In this paper, the nexus between the Bell-state measurement and extracting phase information from the zeropoint field is investigated. For this purpose, the Wigner representation in the Heisenberg picture is applied in a Bell-type experiment in which the polarisation-entangled photon pairs generated in a type-II parametric down-conversion do not overlap. The signal intensities at the detectors are calculated in a four-mode approximation, being expressed as functions of the modules and phases of the four zeropoint amplitudes entering the crystal. A general criterion for identifying the correlated detectors is proposed based on the equality of the signal intensities, and without involving the calculation of the joint detection probabilities. In addition, from the analyses in the rectilinear and diagonal basis, it is shown that the distinguishability of the polarisation Bell states, which is in direct correspondence with the joint detection events in each experiment, can be related to the knowledge of the phases of the vacuum field entering the entanglement source, and giving rise to correlated detections. To this purpose, it is conjectured that a detection event is associated with a maximum value of the signal intensity averaged in the modules of the zeropoint amplitudes, as a function of the vacuum phases. Recently, advances in detection and re-identification techniques have significantly boosted tracking-by-detection-based multi-pedestrian tracking (MPT) methods and made MPT a great success in most easy scenes. Several very recent works point out that the two-step scheme of first detection and then tracking is problematic and propose using the bounding box regression head of an object detector to realize data association. In this tracking-by-regression paradigm, the regressor directly predicts each pedestrian's location in the current frame according to its previous position. However, when the scene is crowded and pedestrians are close to each other, the small and partially occluded targets are easily missed. In this paper, we follow this pattern and design a hierarchical association strategy to obtain better performance in crowded scenes. To be specific, at the first association, the regressor is used to estimate the positions of obvious pedestrians. At the second association, we employ a history-aware mask to filter out the already occupied regions implicitly and look carefully at the remaining regions to find out the ignored pedestrians during the first association. We integrate the hierarchical association in a learning framework and directly infer the occluded and small pedestrians in an end-to-end way. We conduct extensive pedestrian tracking experiments on three public pedestrian tracking benchmarks from less crowded to crowded scenes, demonstrating the proposed strategy's effectiveness in crowded scenes. In this paper, we propose a compression-based anomaly detection method for time series and sequence data using a pattern dictionary. The proposed method is capable of learning complex patterns in a training data sequence, using these learned patterns to detect potentially anomalous patterns in a test data sequence. The proposed pattern dictionary method uses a measure of complexity of the test sequence as an anomaly score that can be used to perform stand-alone anomaly detection. We also show that when combined with a universal source coder, the proposed pattern dictionary yields a powerful atypicality detector that is equally applicable to anomaly detection. The pattern dictionary-based atypicality detector uses an anomaly score defined as the difference between the complexity of the test sequence data encoded by the trained pattern dictionary (typical) encoder and the universal (atypical) encoder, respectively. We consider two complexity measures: the number of parsed phrases in the sequence, and the length of the encoded sequence (codelength). Specializing to a particular type of universal encoder, the Tree-Structured Lempel–Ziv (LZ78), we obtain a novel non-asymptotic upper bound, in terms of the Lambert W function, on the number of distinct phrases resulting from the LZ78 parser. This non-asymptotic bound determines the range of anomaly score. The timely delivery of status information collected from sensors is critical in many real-time applications, e.g., monitoring and control. In this paper, we consider a scenario where a wireless sensor sends updates to the destination over an erasure channel with the supply of harvested energy and reliable backup energy. We adopt the metric age of information (AoI) to measure the timeliness of the received updates at the destination. We aim to find the optimal information updating policy that minimizes the time-average weighted sum of the AoI and the reliable backup energy cost. First, when all the environmental statistics are assumed to be known, the optimal information updating policy exists and is proved to have a threshold structure. Based on this special structure, an algorithm for efficiently computing the optimal policy is proposed. Then, for the unknown environment, a learning-based algorithm is employed to find a near-optimal policy. This paper addresses the optimization of distributed compression in a sensor network with partial cooperation among sensors. The widely known Chief Executive Officer (CEO) problem, where each sensor has to compress its measurements locally in order to forward them over capacity limited links to a common receiver is extended by allowing sensors to mutually communicate. This extension comes along with modified statistical dependencies among involved random variables compared to the original CEO problem, such that well-known outer and inner bounds do not hold anymore. Three different inter-sensor communication protocols are investigated. The successive broadcast approach allows each sensor to exploit instantaneous side-information of all previously transmitting sensors. As this leads to dimensionality problems for larger networks, a sequential point-to-point communication scheme is considered forwarding instantaneous side-information to only one successor. Thirdly, a two-phase transmission protocol separates the information exchange between sensors and the communication with the common receiver. Inspired by algorithmic solutions for the original CEO problem, the sensors are optimized in a greedy manner. It turns out that partial communication among sensors improves the performance significantly. In particular, the two-phase transmission can reach the performance of a fully cooperative CEO scenario, where each sensor has access to all measurements and the knowledge about all channel conditions. Moreover, exchanging instantaneous side-information increases the robustness against bad Wyner–Ziv coding strategies, which can lead to significant performance losses in the original CEO problem. An iterative QR-based soft feedback segment interference cancellation (QRSFSIC) detection and decoder algorithm for a Reed-Muller (RM) space-time turbo system is proposed in this paper. It forms the sufficient statistic for the minimum-mean-square error (MMSE) estimate according to QR decomposition-based soft feedback successive interference cancellation, stemmed from the a priori log-likelihood ratio (LLR) of encoded bits. Then, the signal originating from the symbols of the reliable segment, the symbol reliability metric, in terms of an a posteriori LLR of encoded bits which is larger than a certain threshold, is iteratively cancelled with the QRSFSIC in order to further obtain the residual signal for evaluating the symbols in the unreliable segment. This is done until the unreliable segment is empty, resulting in the extrinsic information for a RM turbo-coded bit with the greatest likelihood. Bridged by de-multiplexing and multiplexing, an iterative QRSFSIC detection is concatenated with an iterative trellis-based maximum a posteriori probability RM turbo decoder as if a principal Turbo detection and decoder is embedded with an iterative subordinate QRSFSIC detection and a RM turbo decoder, exchanging each other's detection and decoding soft-decision information iteratively. These three stages let the proposed algorithm approach the upper bound of the diversity. This paper presents a novel low probability of intercept (LPI) optimization framework in radar network by minimizing the Schleher intercept factor based on minimum mean-square error (MMSE) estimation. MMSE of the estimate of the target scatterer matrix is presented as a metric for the ability to estimate the target scattering characteristic. The LPI optimization problem, which is developed on the basis of a predetermined MMSE threshold, has two variables, including transmitted power and target assignment index. We separated power allocation from target assignment through two sub-problems. First, the optimum power allocation is obtained for each target assignment scheme. Second, target assignment schemes are selected based on the results of power allocation. The main problem of this paper can be considered in the point of views based on two cases, including single radar assigned to each target and two radars assigned to each target. According to simulation results, the proposed algorithm can effectively reduce the total Schleher intercept factor of a radar network, which can make a great contribution to improve the LPI performance of a radar network. A saturation attack can be employed for compromising the practical security of continuous-variable quantum key distribution (CVQKD). In this paper, we suggest a countermeasure approach to resisting this attack by embedding an adjustable optical filter (AOF) in the CVQKD system. Numerical simulations illustrate the effects of the AOF-enabled countermeasure on the performance in terms of the secret key rate and transmission distance. The legal participants can trace back the information that has been eavesdropped by an attacker from the imperfect receiver, which indicates that this approach can be used for defeating a saturation attack in practical quantum communications. In actual application, sensors are prone to failure because of harsh environments, battery drain, and sensor aging. Sensor fault location is an important step for follow-up sensor fault detection. In this paper, two new multi-level wavelet Shannon entropies (multi-level wavelet time Shannon entropy and multi-level wavelet time-energy Shannon entropy) are defined. They take full advantage of sensor fault frequency distribution and energy distribution across multi-subband in wavelet domain. Based on the multi-level wavelet Shannon entropy, a method is proposed for single sensor fault location. The method firstly uses a criterion of maximum energy-to-Shannon entropy ratio to select the appropriate wavelet base for signal analysis. Then multi-level wavelet time Shannon entropy and multi-level wavelet time-energy Shannon entropy are used to locate the fault. The method is validated using practical chemical gas concentration data from a gas sensor array. Compared with wavelet time Shannon entropy and wavelet energy Shannon entropy, the experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can achieve accurate location of a single sensor fault and has good anti-noise ability. This paper is a review of our recent work on three notorious problems of non-relativistic quantum mechanics: realist interpretation, quantum theory of classical properties, and the problem of quantum measurement. A considerable progress has been achieved, based on four distinct new ideas. First, objective properties are associated with states rather than with values of observables. Second, all classical properties are selected properties of certain high entropy quantum states of macroscopic systems. Third, registration of a quantum system is strongly disturbed by systems of the same type in the environment. Fourth, detectors must be distinguished from ancillas and the states of registered systems are partially dissipated and lost in the detectors. The paper has two aims: a clear explanation of all new results and a coherent and contradiction-free account of the whole quantum mechanics including all necessary changes of its current textbook version. There has been a growing interest in sleep management recently, and sleep care services using mobile or wearable devices are under development. However, devices with one sensor have limitations in analyzing various sleep states. If Internet of Things (IoT) technology, which collects information from multiple sensors and analyzes them in an integrated manner, can be used then various sleep states can be more accurately measured. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a Smart Model for Sleep Care to provide a service to measure and analyze the sleep state using various sensors. In this model, we designed and implemented a Sleep Information Gathering Protocol to transmit the information measured between physical sensors and sleep sensors. Experiments were conducted to compare the throughput and the consumed power of this new protocol with those of the protocols used in the existing service--we achieved the throughput of about two times and 20% reduction in power consumption, which has confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed protocol. We judge that this protocol is meaningful as it can be applied to a Smart Model for Sleep Care that incorporates IoT technology and allows expanded sleep care if used together with services for treating sleep disorders. The Internet of Things (IoT) is placing new demands on existing communication systems. The limited orthogonal resources do not meet the demands of massive connectivity of future IoT systems that require efficient multiple access. Interleave-division multiple access (IDMA) is a promising method of improving spectral efficiency and supporting massive connectivity for IoT networks. In a given time, not all sensors signal information to an aggregation node, but each node transmits a short frame on occasion, e.g., time-controlled or event-driven. The sporadic nature of the uplink transmission, low data rates, and massive connectivity in IoT scenarios necessitates minimal control overhead communication schemes. Therefore, sensor activity and data detection should be implemented on the receiver side. However, the current chip-by-chip (CBC) iterative multi-user detection (MUD) assumes that sensor activity is precisely known at the receiver. In this paper, we propose three schemes to solve the MUD problem in a sporadic IDMA uplink transmission system. Firstly, inspired by the observation of sensor sparsity, we incorporate compressed sensing (CS) to MUD in order to jointly perform activity and data detection. Secondly, as CS detection could provide reliable activity detection, we combine CS and CBC and propose a CS-CBC detector. In this paper, we present a novel blind signal detector based on the entropy of the power spectrum subband energy ratio (PSER), the detection performance of which is significantly better than that of the classical energy detector. This detector is a full power spectrum detection method, and does not require the noise variance or prior information about the signal to be detected. According to the analysis of the statistical characteristics of the power spectrum subband energy ratio, this paper proposes concepts such as interval probability, interval entropy, sample entropy, joint interval entropy, PSER entropy, and sample entropy variance. Based on the multinomial distribution, in this paper the formulas for calculating the PSER entropy and the variance of sample entropy in the case of pure noise are derived. Based on the mixture multinomial distribution, the formulas for calculating the PSER entropy and the variance of sample entropy in the case of the signals mixed with noise are also derived. Under the constant false alarm strategy, the detector based on the entropy of the power spectrum subband energy ratio is derived. The supervised super-resolution (SR) methods based on simple degradation assumptions (e.g., bicubic downsampling) have unsatisfactory generalization ability on real-world thermal images. To enhance the SR effect of real-world sceneries, we introduce an unsupervised SR framework for thermal images, incorporating degradation modeling and corresponding SR. Inspired by the physical prior that high frequency affects details and low frequency affects thermal contrast, we propose a frequency-aware degradation model, named TFADGAN. The model achieves image quality migration between thermal detectors of different resolutions by degrading different frequency components of the image from high-resolution (HR) to low-resolution (LR). Specifically, by adversarial learning with unpaired LR thermal images, the complex degradation processes of HR thermal images at low and high frequencies are modeled separately. Benefiting from the thermal characteristics mined from real-world images, the degraded images generated by TFADGAN are similar to LR thermal ones in terms of detail and contrast. Then, the SR model is trained based on the pseudo-paired data consisting of degraded images and HR images. Extensive experimental results demonstrate that the degraded images generated by TFADGAN provide reliable alternatives to real-world LR thermal images. In real-world thermal image experiments, the proposed SR framework can improve the peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and structural similarity degree (SSIM) by 1.28 dB and 0.02, respectively. Massive multiple-input multiple-output (M-MIMO) is a substantial pillar in fifth generation (5G) mobile communication systems. Although the maximum likelihood (ML) detector attains the optimum performance, it has an exponential complexity. Linear detectors are one of the substitutions and they are comparatively simple to implement. Unfortunately, they sustain a considerable performance loss in high loaded systems. They also include a matrix inversion which is not hardware-friendly. In addition, if the channel matrix is singular or nearly singular, the system will be classified as an ill-conditioned and hence, the signal cannot be equalized. To defeat the inherent noise enhancement, iterative matrix inversion methods are used in the detectors' design where approximate matrix inversion is replacing the exact computation. In this paper, we study a linear detector based on iterative matrix inversion methods in realistic radio channels called QUAsi Deterministic RadIo channel GenerAtor (QuaDRiGa) package. Numerical results illustrate that the conjugate-gradient (CG) method is numerically robust and obtains the best performance with lowest number of multiplications. In the QuaDRiGA environment, iterative methods crave large n to obtain a pleasurable performance. This paper also shows that when the ratio between the user antennas and base station (BS) antennas (β) is close to 1, iterative matrix inversion methods are not attaining a good detector's performance. To recognize individual activities in multi-resident environments with pervasive sensors, some researchers have pointed out that finding data associations can contribute to activity recognition and previous methods either need or infer data association when recognizing new multi-resident activities based on new observations from sensors. However, it is often difficult to find out data associations, and available approaches to multi-resident activity recognition degrade when the data association is not given or induced with low accuracy. This paper exploits some simple knowledge of multi-resident activities through defining Combined label and the state set, and proposes a two-stage activity recognition method for multi-resident activity recognition. We define Combined label states at the model building phase with the help of data association, and learn Combined label states at the new activity recognition phase without the help of data association. Our two stages method is embodied in the new activity recognition phase, where we figure out multi-resident activities in the second stage after learning Combined label states at first stage. In the continuous variable measurement-device-independent quantum key distribution (CV-MDI-QKD) protocol, both Alice and Bob send quantum states to an untrusted third party, Charlie, for detection through the quantum channel. In this paper, we mainly study the performance of the CV-MDI-QKD system using the noiseless linear amplifier (NLA). The NLA is added to the output of the detector at Charlie's side. The research results show that NLA can increase the communication distance and secret key rate of the CV-MDI-QKD protocol. The advancement of sensing technologies coupled with the rapid progress in big data analysis has ushered in a new era in intelligent transport and smart city applications. In this context, transportation mode detection (TMD) of mobile users is a field that has gained significant traction in recent years. In this paper, we present a deep learning approach for transportation mode detection using multimodal sensor data elicited from user smartphones. The approach is based on long short-term Memory networks and Bayesian optimization of their parameters. We conducted an extensive experimental evaluation of the proposed approach, which attains very high recognition rates, against a multitude of machine learning approaches, including state-of-the-art methods. Modulating retro-reflector (MRR), originally introduced to support laser communication, relieves most of the weight, power, and pointing requirements to the ground station. In this paper, a plug-and-play measurement device independent quantum key distribution (MDI-QKD) scheme with MRR is proposed not only to eliminate detector side channels and allow an untrusted satellite relay between two users, but also to simplify the requirements set-ups in practical flexible moving scenarios. The plug-and-play architecture compensates for the polarization drift during the transmission to provide superior performance in implementing the MDI-QKD on a free-space channel, and the MRR device is adopted to relax the requirements on both communication terminals. A double-pass correlated turbulent channel model is presented to investigate the complex and unstable channel characteristics caused by the atmospheric turbulence. Furthermore, the security of the modified MDI-QKD scheme is analyzed under some classical attacks and the simulation results indicate the feasibility under the situation that the system performance deteriorates with the increase of fading correlation coefficient and the turbulence intensity, which provides a meaningful step towards an MDI-QKD based on the moving platforms to join a dynamic quantum network with untrusted relays. Although commercial motion-capture systems have been widely used in various applications, the complex setup limits their application scenarios for ordinary consumers. To overcome the drawbacks of wearability, human posture reconstruction based on a few wearable sensors have been actively studied in recent years. In this paper, we propose a deep-learning-based sparse inertial sensor human posture reconstruction method. This method uses bidirectional recurrent neural network (Bi-RNN) to build an a priori model from a large motion dataset to build human motion, thereby the low-dimensional motion measurements are mapped to whole-body posture. To improve the motion reconstruction performance for specific application scenarios, two fundamental problems in the model construction are investigated: training data selection and sparse sensor placement. The problem of deep-learning training data selection is to select independent and identically distributed (IID) data for a certain scenario from the accumulated imbalanced motion dataset with sufficient information. We formulate the data selection into an optimization problem to obtain continuous and IID data segments, which comply with a small reference dataset collected from the target scenario. A two-step heuristic algorithm is proposed to solve the data selection problem. On the other hand, the optimal sensor placement problem is studied to exploit most information from partial observation of human movement. A method for evaluating the motion information amount of any group of wearable inertial sensors based on mutual information is proposed, and a greedy searching method is adopted to obtain the approximate optimal sensor placement of a given sensor number, so that the maximum motion information and minimum redundancy is achieved. Finally, the human posture reconstruction performance is evaluated with different training data and sensor placement selection methods, and experimental results show that the proposed method takes advantages in both posture reconstruction accuracy and model training time. When traditional super-resolution reconstruction methods are applied to infrared thermal images, they often ignore the problem of poor image quality caused by the imaging mechanism, which makes it difficult to obtain high-quality reconstruction results even with the training of simulated degraded inverse processes. To address these issues, we proposed a thermal infrared image super-resolution reconstruction method based on multimodal sensor fusion, aiming to enhance the resolution of thermal infrared images and rely on multimodal sensor information to reconstruct high-frequency details in the images, thereby overcoming the limitations of imaging mechanisms. First, we designed a novel super-resolution reconstruction network, which consisted of primary feature encoding, super-resolution reconstruction, and high-frequency detail fusion subnetwork, to enhance the resolution of thermal infrared images and rely on multimodal sensor information to reconstruct high-frequency details in the images, thereby overcoming limitations of imaging mechanisms. We designed hierarchical dilated distillation modules and a cross-attention transformation module to extract and transmit image features, enhancing the network's ability to express complex patterns. Then, we proposed a hybrid loss function to guide the network in extracting salient features from thermal infrared images and reference images while maintaining accurate thermal information. Finally, we proposed a learning strategy to ensure the high-quality super-resolution reconstruction performance of the network, even in the absence of reference images. Extensive experimental results show that the proposed method exhibits superior reconstruction image quality compared to other contrastive methods, demonstrating its effectiveness. Measurement-device-independent quantum key distribution (MDI-QKD) enables two legitimate users to generate shared information-theoretic secure keys with immunity to all detector side attacks. However, the original proposal using polarization encoding is sensitive to polarization rotations stemming from birefringence in fibers or misalignment. To overcome this problem, here we propose a robust QKD protocol without detector vulnerabilities based on decoherence-free subspaces using polarization-entangled photon pairs. A logical Bell state analyzer is designed specifically for such encoding. The protocol exploits common parametric down-conversion sources, for which we develop a MDI-decoy-state method, and requires neither complex measurements nor a shared reference frame. We have analyzed the practical security in detail and presented a numerical simulation under various parameter regimes, showing the feasibility of the logical Bell state analyzer along with the potential that double communication distance can be achieved without a shared reference frame. With the ongoing development of image technology, the deployment of various intelligent applications on embedded devices has attracted increased attention in the industry. One such application is automatic image captioning for infrared images, which involves converting images into text. This practical task is widely used in night security, as well as for understanding night scenes and other scenarios. However, due to the differences in image features and the complexity of semantic information, generating captions for infrared images remains a challenging task. From the perspective of deployment and application, to improve the correlation between descriptions and objects, we introduced the YOLOv6 and LSTM as encoder-decoder structure and proposed infrared image caption based on object-oriented attention. Firstly, to improve the domain adaptability of the detector, we optimized the pseudo-label learning process. Secondly, we proposed the object-oriented attention method to address the alignment problem between complex semantic information and embedded words. This method helps select the most crucial features of the object region and guides the caption model in generating words that are more relevant to the object. Our methods have shown good performance on the infrared image and can produce words explicitly associated with the object regions located by the detector. The robustness and effectiveness of the proposed methods were demonstrated through evaluation on various datasets, along with other state-of-the-art methods. Our approach achieved BLUE-4 scores of 31.6 and 41.2 on KAIST and Infrared City and Town datasets, respectively. Conventional image entropy merely involves the overall pixel intensity statistics which cannot respond to intensity patterns over spatial domain. However, spatial distribution of pixel intensity is definitely crucial to any biological or computer vision system, and that is why gestalt grouping rules involve using features of both aspects. Recently, the increasing integration of knowledge from gestalt research into visualization-related techniques has fundamentally altered both fields, offering not only new research questions, but also new ways of solving existing issues. This paper presents a Bayesian edge detector called GestEdge, which is effective in detecting gestalt edges, especially useful for forming object boundaries as perceived by human eyes. GestEdge is characterized by employing a directivity-aware sampling window or mask that iteratively deforms to probe or explore the existence of principal direction of sampling pixels; when convergence is reached, the window covers pixels best representing the directivity in compliance with the similarity and proximity laws in gestalt theory. During the iterative process based on the unsupervised Expectation-Minimization (EM) algorithm, the shape of the sampling window is optimally adjusted. Such a deformable window allows us to exploit the similarity and proximity among the sampled pixels. Underwater communication based on the use of optical quantum resources has attracted a lot of attention in the last five years due to the potential advantages offered by quantum states of light. In this context, we propose to operate in the mesoscopic intensity regime, where the optical states are well populated and the employed detectors have photon-number resolution. By exploiting these features, we demonstrate that a novel communication protocol based on the experimental quantification of nonclassicality of mesoscopic twin-beam states can be used to transmit binary signals encoded in two single-mode pseudothermal states with different mean values through a Jerlov type I water channel. The experimental results are in perfect agreement with the developed theoretical model, and the feasibility of the protocol is also investigated as a function of the data samples corresponding to each one of the two signals. The good quality of the results encourages a more realistic implementation of the protocol, also exploring the maximum distance at which the quantum states remain nonclassical and thus can be still properly discriminated. The communication capacities of these channels are analyzed, with main focus on the regime where the allowed average input power is close to zero, either because the bandwidth is large, or because the available continuous-time input power is low. Advancements in wearable sensors technologies provide prominent effects in the daily life activities of humans. These wearable sensors are gaining more awareness in healthcare for the elderly to ensure their independent living and to improve their comfort. In this paper, we present a human activity recognition model that acquires signal data from motion node sensors including inertial sensors, i.e., gyroscopes and accelerometers. First, the inertial data is processed via multiple filters such as Savitzky–Golay, median and hampel filters to examine lower/upper cutoff frequency behaviors. Second, it extracts a multifused model for statistical, wavelet and binary features to maximize the occurrence of optimal feature values. Then, adaptive moment estimation (Adam) and AdaDelta are introduced in a feature optimization phase to adopt learning rate patterns. These optimized patterns are further processed by the maximum entropy Markov model (MEMM) for empirical expectation and highest entropy, which measure signal variances for outperformed accuracy results. Our model was experimentally evaluated on University of Southern California Human Activity Dataset (USC-HAD) as a benchmark dataset and on an Intelligent Mediasporting behavior (IMSB), which is a new self-annotated sports dataset. For evaluation, we used the "leave-one-out" cross validation scheme and the results outperformed existing well-known statistical state-of-the-art methods by achieving an improved recognition accuracy of 91.25%, 93.66% and 90.91% when compared with USC-HAD, IMSB, and Mhealth datasets, respectively. We report the experimental observations of Bell inequality violations (BIV) in entangled photons causally separated by a rotating mirror. A Foucault mirror gating geometry is used to causally isolate the entangled photon source and detectors. We report an observed BIV of CHSH- S = 2.30 ± 0.07 > 2.00 . We consider entanglement harvesting in de Sitter space using a model of multiple qubit detectors. We obtain the formula of the entanglement negativity for this system. Applying the obtained formula, we find that it is possible to access to the entanglement on the super horizon scale if a sufficiently large number of detectors are prepared. The properties of decays that take place during jet formation cannot be easily deduced from the final distribution of particles in a detector. In this work, we first simulate a system of particles with well-defined masses, decay channels, and decay probabilities. This presents the "true system" for which we want to reproduce the decay probability distributions. Assuming we only have the data that this system produces in the detector, we decided to employ an iterative method which uses a neural network as a classifier between events produced in the detector by the "true system" and some arbitrary "test system". When we try to make the best estimate of some quantity, the problem of combining results from different experiments is encountered. In multi-sensor data fusion, the problem is seen as combining observations provided by different sensors. Sensors provide observations and information on an unknown quantity, which can differ in precision. We propose a combined estimate that uses prior information. We consider the simpler aspects of the problem, so that two sensors provide an observation of the same quantity. The standard error of the observations is supposed to be known. The prior information is an interval that bounds the parameter of the estimate. We derive the proposed combined estimate methodology, and we show its efficiency in the minimum mean square sense. The rehabilitation of a visually impaired person (VIP) is a systematic process where the person is provided with tools that allow them to deal with the impairment to achieve personal autonomy and independence, such as training for the use of the long cane as a tool for orientation and mobility (O&M). This process must be trained personally by specialists, leading to a limitation of human, technological and structural resources in some regions, especially those with economical narrow circumstances. A system to obtain information about the motion of the long cane and the leg using low-cost inertial sensors was developed to provide an overview of quantitative parameters such as sweeping coverage and gait analysis, that are currently visually analyzed during rehabilitation. The system was tested with 10 blindfolded volunteers in laboratory conditions following constant contact, two points touch, and three points touch travel techniques. The results indicate that the quantification system is reliable for measuring grip rotation, safety zone, sweeping amplitude and hand position using orientation angles with an accuracy of around 97.62%. However, a new method or an improvement of hardware must be developed to improve gait parameters' measurements, since the step length measurement presented a mean accuracy of 94.62%. The system requires further development to be used as an aid in the rehabilitation process of the VIP. Quantum key distribution (QKD) networks hold promise for sharing secure randomness over multi-partities. Most existing QKD network schemes and demonstrations are based on trusted relays or limited to point-to-point scenario. Here, we propose a flexible and extensible scheme named as open-destination measurement-device-independent QKD network. The scheme enjoys security against untrusted relays and all detector side-channel attacks. Particularly, any users can accomplish key distribution under assistance of others in the network. As an illustration, we show in detail a four-user network where two users establish secure communication and present realistic simulations by taking into account imperfections of both sources and detectors. Since the submarine has become the major threat to maritime security, there is an urgent need to find a more efficient method of anti-submarine warfare (ASW). The digital twin theory is one of the most outstanding information technologies, and has been quite popular in recent years. The most influential change produced by digital twin is the ability to enable real-time dynamic interactions between the simulation world and the real world. Digital twin can be regarded as a paradigm by means of which selected online measurements are dynamically assimilated into the simulation world, with the running simulation model guiding the real world adaptively in reverse. By combining digital twin theory and random finite sets (RFSs) closely, a new framework of sensor control in ASW is proposed. Two key algorithms are proposed for supporting the digital twin-based framework. First, the RFS-based data-assimilation algorithm is proposed for online assimilating the sequence of real-time measurements with detection uncertainty, data association uncertainty, noise, and clutters. Second, the computation of the reward function by using the results of the proposed data-assimilation algorithm is introduced to find the optimal control action. We examine the deployment of multiple mobile sensors to explore an unknown region to map regions containing concentration of a physical quantity such as heat, electron density, and so on. The exploration trades off between two desiderata: to continue taking data in a region known to contain the quantity of interest with the intent of refining the measurements vs. taking data in unobserved areas to attempt to discover new regions where the quantity may exist. Making reasonable and practical decisions to simultaneously fulfill both goals of exploration and data refinement seem to be hard and contradictory. For this purpose, we propose a general framework that makes value-laden decisions for the trajectory of mobile sensors. The framework employs a Gaussian process regression model to predict the distribution of the physical quantity of interest at unseen locations. Then, the decision-making on the trajectories of sensors is performed using an epistemic utility controller. We propose a schematic setup of quantum key distribution (QKD) with an improved secret key rate based on high-dimensional quantum states. Two degrees-of-freedom of a single photon, orbital angular momentum modes, and multi-path modes, are used to encode secret key information. Its practical implementation consists of optical elements that are within the reach of current technologies such as a multiport interferometer. We show that the proposed feasible protocol has improved the secret key rate with much sophistication compared to the previous 2-dimensional protocol known as the detector-device-independent QKD.
