The article discusses the challenges associated with the Army of 2020 (A2020) in terms of infrastructure in the U.S. It outlines three scenarios that will be covered in the set of conditions of the A2020 that will be performed by the Army Engineer School and Regiment to address the issues associated in the multitude of missions of the program. However, it also mentions the uncertainties of the program particularly the capabilities it require for the Regular Army to perform functions.

A personal narrative is presented which explores the author's experience of attending the U.S. Army Engineer School's Precommand Course.

The article focuses on the story of the 458th Engineer Battalion, United States Army Reserve, and how its Citizen Soldiers provided full spectrum engineer support to the 1st Cavalry Division in the urban environment of Baghdad, Iraq, during Operation Iraqi Freedom. The broad spectrum of missions the battalion accomplished reflects its adaptation of engineering doctrine to the contemporary operating environment, coupled with effective training and sound leadership. The flexibility of the Corps wheeled structure, when combined with the versatility of the Army Reserve's Citizen Soldiers, makes it an ideal organization for supporting divisional operations across the continuum of conflict.

Information on issues discussed during the engineer regimental conference ENFORCE 2012 that held in 2012 is presented. Various issues discussed in the conference includes emergence of cyberspace, role of energy on the U.S. Army and Theater security cooperation planning. The conference was attended by various people including Brigadier General Peter A. DeLuca, Sharon E. Burke, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Operational Energy Plans and Programs and Brigadier General Charles D. Martin.

Aims to show how the 458th Engineer Battalion took a division-directed mission and turned it into a forced multiplier for the 1st Cavalry Division. Mobilization of the battalion in support of the Operation Iraqi Freedom; Mission of conducting initial consequence management operations; Establishment of a platoon capable of performing initial incident command and search-and rescue assistance to a secure site.
