A hygrophilous collembolan species, Akabosia matsudoensis is redescribed and illustrated with a list and key to other aquatic fauna belonging to Entomobryoidea from Korea. Specimens inhabiting the damp area near a creek were collected with hand net and aspirator. This species is characterized by the absence of scale, having 2 + 2 macrosetae on the vertex of the head, 2 feathered prelabial setae, dens crenulated and the base of mucro with bladder like appendage. Genus Akabosia reported only one species, A. matsudoensis, that was originally recorded in Japan; Korea is the second recorded country and it is the only Paronellidae from Korea.

A new species, Homidia pseudoformosana from Korea is described in the present paper. The new species is characterized by labral papillae, ciliated labial seta L1 and dorsal chaetotaxy of abdominal segment IV. The detailed differences between similar Homidia species are provided.

In order to elucidate the phylogenetic relationship among groups of the order Entomobryomorpha (Collembola), the sequences on the ITS 1 to ITS 2 fragments of the rRNA gene were analyzed in 11 species of three families. In order to avoid the potential risks and inconsistencies of a single method or data set, the phylogenetic reconstructions were based on three different approaches: methods of maximum parsimony, maximum likelihood and neighbor joining. The inferred phylogenies supported monophyly of the order Entomobryomorpha. The relationships between families were different, but the orders of branching within each family were the same. Entomobryidae and Isotomidae were paraphyletic, whereas Tomoceridae was monophyletic. Tomoceridae was subdivided into two branches; the molecular analysis provided results distinctive enough to separate the two genera by the high bootstrap value. On the other hand, two different populations of putative Homidia koreana appeared to be different species, although their chaetotaxy is identical. A wide coverage of characters, including not only morphological characters but also genetic data such as allozymes and DNA sequences, will give a more accurate picture of the classification and phylogeny of the studied group.

Three new species of Arrhopalites in the Symphypleona from Korea are described and illustrated. This work also records new occurrence of Arrhopalites habei Yosii, 1956, with brief remarks. A key to the identification of the Korean species of Arrhopalites is provided.

Three species of interstitial Collembola in Entomobryidae were identified from South Korean coast. One of them, Sinella (Coecobrya) maritima, is new to science. So far 21 halophilous species in 10 families of Collembola, including the new species in this paper, were reported from the Korean peninsula.

A new species, Desoria mulyeongariensis, shares some characters with D. choi (Lee), such as the number of setae on retinaculum and apical setae on manubrium. However, it could be easily distinguished from D. choi by the number of ommatidia. This species is also well characterized by having long and thickened smooth macrosetae on the body, and 6 basomedian setae on labium.
