The article reports on the competition among contractors in the U.S. for public works projects. Owen Olsen, the Associated General Contractors' district manager for southern Utah, says the Saint George Airport terminal replacement project in Washington County, Utah, attracted over 50 general contractors. According to Grant Moorhead, chief estimator in PCL Constructors, they have not dropped their margins but they are being more aggressive in their direct costs for self-performed work.
