The article looks at the allocation and distribution of funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 by several U.S. states. Transportation work received $49.3 billion which was praised by politicians and officials in cash-strapped state highway departments. For work on highways, roads and bridges, Caltrans will receive $1.72 billion of $2.6 billion. On the other hand, the state of Texas will receive $2.2 billion.
