with a constant vector background whose presence breaks the Lorentz symmetry. The constant vector background is introduced within the non-Abelian aether term. Here, we show that this term arises as a one-loop correction. The influence of the aether coupling constant on the system is treated afterwards. As a result, we find that for some values of it the theory can be driven from a nonperturbative regime to a perturbative one. The new results on the muon anomalous magnetic moment (AMM) published by Fermilab in 2021 did not lead to a reduction of its long-pending deviation from the Standard Model (SM) value by more than 4 σ . The explanation of this discrepancy by adding new particles to the theory puts many new physics models under tension when combined with the null results of the LHC direct searches for new particles. In this paper, we investigate the CP-violating Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric extension of the SM (NMSSM) with and without an inverse seesaw mechanism. We compute the one-loop supersymmetric contributions to the AMM and the two-loop Barr–Zee-type diagrams with effective Higgs couplings to photons for the leptonic electric dipole moments (EDMs). The effects of the extended (s)neutrino sector on the muon AMM and on the mass of the SM-like Higgs boson can be significant. Complex phases can have an important impact on the AMM. On the other hand, the stringent limits from the EDMs on the complex phases have to be taken into account. Our calculations have been implemented in the Fortran codes NMSSMCALC and NMSSMCALC-nuSS which are publicly available. Besides the leptonic AMMs and EDMs, these programs can compute the Higgs boson masses and mixings, together with Higgs boson decay widths and branching ratios taking into account the most up-to-date higher-order corrections in the NMSSM with and without inverse seesaw mechanism. The heavy, doublet-dominated Higgs bosons expected in Two-Higgs-Doublet-Model-like extensions of the Standard Model are obvious targets for searches at high-energy colliders, and considerable activity in this sense is currently employed in analyzing the results of the Large Hadron Collider. For sufficiently heavy states, the S U (2) L symmetry drastically constrains the decays of these new scalars. In models that contain only additional Higgs doublets, fermionic decay channels are expected to dominate, although some bosonic modes may lead to cleaner signals. The situation is very different if the Higgs sector is further extended by singlet states and the singlet-dominated scalars are kinematically accessible, in which case the Higgs-to-Higgs widths may even become dominant. Yet, a quantitative interpretation of the experimental data in terms of a specific model also runs through the control of radiative corrections in this model. In this paper, we examine the bosonic decays of the heavy, doublet-dominated Higgs states in the MSSM and the NMSSM at full one-loop order, insisting on the impact of the S U (2) L symmetry and the effects of infrared type, in particular, the emergence of sizable non-resonant contributions to the three-boson final states. With the ever growing amount of data collected by the ATLAS and CMS experiments at the CERN LHC, fiducial and differential measurements of the Higgs boson production cross section have become important tools to test the standard model predictions with an unprecedented level of precision, as well as seeking deviations that can manifest the presence of physics beyond the standard model. These measurements are in general designed for being easily comparable to any present or future theoretical prediction, and to achieve this goal it is important to keep the model dependence to a minimum. Nevertheless, the reduction of the model dependence usually comes at the expense of the measurement precision, preventing to exploit the full potential of the signal extraction procedure. In this paper a novel methodology based on the machine learning concept of domain adaptation is proposed, which allows using a complex deep neural network in the signal extraction procedure while ensuring a minimal dependence of the measurements on the theoretical modeling of the signal. This paper presents studies of Bose–Einstein correlations (BEC) in proton–proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, using data from the ATLAS detector at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. Data were collected in a special low-luminosity configuration with a minimum-bias trigger and a high-multiplicity track trigger, accumulating integrated luminosities of 151 μ b - 1 and 8.4 nb - 1 , respectively. The BEC are measured for pairs of like-sign charged particles, each with | η | < 2.5 , for two kinematic ranges: the first with particle p T > 100 MeV and the second with particle p T > 500 MeV. The BEC parameters, characterizing the source radius and particle correlation strength, are investigated as functions of charged-particle multiplicity (up to 300) and average transverse momentum of the pair (up to 1.5 GeV). The double-differential dependence on charged-particle multiplicity and average transverse momentum of the pair is also studied. The BEC radius is found to be independent of the charged-particle multiplicity for high charged-particle multiplicity (above 100), confirming a previous observation at lower energy. This paper presents a measurement of the electroweak production of two jets in association with a Z γ pair, with the Z boson decaying into two neutrinos. It also presents a search for invisible or partially invisible decays of a Higgs boson with a mass of 125 GeV produced through vector-boson fusion with a photon in the final state. These results use data from LHC proton–proton collisions at s = 13 TeV collected with the ATLAS detector and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb - 1 . The event signature, shared by all benchmark processes considered for the measurements and searches, is characterized by a significant amount of unbalanced transverse momentum and a photon in the final state, in addition to a pair of forward jets. Electroweak Z γ production in association with two jets is observed in this final state with a significance of 5.2 (5.1 expected) standard deviations. The measured fiducial cross-section for this process is 1.31 ± 0.29 fb. An observed (expected) upper limit of 0.37 ( 0. 34 - 0.10 + 0.15 ) at 95% confidence level is set on the branching ratio of a 125 GeV Higgs boson to invisible particles, assuming the Standard Model production cross-section. The signature is also interpreted in the context of decays of a Higgs boson into a photon and a dark photon. An observed (expected) 95% CL upper limit on the branching ratio for this decay is set at 0.018 ( 0. 017 - 0.005 + 0.007 ), assuming the Standard Model production cross-section for a 125 GeV Higgs boson. Higgs-portal effective field theories are widely used as benchmarks in order to interpret collider and astroparticle searches for dark matter (DM) particles. To assess the validity of these effective models, it is important to confront them to concrete realizations that are complete in the ultraviolet regime. In this paper, we compare effective Higgs-portal models with scalar, fermionic and vector DM with a series of increasingly complex realistic models, taking into account all existing constraints from collider and astroparticle physics. These complete realizations include the inert doublet with scalar DM, the singlet-doublet model for fermionic DM and models based on spontaneously broken dark SU(2) and SU(3) gauge symmetries for vector boson DM. We also discuss the simpler scenarios in which a new scalar singlet field that mixes with the standard Higgs field is introduced with minimal couplings to isosinglet spin- 0 , 1 2 and 1 DM states. We show that in large regions of the parameter space of these models, the effective Higgs-portal approach provides a consistent limit and thus, can be safely adopted, in particular for the interpretation of searches for invisible Higgs boson decays at the LHC. The future compact linear collider (CLIC) offers a possibility for a rich precision physics programme, in particular in the Higgs sector through the energy staging. This is the first paper addressing the measurement of the standard model Higgs boson decay into two muons at 1.4 TeV CLIC. With respect to similar studies at future linear colliders, this paper includes several novel contributions to the statistical uncertainty of the measurement. The latter includes the equivalent photon approximation employed to describe $$e^+e^-$$ and $$e\gamma $$ interactions whenever the virtuality of the mediated photon is smaller than 4 GeV and realistic forward electron tagging based on energy deposition maps in the forward calorimeters, as well as several processes with the Beamstrahlung photons that results in irreducible contribution to the signal. In addition, coincidence of the Bhabha scattering with the signal and background processes is considered, altering the signal selection efficiency. The study is performed using a fully simulated CLIC_ILD detector model. It is shown that the branching ratio for the Higgs decay into a pair of muons BR( $${H\rightarrow \mu ^+\mu ^-}$$ ) times the Higgs production cross-section in WW-fusion $$\sigma (H\nu \bar{\nu })$$ can be measured with 38 % statistical accuracy at $${\sqrt{s} =\text {1.4 TeV}}$$ , assuming an integrated luminosity of 1.5 ab $$^{-1}$$ with unpolarised beams. If 80 % electron beam polarisation is considered, the statistical uncertainty of the measurement is reduced to 25 %. It is predicted that an accelerating electron performs a Brownian motion in the inertial frame. This Brownian motion in the inertial frame has its roots in the interaction with the thermal excitation given by the Unruh effect in the accelerating frame. If such a prediction is possible, correspondingly we propose a prediction in this study that the thermal radiation is emitted in the inertial frame from an electron heated due to the Unruh effect in the accelerating frame. The point in our prediction is, although the Unruh effect is limited in the accelerating frame, as well as that the Brownian motion rooted in the Unruh effect appears in the inertial frame, the heat of the particle appears in the inertial frame. Based on such a prediction in this paper, we investigate phenomena in the neighborhood of an accelerating electron in the inertial frame. The model we consider is the four-dimensional Klein-Gordon real scalar field model with the Higgs potential term at the finite temperature identified with the Unruh temperature on the de Sitter space-time. We calculate the one-loop effective potential in the inertial frame with the corrections by the thermal radiation rooted in the Unruh effect in the accelerating frame. In this calculation, we take into account that the background space-time is deformed due to the field theory's corrected one-loop effective potential. Based on such an analysis, we illustrate the restoration of the spontaneous symmetry breaking and the dynamical variation of the background space-time, and we examine the accelerating particle's world-line and the amount of the energy corresponding to the change of the acceleration. A general analysis of possible violation of CP in processes like τ → K π ν , for unpolarized τ is presented. In this paper, we derive the new contributions to the effective Hamiltonian governs | Δ S | = 1 semileptonic tau decays in the framework of two Higgs doublet model with generic Yukawa structure and Leptoquarks models. Within these models, we list all operators, in the effective Hamiltonian and provide analytical expression for their corresponding Wilson coefficients. Moreover, we analyze the role of the different contributions, originating from the scalar, vecor and tensor hadronic currents, in generating direct CP asymmetry in the decay rate of τ - → K - π 0 ν τ . We show that non vanishing direct CP asymmetry in the decay rate of τ - → K - π 0 ν τ can be generated due to the presence of both, the weak phase in the Wilson coefficient corresponding to the tensor operator and the strong phase difference resulting from the interference between the form factors expressing the matrix elements of the vector and tensor hadronic currents. After taking into account all relevant constraints, we find that the generated direct CP asymmetry is of order 10 - 8 which is several orders of magnitude larger than the standard model prediction. We show also that, in two Higgs doublet model with generic Yukawa structure , direct local or non integrated CP violation can be as large as 0.3 % not far from experimental possibilities. This kind of asymmetry can be generated due to the interference between vector and scalar contributions with different weak phases which is not the case in the SM. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) is an option for a future $${\mathrm{e}^{+}}{\mathrm{e}^{-}} $$ collider operating at centre-of-mass energies up to $$3\,\text {TeV} $$ , providing sensitivity to a wide range of new physics phenomena and precision physics measurements at the energy frontier. This paper is the first comprehensive presentation of the Higgs physics reach of CLIC operating at three energy stages: $$\sqrt{s} = 350\,\text {GeV} $$ , 1.4 and $$3\,\text {TeV} $$ . The initial stage of operation allows the study of Higgs boson production in Higgsstrahlung ( $${\mathrm{e}^{+}}{\mathrm{e}^{-}} \rightarrow {\mathrm{Z}} {\mathrm{H}} $$ ) and $${\mathrm{W}} {\mathrm{W}} $$ -fusion ( $${\mathrm{e}^{+}}{\mathrm{e}^{-}} \rightarrow {\mathrm{H}} {{\nu }}_{\!\mathrm{e}} {\bar{{\nu }}}_{\!\mathrm{e}} $$ ), resulting in precise measurements of the production cross sections, the Higgs total decay width $$\varGamma _{{\mathrm{H}}}$$ , and model-independent determinations of the Higgs couplings. Operation at $$\sqrt{s} > 1\,\text {TeV} $$ provides high-statistics samples of Higgs bosons produced through $${\mathrm{W}} {\mathrm{W}} $$ -fusion, enabling tight constraints on the Higgs boson couplings. Studies of the rarer processes $${\mathrm{e}^{+}}{\mathrm{e}^{-}} \rightarrow \mathrm{t} {\bar{\mathrm{t}}} {\mathrm{H}} $$ and $${\mathrm{e}^{+}}{\mathrm{e}^{-}} \rightarrow {\mathrm{H}} {\mathrm{H}} {{\nu }}_{\!\mathrm{e}} {\bar{{\nu }}}_{\!\mathrm{e}} $$ allow measurements of the top Yukawa coupling and the Higgs boson self-coupling. The objective of the paper was to examine gravitational evolutions in the Higgs-dark matter sector toy model. The real part of the Higgs doublet was modelled by a neutral scalar. Two dark matter candidates introduced were the dark photon and a charged complex scalar. Non-minimal couplings of both scalars to gravity were included. The coupling channels between the ordinary and dark matter sectors were kinetic mixing between the electromagnetic and dark U(1) fields and the Higgs portal coupling among the scalars. The structures of emerging singular spacetimes were either of Schwarzschild or Reissner–Nordström types. The non-minimal scalar–gravity couplings led to an appearance of timelike portions of apparent horizons where they transform from spacelike to null. The features of dynamical black holes were described as functions of the model parameters. The black holes formed later and their radii and masses were smaller as the mass parameter of the complex scalar increased. The dependencies on the coupling of the Higgs field to gravity exhibited extrema, which were a maximum for the time of the black holes formation and minima in the cases of their radii and masses. A set of quantities associated with an observer moving with the evolving matter was proposed. The energy density, radial pressure and pressure anisotropy within dynamical spacetimes get bigger as the singularity is approached. The increase is more considerable in the Reissner–Nordström spacetimes. This paper presents a search for direct top squark pair production in events with missing transverse momentum plus either a pair of jets consistent with Standard Model Higgs boson decay into b-quarks or a same-flavour opposite-sign dilepton pair with an invariant mass consistent with a Z boson. The analysis is performed using the proton–proton collision data at s = 13 TeV collected with the ATLAS detector during the LHC Run-2, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb - 1 . No excess is observed in the data above the Standard Model predictions. The results are interpreted in simplified models featuring direct production of pairs of either the lighter top squark ( t ~ 1 ) or the heavier top squark ( t ~ 2 ), excluding at 95% confidence level t ~ 1 and t ~ 2 masses up to about 1220 and 875 GeV, respectively. Several models of physics beyond the Standard Model predict the existence of dark photons, light neutral particles decaying into collimated leptons or light hadrons. This paper presents a search for long-lived dark photons produced from the decay of a Higgs boson or a heavy scalar boson and decaying into displaced collimated Standard Model fermions. The search uses data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36.1 fb - 1 collected in proton–proton collisions at s = 13 Te recorded in 2015–2016 with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The observed number of events is consistent with the expected background, and limits on the production cross section times branching fraction as a function of the proper decay length of the dark photon are reported. In this paper we compute the electroweak corrections to the charged Higgs boson decay into a W boson and a neutral Higgs boson in the CP-conserving NMSSM. We calculate the process in a general R ξ gauge and investigate the dependence of the loop-corrected decay width on the gauge parameter ξ . The gauge dependence arises from the mixing of different loop orders. Phenomenology requires the inclusion of mass and mixing corrections to the external Higgs bosons in order to match the experimentally measured mass values. As a result, we move away from a strict one-loop calculation and consequently mix orders in perturbation theory. Moreover, determination of the loop-corrected masses in an iterative procedure also results in the mixing of different loop orders. Gauge dependence then arises from the mismatch with tree-level Goldstone boson couplings that are applied in the loop calculation, and from the gauge dependence of the loop-corrected masses themselves. We compute the dominant two-loop corrections to the Higgs trilinear coupling λ hhh and to the Higgs quartic coupling λ hhhh in models with extended Higgs sectors, using the effective-potential approximation. We provide in this paper all necessary details about our calculations, and present general MS ¯ expressions for derivatives of the integrals appearing in the effective potential at two loops. We also consider three particular Beyond-the-Standard-Model (BSM) scenarios – namely a typical scenario of an Inert Doublet Model (IDM), and scenarios of a Two-Higgs-Doublet Model (2HDM) and of a Higgs Singlet Model (HSM) without scalar mixing – and we include all the necessary finite counterterms to obtain (in addition to MS ¯ results) on-shell scheme expressions for the corrections to the Higgs self-couplings. With these analytic results, we investigate the possible magnitude of two-loop BSM contributions to the Higgs self-couplings and the fate of the non-decoupling effects that are known to appear at one loop. We find that, at least as long as pertubative unitarity conditions are fulfilled, the size of two-loop corrections remains well below that of one-loop corrections. Typically, two-loop contributions to λ hhh amount to approximately 20% of those at one loop, implying that the non-decoupling effects observed at one loop are not significantly modified, but also meaning that higher-order corrections need to be taken into account for the future perspective of precise measurements of the Higgs trilinear coupling. Circular electron positron colliders, such as the CEPC and FCC-ee, have been proposed to measure Higgs boson properties precisely, test the Standard Model, search for physics beyond the Standard Model, and so on. One of the important goals of these colliders is to measure the W boson mass with great precision by taking data around the W-pair production threshold. In this paper, the data-taking scheme is investigated to maximize the achievable precisions of the W boson mass and width with a threshold scan, when various systematic uncertainties are taken into account. The study shows that an optimal and realistic data-taking scheme is to collect data at three center-of-mass energies and that precisions of 1.0 MeV and 3.4 MeV can be achieved for the mass and width of the W boson, respectively, with a total integrated luminosity of L = 3.2 ab - 1 and several assumptions of the systematic uncertainty sources. The Circular Electron Positron Collider and the International Linear Collider are two electron-positron Higgs factories. They are designed to operate at a center-of-mass energy of 240 and 250 GeV and accumulate 5.6 and 2 a b - 1 of integrated luminosity. This paper estimates their performance on the H → τ + τ - benchmark measurement. Using the full simulation analysis, the CEPC is expected to measure the signal strength to a relative accuracy of 0.8%. Extrapolating to the ILC setup, we conclude the ILC can reach a relative accuracy of 1.1% or 1.2%, corresponding to two benchmark beam polarization setups. The physics requirement on the mass resolution of the Higgs boson with hadronic decay final states is also discussed, showing that the CEPC baseline design and reconstruction fulfill the accuracy requirement of the H → τ + τ - signal strength. Measurements of quarkonia isolation in jets at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) have been shown to disagree with fixed-order non-relativistic quantum chromodynamics (NRQCD) calculations, even at higher orders. Calculations using the fragmenting jet function formalism are able to better describe data but cannot provide full event-level predictions. In this work we provide an alternative model via NRQCD production of quarkonia in a timelike parton shower. We include this model in the Pythia 8 event generator and validate our parton-shower implementation against analytic forms of the relevant fragmentation functions. The detection of a heavy neutral CP-even Higgs boson of the B - L Supersymmetric Standard Model (BLSSM), h ′ , with m h ′ ≃ 400 GeV , at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) for a center-of-mass energy of s = 14 TeV , is investigated. The following production and decay channels are considered: g g → h ′ → ZZ → 4 ℓ and (with being the Missing Transverse Energy (MET)), where ℓ = e , μ , with integrated luminosity L int = 300 fb - 1 (Run 3). Furthermore, we also look into the di-Higgs channel g g → h ′ → hh → b b ¯ γ γ at the High-Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) with an integrated luminosity of L int = 3000 fb - 1 . Experimental information on the trilinear Higgs boson self-coupling κ 3 and the quartic self-coupling κ 4 will be crucial for gaining insight into the shape of the Higgs potential and the nature of the electroweak phase transition. While Higgs pair production processes provide access to κ 3 , triple Higgs production processes, despite their small cross sections, will provide valuable complementary information on κ 3 and first experimental constraints on κ 4 . We investigate triple Higgs boson production at the HL-LHC, employing efficient Graph Neural Network methodologies to maximise the statistical yield. We show that it will be possible to establish bounds on the variation of both couplings from the HL-LHC analyses that significantly go beyond the constraints from perturbative unitarity. In multi-Higgs models, the properties of one neutral scalar state approximate those of the Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson in a limit where the corresponding scalar field is roughly aligned in field space with the scalar doublet vacuum expectation value. In a scenario of alignment without decoupling, a SM-like Higgs boson can be accompanied by additional scalar states whose masses are of a similar order of magnitude. In the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM), alignment without decoupling can be achieved due to an accidental cancellation of tree-level and radiative loop-level effects. In this paper we assess the impact of the leading two-loop $$\mathcal{O}(\alpha _s h_t^2)$$ corrections on the Higgs alignment condition in the MSSM. These corrections are sizable and important in the relevant regions of parameter space and furthermore give rise to solutions of the alignment condition that are not present in the approximate one-loop description. We provide a comprehensive numerical comparison of the alignment condition obtained in the approximate one-loop and two-loop approximations, and discuss its implications for phenomenologically viable regions of the MSSM parameter space. In the paper, we present exact solutions of gravitational field equations for an anisotropic brane with a Bianchi type I universe with perfect fluid having nonvanishingWeyl tensor of the bulk. It is assumed that the thermodynamic pressure bears a linear relation with the energy density. For a particular non-zero value of the pressure the solutions are obtained in an exact analytic form with and without the cosmological constant for a Bianchi type I universe. In this paper the f( R) global monopole is reexamined. We provide an exact solution for the modified field equations in the presence of a global monopole for regions outside its core, generalizing previous results. Additionally, we discuss some particular cases obtained from this solution. We consider a setup consisting of a possible Schwarzschild black hole that absorbs the topological defect, giving rise to a static black hole endowed with a monopole's charge. Besides, we demonstrate how the asymptotic behavior of the Higgs field far from the monopole's core is shaped by a class of spacetime metrics which includes the ones analyzed here. In order to assess the gravitational properties of this system, we analyze the geodesic motion of both massive and massless test particles moving in the vicinity of such configuration. For the material particles we set the requirements they have to obey in order to experience stable orbits. We consider an extension of the Standard Model of particle physics with an additional SU(2) gauge sector along with an additional scalar bidoublet and a non-linear sigma field. The neutral components of the bidoublet serve as dark matter candidates by virtue of the bidoublet being odd under a Z 2 symmetry. Generic beyond Standard Model constraints like vacuum stability, invisible decay of Higgs, Higgs alignment limit and collider constraints on heavy gauge bosons restrict the parameter space of this model. In this multicomponent dark matter scenario, we investigate the interplay between the annihilation and co-annihilation channels originating from the new gauge sector as those contribute to the relic abundance. Assuming that the sbottom is the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP), we carry out an analysis of the relevant signals expected at the LHC. The discussion is established in the framework of the μ ν SSM, where the presence of R-parity violating couplings involving right-handed neutrinos solves simultaneously the μ -problem and the accommodation of neutrino masses and mixing angles. The sbottoms are pair produced at the LHC, decaying to a lepton and a top quark or a neutrino and a bottom quark. The decays can be prompt or displaced, depending on the regions of the parameter space of the model. We focus the analysis on the right sbottom LSP, since the left sbottom is typically heavier than the left stop because of the D-term contribution. We compare the predictions of this scenario with ATLAS and CMS searches for prompt and long-lived particles. To analyze the parameter space we sample the μ ν SSM for a right sbottom LSP, paying special attention to reproduce the current experimental data on neutrino and Higgs physics, as well as flavor observables. For displaced (prompt) decays, our results translate into lower limits on the mass of the right sbottom LSP of about 1041 GeV (1070 GeV). Vector-like quarks (VLQs) are a common feature of many scenarios of new physics beyond the Standard Model (SM), which generally decay into a SM third-generation quark with a SM gauge boson or a Higgs boson. The presence of a new exotic decay mode of VLQs will reduce the branching ratios of these standard decay modes and thus relax the current mass exclusion limits from LHC experiments. Based on a model-independent framework, we investigate the prospect of discovering the pair production of the weak-singlet VLQ-B at the future 3-TeV Compact Linear Collider (CLIC), by focusing on the final states including one Z boson and four b-jets via two types of modes: Z → ℓ + ℓ - and Z → ν ν ¯ . By performing a rapid detector simulation of the signal and background events, and considering the initial state radiation and beamstrahlung effects, the exclusion limit at the 95% confidence level and the 5 σ discovery prospects are respectively obtained on the branching ratio of B → b Z and the VLQ-B masses at the future 3-TeV CLIC with an integrated luminosity of 5 ab - 1 . The inclusive Higgs boson production cross-section is measured in the di-photon and the Z Z ∗ → 4 ℓ decay channels using 31.4 and 29.0 fb - 1 of pp collision data respectively, collected with the ATLAS detector at a centre-of-mass energy of s = 13.6 TeV . To reduce the model dependence, the measurement in each channel is restricted to a particle-level phase space that closely matches the channel's detector-level kinematic selection, and it is corrected for detector effects. These measured fiducial cross-sections are σ fid , γ γ = 76 - 13 + 14 fb, and σ fid , 4 ℓ = 2.80 ± 0.74 fb, in agreement with the corresponding Standard Model predictions of 67.6 ± 3.7 fb and 3.67 ± 0.19 fb. Assuming Standard Model acceptances and branching fractions for the two channels, the fiducial measurements are extrapolated to the full phase space yielding total cross-sections of σ (p p → H) = 67 - 11 + 12 pb and 46 ± 12 pb at 13.6 TeV from the di-photon and Z Z ∗ → 4 ℓ measurements respectively. The two measurements are combined into a total cross-section measurement of σ (p p → H) = 58.2 ± 8.7 pb, to be compared with the Standard Model prediction of σ (p p → H) SM = 59.9 ± 2.6 pb. Current and upcoming experiments should improve the sensitivity to e→ e γ decays by an order of magnitude. This paper assumes that one of the τ→ e γ decays is observed, and explores the structure and consequences of the required new flavoured couplings. In simple models (a low-scale seesaw, leptoquarks) it is shown that the dipole vertex function is proportional to a product of flavoured matrices from the Lagrangian (a 'Jarlskog-like' invariant), provided that the loop particles are weakly coupled to the Higgs. Secondly, if the dipole vertex function has a hierarchical structure, this might imply that only some of the τ→ e γ modes can be observed, due to the 'approximate zero' implied by the bound on μ→ eγ. In this paper, we study the observability of an invisible Higgs boson at Fermilab Tevatron and CERN LHC through the production channel qq̄→ZH→ℓ+ℓ-+P/T, where/PT is reconstructed from the ℓ+ℓ- with ℓ=e or μ. A new strategy is proposed to eliminate the largest irreducible background, namely qq̄→Z(→ℓ+ℓ-)Z(→νν̄). This strategy utilizes the precise measurements of qq̄→Z(→ℓ+ℓ-)Z(→ℓ+ℓ-). For mH=120 GeV and with luminosity 30 fb-1 at Tevatron, a 5σ observation of the invisible Higgs boson is possible. For mH=114∼140 GeV with only 10 fb-1 luminosity at LHC, a discovery signal over 5σ can be achieved. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper addresses the question of the observability of neutral Higgs bosons through the leptonic decay in a two Higgs doublet model (2HDM). Both scalar and pseudo-scalar Higgs bosons ( H, A) are considered. The model is set to type IV to enhance the leptonic decay. In such a scenario, a signal production process like $$e^+e^- \rightarrow A^0H^0 \rightarrow \tau \tau \mu \mu $$ or $$\mu \mu \tau \tau $$ would provide a clear signal on top of the background in a di-muon invariant mass distribution far from the Z boson pole mass. The analysis is based on a $$\tau $$ -id algorithm which preselects events if they have two $$\tau $$ jets by requiring a hadronic $$\tau $$ decay. Several benchmark points are defined for the search, requiring a linear collider operating at $$\sqrt{s} = 0.5$$ and 1 TeV. It is shown that the signal can be observed on top of the background in all benchmark points at an integrated luminosity of 1000 $$\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$$ . [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The rare baryonic decay Λb → Λ(→pπ-)μ+μ- provides valuable complementary information compared to the corresponding mesonic b → sμ+μ- transition. In this paper, using the latest high-precision lattice QCD calculation of the Λb → Λ transition form factors, we study this interesting decay within the aligned two-Higgs-doublet model, paying particularly attention to the effects of the chirality-flipped operators generated by the charged scalars. In order to extract the full set of angular coefficients in this decay, we consider the following ten angular observables, which can be derived from the analysis of the subsequent parity-violating Λ → pπ- decay: the differential branching fraction dB/dq², the longitudinal polarization fraction FL, the lepton-, hadron- and combined lepton-hadron-side forward-backward asymmetries AFBℓ, AFBΛ and AFBℓΛ, as well as the other five asymmetry observables Yi(i = 2, 3s, 3sc, 4s, 4sc). Detailed numerical comparisons are made between the SM and NP values for these angular observables. It is found that, under the constraints from the inclusive B → Xsγ branching fraction and the latest global fit results of b → sℓℓ data, the contributions of right-handed semileptonic operators O′9,10, besides reconciling the P′5 anomaly observed in B0 → K∗0μ+μ- decay, could also enhance the values of dB/dq² and AFBℓ in the bin [15,20] GeV²[15,20] GeV2, leading to results consistent with the current LHCb measurements. Hints for an additional Higgs boson with a mass of about 95 GeV originate from LEP and searches in the diphoton channel by CMS and ATLAS. A search for resonant production of SM plus BSM Higgs bosons in the diphoton plus b b ¯ channel by CMS showed some excess for a 650 GeV resonance decaying into the SM Higgs plus a 95 GeV Higgs boson. We investigate whether these phenomena can be interpreted simultaneously within the NMSSM subject to the latest constraints on couplings of the SM Higgs boson, on extra Higgs bosons from the LHC, and on dark matter direct detection cross sections. We find that the hints for a 95 GeV Higgs boson in the diphoton channel by CMS and ATLAS and in the diphoton plus b b ¯ channel by CMS can be fitted simultaneously within the 2 σ level. The trilinear Higgs coupling λ hhh of the detected Higgs boson is an important probe for physics beyond the Standard Model. Correspondingly, improving the precision of the theoretical predictions for this coupling as well as the experimental constraints on it are among the main goals of particle physics in the near future. In this article, we present the public Python code anyH3, which provides precise theoretical predictions for λ hhh. The program can easily be used for any renormalisable model, where for the input the UFO format is adopted. It allows including corrections up to the full one-loop level with arbitrary values of the external squared momenta and features a semi-automatic and highly flexible renormalisation procedure. We present a new Monte Carlo code for Higgs boson pair production at next-to-leading order in the Powheg-Box Monte Carlo framework. The code is based on analytic results for the two loop virtual corrections which include the full top quark mass dependence. This feature allows to freely assign the value of all input parameters, including the trilinear Higgs boson self coupling, as well as to vary the renormalization scheme employed for the top quark mass. We study the uncertainties due to the top-mass renormalization scheme allowing the trilinear Higgs boson self coupling to vary around its Standard Model value including parton shower effects. We present the prediction of the electroweak ρ parameter and the W boson mass in the CP-violating Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model (NMSSM) at the two-loop order. The ρ parameter is calculated at the full one-loop and leading and sub-leading two-loop order O (α + α t α s + α t + α λ + α κ 2) . The new Δ ρ prediction is incorporated into a prediction of M W via a full supersymmetric (SUSY) one-loop calculation of Δ r . Furthermore, we include all known state-of-the-art SM higher-order corrections to Δ r . By comparing results for Δ ρ obtained using on-shell (OS) and DR ¯ renormalization conditions in the top/stop sector, we find that the scheme uncertainty is reduced at one-loop order by 55%, at two-loop O (α s α t) by 22%, and at two-loop O (α t + α κ + α λ) 2 by 16%, respectively. The influence of the two-loop results on the M W mass prediction is found to be sub-leading. The new calculation is made public in the computer program NMSSMCALC. We perform an extensive comparison in the W-mass, Higgs boson mass and the muon anomalous magnetic moment prediction between our calculation and three other publicly available tools and find very good agreement provided that the input parameters and renormalization scales are treated in the same way. Finally, we study the impact of the CP-violating phases on the W-mass prediction which is found to be smaller than the overall size of the SUSY corrections. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The B-L symmetric SUSY model (B-LSSM) introduces a new Z ′ gauge boson and two singlet scalars, which indicates there are more neutralinos in the B-LSSM comparing with the minimal SUSY extension of standard model (MSSM). These new neutralinos provide more dark matter (DM) candidates in the B-LSSM, we find that the super partner of the new scalar singlet can serve as the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) and be considered as a DM candidate. The properties of this new DM candidate are analyzed in this work. Taking into account the experimental constraints on Higgs boson mass, B meson rare decays and muon anomalous magnetic dipole moment, the numerical results are obtained and presented. The properties of new DM candidate in the B-LSSM satisfy the observed relic density Ω h 2 and comply with the latest upper bounds on σ SI χ 1 0 - n , and its mass is expected to greater than 80 GeV approximately. We discuss entanglement and violation of Bell-type inequalities for a system of two Z bosons produced in Higgs decays. We take into account beyond the Standard Model (anomalous) coupling between H and daughter bosons but we limit ourselves to an overall scalar ZZ state (we exclude the possibility that H contains a pseudo-scalar component). In particular we consider the case when each Z decays further into fermion-antifermion pair. We find that the ZZ state is entangled and violates the CGLMP inequality for all values of the (anomalous) coupling constant. We also discuss the impact of a background on these results. The methods we develop are completely general, since they can be extrapolated to any scalar particle decaying into two spin-1 particles of different masses. Moreover, the violation of the CGLMP inequality in the final state is theoretically ensured for any value of the couplings. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
