Based on extremely uneven temperature distribution along the insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) chip vertical path during switching transients, a short-duration transient microsecond-scale prediction model applicable to multi-timescale simulation is presented in this paper. Traditional thermal models often take the chip active area as a uniform heat source to obtain a victual junction temperature (Tvj). In this paper, a discrete distributed heat source model combined with a thermal network model based on the sublayer division strategy is proposed to achieve an accurate temperature distribution description along the chip vertical path. Taking a 1700 V/3600 A IGBT module as an example, the proposed model can evaluate the short-duration transient temperature distribution along the chip vertical path and the error is less than 2 °C compared with the finite element model. Meanwhile, the model is applied to a single short-duration transient timescale and multi-timescale systems separately, and the simulation speed is increased by more than 80 times and 297 times, which verifies its validity and accuracy. With the continuous development of new power systems, the load demand on the user side is becoming more and more diverse and random, which also brings difficulties in the accurate prediction of power load. Although the introduction of deep learning algorithms has improved the prediction accuracy to a certain extent, it also faces problems such as large data requirements and low computing efficiency. An ultra-short-term load forecasting method based on the windowed XGBoost model is proposed, which not only reduces the complexity of the model, but also helps the model to capture the autocorrelation effect of the forecast object. At the same time, the real-time electricity price is introduced into the model to improve its forecast accuracy. By simulating the load data of Singapore's electricity market, it is proved that the proposed model has fewer errors than other deep learning algorithms, and the introduction of the real-time electricity price helps to improve the prediction accuracy of the model. The accuracy and stability of short-term photovoltaic (PV) power prediction is crucial for power planning and dispatching in a grid system. For this reason, the multi-resolution variational modal decomposition (MVMD) method is proposed to achieve multi-scale input features mining for short-term PV power prediction. Here, the MVMD combined with Spearman extracts correlation features of the weather data. An equilibrium optimizer (EO) is integrated with MVMD to achieve optimal values of the long short-term memory (LSTM) parameters. Firstly, the correlation of input features is determined and selected by Spearman. The MVMD model is used to mine the high correlation features of solar radiation and conduct cross-correlation analysis to extract input feature components. Secondly, the similar weather days of the sample set are classified to ensure a good adaptability in different weather situations. Finally, the high correlation features are introduced into the photovoltaic power prediction model of EO optimized LSTM. Performance analysis using actual output power data from a PV plant shows that the proposed MVMD feature extraction method can effectively mine correlation features to achieve an optimized dataset under different seasons. Compared with the gray wolf and particle swarm optimization algorithms, the proposed model has a better optimization performance in a low discrimination of input feature decomposition components and low correlation with output power. In this study, three-dimensional numerical simulations were established for a honeycomb ceramic conduit, and the effects of the inlet methane volume fraction, inlet velocity, and the conduit length on the gas temperature and flow resistance in the conduit were investigated. The simulation results indicate that the mean gas temperature first rises rapidly and then slowly, with an increasing inlet methane volume fraction. The mean gas temperature increases slightly with an increasing inlet velocity, and first increases and then decreases with an increasing conduit length. As the inlet methane volume fraction increases, the conduit pressure loss increases, but the increase rate gradually slows down. The conduit pressure loss increases approximately linearly with an increasing inlet velocity and conduit length. A prediction model for the pressure loss in the conduit was obtained by a theoretical analysis. The theoretical results agree well with the simulation results, and the deviations between the theoretical and simulation results were in the range of 3.7% to 12.3%. The precise prediction of coal seam thickness in operating mines is crucial for the construction of transparent mines. Geological borehole data or a small amount of seismic information is frequently used in traditional coal seam thickness prediction methods; however, these methods have poor precision. In this study, we introduced a model for predicting coal seam thickness based on the comprehensive preference for seismic attribute combination (CPSAC) and the least squares support vector machine (LS-SVM) optimized by the whale optimization algorithm (WOA). We used the CPSAC to modify the mass disturbed data in the seismic attribute data to predict the coal seam thickness. To achieve this the sample size was reduced by optimizing the seismic attribute combinations, and the modified attribute data was entered into the LS-SVM., Furthermore, to create an accurate prediction model for coal thickness, we employed the WOA to determine the optimal penalty coefficient and kernel coefficient of the LS-SVM. An empirical case study was conducted in the northeast mining area of the ZJ mine in the Huainan coalfield. The coal thickness of two mining faces in this research area were estimated and compared, demonstrating the proposed method's high prediction accuracy. Buildings use up to 40% of the global primary energy and 30% of global greenhouse gas emissions, which may significantly impact climate change. Heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems are among the most significant contributors to global primary energy consumption and carbon gas emissions. Furthermore, HVAC energy demand is expected to rise in the future. Therefore, advancements in HVAC systems' performance and design would be critical for mitigating worldwide energy and environmental concerns. To make such advancements, energy modeling and model predictive control (MPC) play an imperative role in designing and operating HVAC systems effectively. Building energy simulations and analysis techniques effectively implement HVAC control schemes in the building system design and operation phases, and thus provide quantitative insights into the behaviors of the HVAC energy flow for architects and engineers. Extensive research and advanced HVAC modeling/control techniques have emerged to provide better solutions in response to the issues. This study reviews building energy modeling techniques and state-of-the-art updates of MPC in HVAC applications based on the most recent research articles (e.g., from MDPI's and Elsevier's databases). For the review process, the investigation of relevant keywords and context-based collected data is first carried out to overview their frequency and distribution comprehensively. Then, this review study narrows the topic selection and search scopes to focus on relevant research papers and extract relevant information and outcomes. Finally, a systematic review approach is adopted based on the collected review and research papers to overview the advancements in building system modeling and MPC technologies. This study reveals that advanced building energy modeling is crucial in implementing the MPC-based control and operation design to reduce building energy consumption and cost. In this paper, the response surface methodology (RSM) is used to predict the flashover voltage of a cap and pin 1512L insulator used by SONELGAZ Algerian Power Company (SPE). The pollution and conductivity are studied using a two-level central composite design. MINITAB 19 software is used to perform the regression analysis and analysis of variance (ANOVA) of the data, from which the full quadratic model is developed. The results show that both the pollution and conductivity have a significant effect on the response. The model validation shows the good agreement between the experiment's obtained results and the predicted results. Therefore, the model could be used to predict the flashover voltage. There are many factors affecting the assembly quality of rotate vector reducer, and the assembly quality is unstable. Matching is an assembly method that can obtain high-precision products or avoid a large number of secondary rejects. Selecting suitable parts to assemble together can improve the transmission accuracy of the reducer. In the actual assembly of the reducer, the success rate of one-time selection of parts is low, and "trial and error assembly" will lead to a waste of labor, time cost, and errors accumulation. In view of this situation, a dendritic neural network prediction model based on mass production and practical engineering applications has been established. The size parameters of the parts that affected transmission error of the reducer were selected as influencing factors for input. The key performance index of reducer was transmission error as output index. After data standardization preprocessing, a quality prediction model was established to predict the transmission error. The experimental results show that the dendritic neural network model can realize the regression prediction of reducer mass and has good prediction accuracy and generalization capability. In this paper, model predictive control (MPC) is proposed for single-phase electric springs (ESs) with the help of the existing δ control, which is realized by controlling the instantaneous phase angle of the predefined sinusoidal reference of a certain controller. System modeling is analyzed first to get differential forms of state variables. The discrete-time state space model is obtained through first-order approximation. Critical load (CL) voltage can be predicted by the prediction of ES voltage and line current. The operating modes of ESs can be determined and the reference signal for CL voltage can be provided by δ control. As a result, cost function is obtained as the absolute value of the error between predicted CL voltage and its predefined reference. Two typical operating functions such as pure reactive power compensation mode and power factor correction (PFC) mode are selected and simulated to validate the proposed control and analysis. It is revealed that both control objectives can be achieved with the proposed MPC and δ control. The solid-state transformer is the enabling technology for the future of electric power systems. The increasing relevance of this equipment demands higher standards for efficiency and losses reduction. The dual active bridge (DAB) topology is the most usual DC-DC converter used in the solid-state transformer, and is responsible for part of its switching losses. The traditional phase-shift modulation used on DAB converters presents significant switching losses during the operation with reduced loads. The alternative Triangular and Trapezoidal Modulations have been proposed in recent literature; however, there are limitations on the maximum power these techniques can deal with. This paper presents an adaptive model predictive control to select among these three techniques, according to the converter model, the one that minimizes the switching losses and allows the current demanded by the load. Moreover, an alternative cost function is proposed, including the output voltage and current. Through real-time simulation, using a 1000 V/600 V 12 kW DAB converter, it is shown that the proposed control is able to reduce the losses on the converter. This work reviews from a unified viewpoint the concepts underlying the "nth-Order Comprehensive Adjoint Sensitivity Analysis Methodology for Response-Coupled Forward/Adjoint Linear Systems" (nth-CASAM-L) and the "nth-Order Comprehensive Adjoint Sensitivity Analysis Methodology for Nonlinear Systems" (nth-CASAM-N) methodologies. The practical application of the nth-CASAM-L methodology is illustrated for an OECD/NEA reactor physics benchmark, while the practical application of the nth-CASAM-N methodology is illustrated for a nonlinear model of reactor dynamics that exhibits periodic and chaotic oscillations. As illustrated both by the general theory and by the examples reviewed in this work, both the nth-CASAM-L and nth-CASAM-N methodologies overcome the curse of dimensionality in sensitivity analysis. The availability of efficiently and exactly computed sensitivities of arbitrarily high order can lead to major advances in all areas that need such high-order sensitivities, including data assimilation, model calibration, uncertainty reduction, and predictive modeling. The model-free predictive control (MFPC) scheme is an effective scheme to enhance the parameter robustness of model predictive control. However, the MFPC scheme can be affected by the current gradient updating frequency. This paper proposes an improved MFPC scheme for a T-type three-level inverter. First, a novel current gradient updating method is designed to estimate all current gradients per control period, which uses the current gradient relationship between different voltage vectors and eliminates the effect of current gradients updating stagnation. Moreover, a sector judgment method based on the current gradient is proposed. Redundant small vectors are accurately judged and the computational burden is greatly reduced. This paper describes the effect of the incidence angle of the bucket on the performance of the axial turbine stage. The off-design operating conditions of the turbine stage result in a change in the velocity diagrams. This results in a positive or negative incidence. One of the basic objectives in turbine stage design is to estimate the flow behaviour of the turbine stage during off-design operation as accurately as possible and to quantify the corresponding decrease in efficiency. The available loss prediction models allow the estimation of the loss distribution when the incidence angle changes in the preliminary design phase. However, the incidence angle is actually affected by the velocity of circulation, which changes the input velocity vector (induced incidence). Thus, the blade row angle of attack is different from the angle based on the velocity diagram calculations. This paper proposes a model-based predictive control strategy based on mixed-integer linear programming for a photovoltaic power plant with battery energy storage. The control objective is to maximize the revenues from energy delivered from both photovoltaic panels and batteries to the grid in a deregulated electricity market. For each control interval, the proposed algorithm incorporates information on solar radiation, market prices, and the state of charge of the batteries to determine the intervals of energy injection into the grid to maximize the economic benefits. The proposed strategy considers the rate-based variable efficiency in the battery model and time-varying energies prices, thus providing a more general implementation than previous schemes proposed in the literature for the same purpose. Simulations considering the operational procedures of the Spanish market as a case study show that, by integrating the battery efficiency in the model, the proposed control strategy increments the economic benefits in 21% compared to previous results reported in the literature for the same operational conditions. The development of the Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) technology has enabled wider options for wind turbine control, in particular regarding disturbance rejection. The LIDAR measurements provide a spatial, preview wind information, based on which the controller has a better chance to cope with the wind disturbance before it affects the turbine operation. In this paper, a model predictive controller for above-rated wind turbine control was developed with the use of pseudo-LIDAR wind measurements data. A predictive control algorithm was developed based on a linearised wind turbine model, in which the disturbance from the incoming wind was computed by the LIDAR simulator. The optimal control action was applied to the nonlinear turbine model. The developed controller was compared with the baseline control and a previously developed LIDAR-assisted control combining a feedback-and-feedforward design. Our simulation studies on a 5 MW nonlinear wind turbine model, under different wind conditions, demonstrated that the developed LIDAR-based predictive control achieved improved performance in the presence of small variations in the out-of-plane rotor torque and fore-aft tower acceleration, as well as a smoother generator speed regulation and satisfied pitch activity control constraints. Predicting the output power of wind generators is essential to improve grid flexibility, which is vulnerable to power supply variability and uncertainty. Digital twins can help predict the output of a wind turbine using a variety of environmental data generated by real-world systems. This paper dealt with the development of a physics-based output prediction model (P-bOPM) for a 10 MW floating offshore wind turbine (FOWT) for a digital twin. The wind power generator dealt with in this paper was modeled considering the NREL 5 MW standard wind turbine with a semi-submersible structure. A P-bOPM of a 10 MW FOWT for a digital twin was designed and simulated using ANSYS Twin Builder. By connecting the P-bOPM developed for the digital twin implementation with an external sensor through TCP/IP communication, it was possible to calculate the output of the wind turbine using real-time field data. As a result of evaluating the P-bOPM for various marine environments, it showed good accuracy. The digital twin equipped with the P-bOPM, which accurately reflects the variability of the offshore wind farm and can predict the output in real time, will be a great help in improving the flexibility of the power system in the future. Smooth power injection is one of the possible services that modern wind farms could provide in the not-so-far future, for which energy storage is required. Indeed, this is one among the three possible operations identified by the International Energy Agency (IEA)-Hydrogen Implementing Agreement (HIA) within the Task 24 final report, that may promote their integration into the main grid, in particular when paired to hydrogen-based energy storages. In general, energy storage can mitigate the inherent unpredictability of wind generation, providing that they are deployed with appropriate control algorithms. On the contrary, in the case of no storage, wind farm operations would be strongly affected, as well as their economic performances since the penalty fees wind farm owners/operators incur in case of mismatches between the contracted power and that actually delivered. This paper proposes a Model Predictive Control (MPC) algorithm that operates a Hydrogen-based Energy Storage System (HESS), consisting of one electrolyzer, one fuel cell and one tank, paired to a wind farm committed to smooth power injection into the grid. The MPC relies on Mixed-Logic Dynamic (MLD) models of the electrolyzer and the fuel cell in order to leverage their advanced features and handles appropriate cost functions in order to account for the operating costs, the potential value of hydrogen as a fuel and the penalty fee mechanism that may negatively affect the expected profits generated by the injection of smooth power. Numerical simulations are conducted by considering wind generation profiles from a real wind farm in the center-south of Italy and spot prices according to the corresponding market zone. The results show the impact of each cost term on the performances of the controller and how they can be effectively combined in order to achieve some reasonable trade-off. In particular, it is highlighted that a static choice of the corresponding weights can lead to not very effective handling of the effects given by the combination of the system conditions with the various exogenous', while a dynamic choice may suit the purpose instead. Deterioration trend prediction of hydropower units helps to detect abnormal conditions of hydropower units and can prevent early failures. The reliability and accuracy of the prediction results are crucial to ensure the safe operation of the units and promote the stable operation of the power system. In this paper, the long short-term neural network (LSTM) is introduced, a comprehensive deterioration index (CDI) trend prediction model based on the time–frequency domain is proposed, and the prediction accuracy of the situation trend of hydropower units is improved. Firstly, the time–domain health model (THM) is constructed with back-propagation neural network (BPNN) and condition parameters of active power, guide vane opening and blade opening and the time–domain indicators. Subsequently, a frequency-domain health model (FHM) is established based on ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD), approximate entropy (ApEn), and k-means clustering algorithm. Later, the time–domain degradation index (TDI) is developed according to THM, the frequency-domain degradation index (FDI) is constructed according to FHM, and the CDI is calculated as a weighted sum by TDI and FDI. Finally, the prediction model of LSTM is proposed based on the CDI to achieve degradation trend prediction. In order to validate the effectiveness of the CDI and the accuracy of the prediction model, the vibration waveform dataset of a hydropower plant in China is taken as a case study and compared with four different prediction models. In the extremely competitive environment of shipping, minimizing shipping cost is the key factor for the survival and growth of shipping companies. However, stricter rules and regulations that aim at the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions published by the International Maritime Organization, force shipping companies to increase the operational efficiency of their fleet. The prediction of a ship speed in actual seas with a given power by its engine is the most important performance indicator and thus makes it the "holy grail" in pursuing better efficiency. Traditionally, tank model tests and semi-empirical formulas were the preferred solution for the aforementioned prediction and are still widely applied. However, currently, with the increased computational power that is widely available, novel and more sophisticated methods taking into consideration computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and machine learning (ML) algorithms are emerging. In this paper, we briefly present the different approaches in the prediction of a ship's speed but focus on ML methods comparing a representative number of the latest data-driven models used in papers, to provide guidelines, discover trends and identify the challenges to be faced by researchers. From this comparison, we can distinguish that artificial neural networks (ANN), being used in 73.3% of the reviewed papers, dominate as the algorithm of choice. Researchers mostly rely on physical laws governing the phenomena in the crucial part of data preprocessing tasks. In order to accurately predict China's future total energy consumption, this article constructs a random forest (RF)–sparrow search algorithm (SSA)–support vector regression machine (SVR)–kernel density estimation (KDE) model to forecast China's future energy consumption in 2022–2030. It is explored whether China can reach the relevant target in 2030. This article begins by using a random forest model to screen for influences to be used as the input set for the model. Then, the sparrow search algorithm is applied to optimize the SVR to overcome the drawback of difficult parameter setting of SVR. Finally, the model SSA-SVR is applied to forecast the future total energy consumption in China. Then, interval forecasting was performed using kernel density estimation, which enhanced the predictive significance of the model. By comparing the prediction results and error values with those of RF-PSO-SVR, RF-SVR and RF-BP, it is demonstrated that the combined model proposed in the paper is more accurate. To mine the battery's health factors more comprehensively and accurately identify the lithium battery's State of Health (SOH), an Improved Douglas–Peucker feature extraction algorithm is proposed, and the LAOS-XGboost model is proposed to be used to predict the SOH of the battery. Firstly, to solve the problem that the traditional Douglas–Peucker algorithm has difficulties extracting curve features in a fixed dimension, the Douglas–Peucker algorithm is improved by de-thresholding. Then, the Wrapper method combined with the Improved Douglas–Peucker algorithm is used to construct the feature engineering of battery life prediction, and the optimal feature subset is obtained. Then, LAOS-XGboost is used to establish a battery SOH prediction model; finally, this model is used to predict the SOH of different batteries and the same battery, and the robustness of the model is analyzed. The experimental results show that the R2 of all XGboost models is higher than 0.97 in the prediction experiments of different batteries. The AE of the LAOS-XGboost model is 0, and the TIC index is less than 3% under 10 dB SNR. In the same battery prediction experiment, the TIC index of the model is less than 0.3%. Maintaining stability and control over the electric system requires increasing information about the consumers' profiling due to changes in the form of electricity generation and consumption. To overcome this trouble, short-term load forecasting (STLF) on individual consumers gained importance in the last years. Nonetheless, predicting the profile of an individual consumer is a difficult task. The main challenge lies in the uncertainty related to the individual consumption profile, which increases forecasting errors. Thus, this paper aims to implement a load predictive model focused on individual consumers taking into account its randomness. For this purpose, a methodology is proposed to determine and select predictive features for individual STLF. The load forecasting of an individual consumer is simulated based on the four main machine learning techniques used in the literature. A 2.73% reduction in the forecast error is obtained after the correct selection of the predictive features. Compared to the baseline model (persistent forecasting method), the error is reduced by up to 19.8%. A path following control strategy for a four-wheel-independent-drive electrical vehicle (4WID-EV) based on backstepping and model predictive control is presented, which can ensure the accuracy of path following and maintain vehicle stability simultaneously. Firstly, a 2-DOF vehicle dynamic model and a path following error model are built and the desired yaw rate is obtained through backstepping. Then, a model predictive controller is adopted to track the desired yaw rate and obtain the optimal front wheel steering and external yaw moment. Meanwhile, an optimal torque distribution algorithm is carried out to allocate it to each tire. Finally, the effectiveness and superiority of the strategy is validated via CarSim–Simulink joint simulation. Although smart farms are considered an alternative to traditional agriculture, they require large amounts of energy and high investment costs, hindering their efficient implementation. In the Republic of Korea, the energy supply is primarily for heating rather than cooling, necessitating the accurate prediction of the greenhouse internal temperature to determine the feasibility of agricultural management while using renewable energy. This study developed a model (TRNSYS) for predicting the internal temperature of a greenhouse using building energy simulation. A greenhouse heating experiment was conducted using a hybrid heating system simulated by TRNSYS to analyze the prediction model. The regression analysis of the experimental and simulation results revealed an R2 and RMSE of 0.8834 and 3.61, respectively. A comparative analysis was conducted with the existing hot air heating system to evaluate the heating performance and economic feasibility of the hybrid system. Some novel applications require the tracking/rejection of biased sinusoidal reference/distur-bances. According to the internal model principle (IMP), a controller must embed the model of a biased sinusoidal signal to track references and also reject perturbations modeled through the aforementioned signal. However, the design of that kind of controller is not straightforward, especially when they are implemented in digital processors. This paper presents a controller, based on generalized predictive control (GPC), designed for tracking/rejection of biased sinusoidal signals. In general, GPC is based on the prediction of the plant responses through an augmented prediction model. The proposed approach develops an augmented model that predicts the future errors. The prediction model and the control law used in the proposed approach embed the discrete-time model of a biased sinusoidal signal. Thus, the proposed controller can track/reject biased sinusoidal references/disturbances. The predicted errors and the future inputs of the proposed augmented model are used to define the cost function that measures the control performance. An optimization technique was applied to obtain the solution of the cost function, which is the optimal sequence of future model inputs that allows defining the control law. Electrified vehicles (EV) and marine vessels represent promising clean transportation solutions to reduce or eliminate petroleum fuel use, greenhouse gas emissions and air pollutants. The presently commonly used electric energy storage system (ESS) is based on lithium-ion batteries. These batteries are the electrified or hybridized powertrain's most expensive component and show noticeable performance degradations under different use patterns. Therefore, battery life prediction models play a key role in realizing globally optimized EV design and energy control strategies. This research studies the data-driven modelling and prediction methods for Li-ion batteries' performance degradation behaviour and the state of health (SOH) estimation. The research takes advantage of the increasingly available battery test and data to reduce prediction errors of the widely used semi-empirical modelling methods. Several data-driven modelling techniques have been applied, improved, and compared to identify their advantages and limitations. Experimental studies have shown that bioethanol production from biomass sources has been reported to be influenced by several process parameters. It is not entirely known, however, how the interaction of these factors affects the concentration of bioethanol production. In this study, the use of Gaussian Process Regression (GPR) in predictive modeling of bioethanol production from fountain grass has been investigated. Parametric analysis showing the interaction effect of time, pH, temperature, and yeast extract on the bioethanol production was examined. The effect of kernel functions on the performance of the GPR in modeling the prediction of bioenergy output was also examined. The study shows that the kernel function, namely, rotational quadratic (RQGPR), squared exponential (SEGPR), Matern 5/2 (MGPR), exponential (EGPR), and the optimizable (Opt.GPR.), had varying effects on the performance of the GPR. Coefficients of determination (R2) of 0.648, 0.670, 0.667, 0.762, and 0.993 were obtained for the RQGPR, SEGPR, MGPR, EGPR, OptGPR, respectively. The OptGPR with R2 of 0.993 and RMSE of 45.13 displayed the best performance. The input parameters analysis revealed that the pH of the fermentation medium significantly influences bioethanol production. Finite-set model predictive controls have been widely used in inverter control because of the flexible target control and no need of a modulation unit. However, the mismatching of prediction model parameters produces prediction errors, resulting in a significant decline in the performance of finite-set model predictive controls. Aiming at the problem of model parameter mismatch, an extended-state observer was proposed to accurately estimate the disturbance of the system in this paper, and the obtained disturbance value was added to a finite-set model predictive control controller to compensate for the prediction error and achieve parameter robustness. By constructing a prediction model of the inverter output voltage in αβ coordinates, all the possible output voltage values were predicted by using different voltage vectors and system measurement values. A set of voltage vectors that minimized the cost function was selected, and its corresponding switching state was applied to the inverter in the next sampling period to achieve control of the output voltage quality. Both the simulation and experimental results showed that the finite-set model predictive voltage control method based on the extended-state observer can estimate the total disturbance quickly and accurately, suppress the influence of capacitance parameter disturbance, and improve the control effect of an inverter. This paper proposes a learning-based finite control set model predictive control (FCS-MPC) to improve the performance of DC-DC buck converters interfaced with constant power loads in a DC microgrid (DC-MG). An approach based on deep reinforcement learning (DRL) is presented to address one of the ongoing challenges in FCS-MPC of the converters, i.e., optimal design of the weighting coefficients appearing in the FCS-MPC objective function for each converter. A deep deterministic policy gradient method is employed to learn the optimal weighting coefficient design policy. A Markov decision method formulates the DRL problem. The DRL agent is trained for each converter in the MG, and the weighting coefficients are obtained based on reward computation with the interactions between the MG and agent. The proposed strategy is wholly distributed, wherein agents exchange data with other agents, implying a multi-agent DRL problem. The proposed control scheme offers several advantages, including preventing the dependency of the converter control system on the operating point conditions, plug-and-play capability, and robustness against the MG uncertainties and unknown load dynamics. In the traditional coal-mine gas-concentration prediction process, problems such as low timeliness of data and low efficiency of the prediction model in learning data features result in low accuracy of the final prediction. To solve these problems, a gas-concentration prediction method driven by the Spark Streaming framework is proposed. In this research study, the Spark Streaming framework, autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) model and support vector machine (SVM) model are used to construct a new prediction model called the SPARS model. The Spark Streaming framework is used to process large batches of real-time streaming data in a short period of time, and the model can be used to intermittently update and optimize the prediction model so that the model can fully learn the characteristics of the data. At the same time, the advantages of the ARIMA model and SVM model for processing linear data and nonlinear data are combined to improve the model's prediction efficiency and fully reflect the timeliness of gas prediction. Finally, the proposed prediction model is verified using gas data collected on site. The optimal learning time for the SPARS model in predicting this set of data is determined, and a comparative analysis of the prediction results obtained from the ARIMA, SVM and other models fully confirms that high-precision prediction results can be obtained using the SPARS model. Aiming to accurately identify the state of health (SOH) and the remaining useful life (RUL) of lithium-ion batteries, in this paper, we propose an algorithm for the health factor extraction and SOH prediction of the batteries based on discrete wavelet transform and the Cauchy–Gaussian variation tent sparrow search algorithm (DWT-CGTSSA). Firstly, concerning the inconsistent data length, discrete wavelet transform (DWT) was adopted to decompose the battery's signals and extract features. Then, the Cauchy–Gaussian variation tent sparrow search algorithm (CGTSSA) was utilized to extract features and obtain the optimal feature subset after encoding. Finally, the optimal feature subset was used to establish a prediction model based on CatBoost for predicting the SOH of lithium-ion batteries. Experiments were conducted for verification. The experimental results showed that the model established in this research is capable of realizing the prediction between different battery packs. The B0005 battery from dataset A was taken as the training set to predict the complete SOH of B0006 and B0007 batteries. For the prediction model of CGTSSA-CatBoost, the goodness of fit (R2) exceeded 0.99, and the value of mean square error (MSE) was less than 1‰. A comparison with other state-of-the-art prediction models verified the superior performance of the CGTSSA-CatBoost model. Power converter technology has expanded into a wide range of low, medium, and high power applications due to the ability to manage electrical energy efficiently. In this regard, the modular multilevel converter has become a viable alternative to ensure an optimal harmonic profile with a sinusoidal voltage at the load side. Model predictive control (MPC) is a state-of-the-art technique that has been successfully used to control power electronic converters due to its ability to handle multiple control objectives. Nevertheless, in the classical MPC approach, the optimal vector is applied during the whole sampling period producing an output voltage. This solution causes an unbalanced switching frequency of the power semiconductor, which then causes unbalanced stress on the power devices. Credit default prediction for the energy industry is essential to promoting the healthy development of the energy industry in China. While previous studies have constructed various credit default prediction models with brilliant performance, the class-imbalance problem in the credit default dataset cannot be ignored, where the numbers of credit default cases are usually much smaller than the number of non-default ones. To address the class-imbalance problem, we proposed a novel CT-XGBoost model, which adds to XGBoost with two algorithm-level methods for class imbalance, including the cost-sensitive strategy and threshold method. Based on the credit default dataset consisting of energy corporates in western China, which suffers from the class-imbalance problem, the CT-XGBoost model achieves better performance than the conventional models. The results indicate that the proposed model can efficiently alleviate the inherent class-imbalance problem in the credit default dataset. Moreover, we analyze how the prediction performance is influenced by different parameter settings in the cost-sensitive strategy and threshold method. This work describes the development of a fast Model Predictive Control (MPC) algorithm for a Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cell. The MPC cost-function used considers the sum of absolute values of predicted control errors (the L 1 norm). Unlike previous approaches to nonlinear MPC-L 1 , in which quite complicated neural approximators have been used, two analytical approximators of the absolute value function are utilised. An advanced trajectory linearisation is performed on-line. As a result, an easy-to-solve quadratic optimisation task is derived. All implementation details of the discussed algorithm are detailed for two considered approximators. Furthermore, the algorithm is thoroughly compared with the classical MPC-L 2 method in which the sum of squared predicted control errors is minimised. A multi-criteria control quality assessment is performed as the MPC-L 1 and MPC-L 2 algorithms are compared using four control quality indicators. The article presents a cluster analysis of the EU-27 countries. The clusters were built to identify groups of countries similar to each other in relation to the set of Eurostat indicators from the Climate Change Drivers and Environment and Energy sections. During the research, tools of spatial information systems were used, such as cluster analysis, diagram maps, rasterization and the TSA method. ARIMA prediction models were also used. The research aims to verify our hypotheses. Particular attention was paid to Poland; therefore, it was verified whether the composition of the country's energy mix translated into excessive emissions of pollutants in relation to other EU countries. Furthermore, the level of integration of energy markets in the European Union and its changes over time were examined. The authors also proposed a methodology to create detailed energy and climate strategies for designated clusters. A frequency and voltage control strategy based on a decentralized and communication-less approach is proposed in this work and applied to Photovoltaic-Storage-Microturbine islanded Microgrids (MGs). The approach is based on the Model Predictive Control (MPC) technique. Thanks to the use of local measurements, each source can nullify the steady-state voltage and frequency errors by means of a dedicated MPC controller. This study investigates a prediction model for the cycle injection quantity in a high-pressure common rail injector under a transient thermal boundary. The results show that the transient temperature increase curve calculated by the mathematical model of the common rail injector under adiabatic flow is significantly different from the experimental data. A non-isothermal model of the injector coupled with heat transfer is established, which considers the actual heat transfer phenomenon. The excellent agreement between the new calculation results and the experimental data confirms that the fuel injection process of a common rail injector comprises the coupled phenomena of fuel heating and heat transfer. Based on the established simulation model, it is found that in the continuous injection process of the injector, owing to the thermal effect of injection, the cycle injection quantity decreases gradually with an increase in the injector working time and then stabilizes. Under the condition of an injection pulse width of 1.2 ms and frequency of 100 Hz, when the injection pressure increases from 140 MPa to 300 MPa, the reduction in the cycle injection quantity increases from 3.9% to 7.8%, because the higher injection pressure results in higher transient heat at the nozzle holes. In the work of common rail injector assemblies, to achieve more accurate control of the cycle injection quantity, it is necessary to include the correction of a decreasing cycle injection quantity caused by transient heat in the electronic control system. To accurately and reliably predict the occurrence of rockburst disasters, a rockburst intensity level prediction model based on FA-SSA-PNN is proposed. Crding to the internal and external factors of rockburst occurrence, six rockburst influencing factors (σθ, σt, σc, σc/σt, σθ/σc, Wet) were selected to build a rockburst intensity level prediction index system. Seventy-five sets of typical rockburst case data at home and abroad were collected, the original data were preprocessed based on factor analysis (FA), and the comprehensive rockburst prediction indexes, CPI1, CPI2, and CPI3, obtained after dimensionality reduction, were used as the input features of the SSA-PNN model. Sixty sets of rockburst case data were extracted as the training set, and the remaining 15 sets of rockburst case data were used as the test set. After the model training was completed, the model prediction results were analysed and evaluated. The research results show that the proposed rockburst intensity level prediction method based on the FA-SSA-PNN model has the advantages of high prediction accuracy and fast convergence, which can accurately and reliably predict the rockburst intensity level in a short period of time and can be used as a new method for rockburst intensity level prediction, providing better guidance for rockburst prediction problems in deep rock projects. A novel hybrid model is proposed to improve the accuracy of ultra-short-term wind speed prediction by combining the improved complete ensemble empirical mode decomposition with adaptive noise (ICEEMDAN), the sample entropy (SE), optimized recurrent broad learning system (ORBLS), and broadened temporal convolutional network (BTCN). First, ICEEMDAN is introduced to smooth the nonlinear part of the wind speed data by decomposing the raw wind speed data into a series of sequences. Second, SE is applied to quantitatively assess the complexity of each sequence. All sequences are divided into simple sequence set and complex sequence set based on the values of SE. Third, based on the typical broad learning system (BLS), we propose ORBLS with cyclically connected enhancement nodes, which can better capture the dynamic characteristics of the wind. The improved particle swarm optimization (PSO) is used to optimize the hyper-parameters of ORBLS. Fourth, we propose BTCN by adding a dilated causal convolution layer in parallel to each residual block, which can effectively alleviate the local information loss of the temporal convolutional network (TCN) in case of insufficient time series data. Note that ORBLS and BTCN can effectively predict the simple and complex sequences, respectively. To validate the performance of the proposed model, we conducted three predictive experiments on four data sets. Accurate online capacity estimation and life prediction of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) are crucial to large-scale commercial use for electric vehicles. The data-driven method lately has drawn great attention in this field due to efficient machine learning, but it remains an ongoing challenge in the feature extraction related to battery lifespan. Some studies focus on the features only in the battery constant current (CC) charging phase, regardless of the joint impact including the constant voltage (CV) charging phase on the battery aging, which can lead to estimation deviation. In this study, we analyze the features of the CC and CV phases using the optimized incremental capacity (IC) curve, showing the strong relevance between the IC curve in the CC phase as well as charging capacity in the CV phase and battery lifespan. Then, the life prediction model based on automated machine learning (AutoML) is established, which can automatically generate a suitable pipeline with less human intervention, overcoming the problem of redundant model information and high computational cost. The proposed method is verified on NASA's LIBs cycle life datasets, with the MAE increased by 52.8% and RMSE increased by 48.3% compared to other methods using the same datasets and training method, accomplishing an obvious enhancement in online life prediction with small-scale datasets. For a single-phase Shunt Active Power Filter (SAPF) with a two-step prediction, this research presents a modified current control based on a Model Predictive Current Control (MPCC) technique. An H-bridge inverter, a DC link capacitor, and a filter inductor comprise the single-phase SAPF topology. The SAPF reference current is computed using the DC-link capacitor voltage regulation-based PI control technique. The weighting factor-based model predictive current controller is used to track the current commands. The essential dynamic index for evaluating waveform quality is the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of a source current and switching frequency of power switches. The conventional methods the THD and switching frequency are not considered as an objective function, so that a weighting factor-based MPCC technique is used to obtain a good compromise between the THD of the source current and switching frequency of power switches. Through MATLAB simulation and experimentation with the Cyclone-IV EP4CE30F484 FPGA board, the usefulness of the proposed control technique is proven. As compared with hysteresis, predictive PWM, and conventional MPCC control methods, the cost function-based MPCC algorithm provides a lower switching frequency (13.4 kHz) with an optimal source current THD value. In the drilling industry, it is of great significance to accurately predict the drag coefficient and settling velocity of drill cuttings falling in the non-Newtonian drilling fluid. However, the irregular shape of drill cuttings and the non-Newtonian rheological properties of drilling fluid (e.g., shear-thinning and yield stress behavior) make it challenging to predict the settling velocity. In this study, the velocity of particle settlement was studied by a visual device and high-speed camera system. Experimental data of the free settlement of 224 irregular drilling cuttings and 105 spherical particles in the Herschel–Bulkley fluid were obtained. A mechanical model dependent on the force balance of settlement particles was adopted to conduct a detailed statistical analysis of the experimental results, and a prediction model of the drag coefficient of spherical particles in the Herschel–Bulkley fluid was established. A two-dimensional shape description parameter is introduced to establish a model for predicting the drag coefficient of irregular-shaped cuttings in a Herschel–Bulkley fluid. The model has high prediction accuracy for the settling velocity of irregular shale cuttings in Herschel–Bulkley fluid. The average relative error is 7.14%, verifying the model's accuracy. With the increasing severity of climate change, the power industry, as one of the main sources of carbon emissions, is playing an extremely important role in the process of low-carbon energy transformation. The purpose of this paper is to try to find a general method to solve the optimal path for the low-carbon evolution of the power supply structure so as to meet the challenges faced by the low-carbon transformation of the power industry in the future. This paper first uses the capacity coefficient index (CCI) to represent the power generation ability of different technologies and proposes a forecasting method for the CCI of renewable energy generation. In this paper, a two-layer optimization model considering multiple constraints is established and solved using the MPC method. The results show that China's installed capacity of renewable power could account for more than 50% in 2030, while the carbon emissions will decrease after reaching a peak in 2023. On the premise of ensuring sufficient reserve adjustment capacity of thermal power units, increasing the proportion of renewable energy generation is an important way to realize emission reduction in the power industry. Well planning for every drilling project includes cost estimation. Maximizing the rate of penetration (ROP) reduces the time required for drilling, resulting in reducing the expenses required for the drilling budget. The empirical formulas developed to predict ROP have limited field applications. Since real-time drilling data acquisition and computing technologies have improved over the years, we implemented the data-driven approach for this purpose. We investigated the potential of machine learning and deep learning algorithms to predict the nonlinear behavior of the ROP. The well was drilled to confirm the geothermal reservoir characteristics for the FORGE site. After cleaning and preprocessing the data, we selected two models and optimized their hyperparameters. According to our findings, the random forest regressor and the artificial neural network predicted the behavior of our field ROP with a maximum absolute mean error of 3.98, corresponding to 19% of the ROP's standard deviation. A tool was created to assist engineers in selecting the best drilling parameters that increase the ROP for future drilling tasks. Accurate wind speed prediction is a premise that guarantees the reliable operation of the power grid. This study presents a combined prediction model that integrates data preprocessing, cascade optimization, and deep learning prediction to improve prediction performance. In data preprocessing, the wavelet soft threshold denoising (WSTD) is employed to filter the blurring noise of the original data. Then, the robust empirical mode decomposition (REMD) and adaptive variational mode decomposition (AVMD) are adopted to carry out a two-stage adaptive decomposition. Spearman correlation is used to quantify the mode that need to be decomposed for the second time. In the cascade optimization, the hybrid grey wolf algorithm (HGWO) is employed to optimize the parameters of the VMD and the gated recurrent unit (GRU), which overcomes the problem of empirical parameter adjustment. The HGWO is also adopted in the prediction strategy to optimize the GRU model to predict the grouped intrinsic mode functions (IMFs). Lastly, the final wind speed prediction result is obtained by superimposing the values of all the predicted models. The proposed model was validated with the measured wind speed data of the four quarters in the Bay area of China and was compared with 20 models of the classic method to further evaluate the effectiveness of the model. This paper shows an increase in the robustness of a DFIG-based wind energy system when a predictive-repetitive controller in the d q reference frame is used for the control of the rotor current. This designing approach proposes a model predictive control with a receding horizon technique that uses the frequency decomposition of the reference signal as a filter. Model Predictive Control (MPC) based on Discrete Space Vector Modulation (DSVM) has the advantages of simple mathematical model and fast dynamic response. It is widely used in permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM). Additionally, the control performance of DSVM-MPC is influenced by the accuracy of motor parameters and the select speed of optimal voltage vector. In order to identify motor parameters accurately, model predictive control for PMSM based on discrete space vector modulation with recursive least squares (RLS) parameter identification is proposed in this paper. Additionally, a method to preselect candidate voltage vectors is proposed to select the optimal voltage vector more quickly. The simulation model of RLS-DSVM-MPC is established to simulate the influence of different parameters on PMSM performance.
