Abstract: A new design of decentralized load-frequency controller for interconnected power systems with ac-dc parallel using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm is proposed in this paper. A HVDC link is connected in parallel with an existing ac tie-line to stabilize the frequency oscillations of the ac system. Any optimum controller selected for load frequency control of interconnected power systems should not only stabilize the power system but also reduce the system frequency and tie line power oscillations and settling time of the output responses. In practice Load Frequency Control (LFC) systems use simple Proportional Integral (PI) or Integral (I) controller parameters are usually tuned based on classical or trial-and-error approaches, they are incapable of obtaining good dynamic performance for various load change scenarios in multi-area power system. For this reason, in this paper the PI and I control parameters are tuned based on PSO algorithm method for the LFC control in the two-area power system. A two area interconnected thermal power system is considered to demonstrate the validity of the proposed controller. The simulation results show that the proposed controller provides better dynamic responses with minimal frequency and tie-line power deviations, quick settling time and guarantees closed-loop stability margin. Abstract: Prefect fore-separation technology is the precondition and key to realize garbage synthesis treatment and increase resource utilization ratio. To the lower purity quotient and efficiency of plastic and paper separation, main factors influencing performance of horizontal flow separation are analyzed in detail, and reasonable processing and design parameter are studyed in this paper. Horizontal flow separator of urban garbage that structure is reasonable and parameter can be adjusted is designed. Abstract: Robot is widely used in industrial domain and pose accuracy of end-effector is an important indicator for judging robot performance. Calibration is a necessary for operating industrial robot and an effective and efficient means of accuracy improvement. This paper describes the development of a calibration procedure for a five degree of freedom serial robot using the laser tracker. The main goal of this paper is to utilize measurements relative to the end-effector of the robot to compensate errors. The robot kinematic model is computed to help identify the deviations. Robot parameter deviations can be identified so that the nominal parameters can be corrected. The experimental results are validated effectively. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: Digital Fountain code is a forward error correction code developed in recent years. The code does not need to know the channel information, and can be decoded with high probability. LT code is the first practical digital fountain code, it has fully inherited the advantages of digital fountain code. This paper introduces the concept and the classifications of Digital Fountain code, especially about the encoding and decoding process, the degree distribution and the application environment of LT code; the parameters of the degree distribution of LT code are discussed through the simulation, the optimization parameters of LT code are given and the importance of each parameter is analyzed; the paper has obtained the specific value of the decoding failure probability of Digital Fountain code; the effects of the amount of data received on LT code as well as the best amount of data have been studied; Finally, a model about how the Digital Fountain code can be used in the real application is given, make it gradually been used in the practical application. Abstract: This paper gives a novel temporal Tomlinson-Harashima Precoding (THP) and spatial detection joint processing algorithm for Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) frequency selective fading channels. Generally spatial and temporal signals are processed at transmitter side, or at receiver side, both are very complex indeed. In this paper, we propose a novel temporal THP (T-THP) and spatial decision feedback equalization (S-DFE) detection joint processing technique, at transmitter, T-THP to each sub-channel of MIMO channel model is performed, through this step, the channel model is changed into flat fading MIMO channel; Then at receiver side, adopt MIMO detection to cancel interference from different antenna or multi-user, and at last, the estimated signal will be got. Using this solution, we can change the space and time 2-dimension''s operation into two 1-dimension''s operation separately, and in each space, the algorithm is relative simple. Abstract: There are many methods available for Load frequency control in an interconnected power system. This paper deals with tuning of PID controller for Load frequency control. A two area thermal power system is considered for study. Both the areas are equipped with PID controller. Parameters of these PID controllers are obtained using Particle Swarm Optimization. A comparative study on tuned values has been presented to verify effectiveness. Ziegler-Nichols method is used for tuning of parameters for comparative study. The simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the designed system in terms of reduced settling time and oscillations. MATLAB/SIMULINK was used as simulation tool. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: In this paper, performance of the liquid desiccant dehumidification system in evaporation coolers was investigated by the Second Law of Thermodynamics analysis. This system was designed and manufactured for this purpose. Lithium chloride (LiCl), as liquid desiccant, and a packed bed column were used for dehumidification. The described system includes a part for processed air simulation in various temperatures and humidities. Entropy generation of the liquid desiccant dehumidifier was analyzed based on the second thermodynamic law. The effect of inlet parameters of the dehumidification column on the entropy generation was also investigated. The results showed that the entropy generation was highly dependent to operational conditions and inlet parameters of the desiccant dehumidification column. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: Centre of gravity (CG) is one of the significant parameters of vehicle mass property related to vehicle handling. Position of CG in each direction (longitudinal, lateral and vertical) affects stability of the vehicle eventually. Change in CG position depends on different architectural arrangements of drive train and sub-systems which affect mass distribution of the vehicle. Being zero-emission technology, rapid commercialization of electric vehicle (EV) requires more emphasis on production of new automobiles and retrofitting as well. In case of retrofitting, placement of all EV drive train and other sub-systems requires both static and dynamic analysis for change in CG position due to different mass distributions. In this paper, analysis has been conducted by MATLAB SIMULINK based vehicle model to demonstrate effect of CG in vehicle maneuvering. Outcome of this investigation indicates the evaluation of different retrofitted EV architectures considering different mass distributions under the constraint of vehicle mass and dimension. This study evaluates vehicle performance with different architectures to ensure safe handling and stability in both normal and sudden maneuvering conditions of the vehicle. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: Fast and accurate transient sensitivity computation is one of the key points for the success of circuit optimization programs and many EDA tools. In this paper, we propose an efficient strategy, based on Iterated Timing Analysis (ITA) and a modified Direct Approach for sensitivity computation, to perform sensitivity simulations for large-scale MOSFET circuits. This strategy considers optimization programs’ custom of using sensitivities, i.e. to take the sensitivities of few circuit variables with respect to many design parameters. Abstract: This paper investigates the Bit Error Probability (BEP) performance of Deterministic Extended Suzuki fading channel simulators. The analytical and approximate expressions of the BEP for coherent QPSK over Extended Suzuki fading channel are derived. Simulation results for the BEP are presented, by using a typical stochastic procedure Method of Exact Doppler Spread (MEDS) for the computation of the parameters of simulators. Abstract: This paper presents a fuzzy adaptive shape control system, which overcomes the shortcoming of simple PID controller and simple fuzzy controller. The PID parameters can be adjusted on-line in this system. The simulation result shows that the control system can improve the control performance and control quality of steel shape control. Abstract: Since the estimation of distribution algorithm(EDA) was introduced, different approaches for continuous problems solving have been developed. Through the efforts of many scholars, the EDAs brought some success in continuous domain, but there are still some deficiencies: Gaussian-based EDA doesn’t perform well in problems with many optima, such as Schwefel function; histogram-based EDA doesn’t perform well in problems with singular global optimum, such as Three-Peak function. Because of this, based on improved histogram-based EDA and referred to the idea of k-Means clustering, we built cooperative EDA. Experimental results showed that the improved algorithm in this paper can give comparable with or better performance than those improved algorithms. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: This paper designed automatic artillery chamber geometrical measurement device based on ARM920T microprocessor core and the WinCE system, which demanded in exact detecting manufacturing precision of artillery chamber in the process of machining artillery tube. Discussed the system component and entire structure, also, introduced the method in maeasuring geometrical parameters and Embedded System control strategies.
