Rapid coal mining results in a series of mining subsidence damages. Predicting surface movement and deformation accurately is essential to reducing mining damage. The accurate determination of parameters for a mining subsidence prediction model is crucial for accurately predicting mining subsidence. In this research, with the incorporation of the Sobol sequence and Lévy flight strategy, we propose an improved whale optimization algorithm (IWOA), thereby enhancing its global optimization capability and mitigating local optimization issues. Our simulation experiment results demonstrate that the IWOA achieved a root mean square error and relative error of less than 0.42 and 0.27%, respectively, indicating its superior accuracy compared to a basic algorithm. The IWOA inversion model also exhibits superior performance compared to a basic algorithm in mitigating gross error interference, Gaussian noise interference, and missing observation point interference. Additionally, it demonstrates enhanced global search capabilities. The IWOA was employed to perform parameter inversion for the working face 1414(1) in Guqiao Coal Mine. The root mean square error of the inversion results did not exceed 6.03, while the subsidence coefficient q, tangent of the main influence angle tanβ, horizontal movement coefficient b, and mining influence propagation angle θ were all below 0.32. The average value of the fitted root mean square error for the subsidence value's fitted root mean square error and horizontal movement value's fitted root mean square error of the IWOA was 91.51 mm, which satisfies the accuracy requirements for general engineering applications. Wind energy has achieved a leading position among renewable energies. The global installed capacity in 2022 was 906 GW of power, with a growth of 8.4% compared to the same period in the previous year. The forecast is that the barrier of 1,000,000 MW of installed wind capacity in the world will be exceeded in July 2023, according to data from the World Association of Wind Energy. In order to support the expected growth in the wind sector, maintenance strategies for wind turbines must provide the reliability and availability necessary to achieve these goals. The usual maintenance procedures may present difficulties in keeping up with the expansion of this energy source. The objective of this work was to carry out a systematic review of the literature focused on research on the predictive and prescriptive maintenance of wind turbines based on the implementation of data-oriented models with the use of artificial intelligence tools. The quality of the intermediate point temperature control of a supercritical unit is directly related to the quality of the coal–water ratio and main steam temperature control of the supercritical unit, which is also related to the economy and safety of the unit. In order to improve the accuracy of short-term predictions of the intermediate point temperature, a short-term prediction model of the intermediate point temperature based on the EEMD (Ensemble Empirical Mode Decomposition)-LSTM (Long Short-Term Memory) model is proposed. This model uses the data of a 600 MW thermal power station in 2022 as a sample. The EEMD method is used to decompose the historical data into IMF components and residual components, and the correlation between each component and the original data is calculated. The relevant components are sent to the LSTM neural network, and all the sub-components are superimposed to obtain the final intermediate point temperature prediction results. At the same time, the BP and LSTM models are built to compare the errors with the proposed model. The results show that the single model will produce large errors when predicting the factors of large data fluctuations. The EEMD–LSTM coupling model can fully extract the detailed features and the prediction effect is obvious. The prediction accuracy of the EEMD–LSTM prediction model built in this paper is significantly better than that of the other two models. It has certain application value in the research field of intermediate point temperature prediction and can meet the requirements of short-term predictions of the intermediate point temperature. Sampling and 14C detection of biomass are now essential steps to ensure the accuracy of the 14C method, but they require additional time and economic investment. When there are multiple types of biomass fuels, it is not possible to guarantee the uniformity of sampling. The 14C activity of biomass fuels exhibits variability, and this value significantly impacts the precision of the 14C method. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the influencing factors of 14C activity in biomass fuels. It also provides predicted values of 14C activity for different types of biomass fuels for each year from 2020 to 2030. Additionally, this study discusses the potential blending ratio measurement errors that may arise due to the uncertainties of the predicted values. The reduction in the 14C activity of biomass fuels can occur due to the utilization of fossil fuels, human activities, and the photosynthesis mode of C3 plants. This study presents a prediction method for determining the reduction factor. The other component of the prediction methodology involves determining the original 14C activity of biomass fuels. The 14C activity of the annual biomass is equal to the 14CO2 activity (the 14C activity of CO2) of the surrounding environment, and it experiences a decline of 0.355 pMC/year. The 14C activity has ranges of five types of perennial biomass fuels, including wood chips and branches, bark, leaves, wasted furniture, and abandoned building wood, for the time period between 2020 and 2030, are 97.34~102.84, 96.35~106.27, 96.35~102.64, 111.00~118.60, and 111.32~129.47 pMC, respectively. Based on these, this study introduces a new formula for calculating blending ratios, which enhances the current methodology. The calculation errors of blending ratios caused by the uncertainties of the predicted values are generally negligible, with the exception of wasted furniture and construction wood. The annual decrease in the blending ratio calculation error, caused by the uncertainty associated with the predicted value, can be observed. In the era of burgeoning electric vehicle (EV) popularity, understanding the patterns of EV users' behavior is imperative. This paper examines the trends in household charging sessions' timing, duration, and energy consumption by analyzing real-world residential charging data. By leveraging the information collected from each session, a novel framework is introduced for the efficient, real-time prediction of important charging characteristics. Utilizing historical data and user-specific features, machine learning models are trained to predict the connection duration, charging duration, charging demand, and time until the next session. These models enhance the understanding of EV users' behavior and provide practical tools for optimizing the EV charging infrastructure and effectively managing the charging demand. In this paper, a linear matrix inequality (LMI)-based robust model predictive speed control (RMPSC) with a disturbance observer (DOB) is proposed to guarantee stability and control performance against the parameter uncertainty and disturbance of a permanent magnetic synchronous motor (PMSM). All external torques applied to the PMSM are defined as disturbance, estimated by the DOB, and used to construct the RMPSC method. The proposed DOB and RMPSC are determined by a multiple LMI-based optimization approach. Furthermore, parameter uncertainty within a certain range, due to manufacturing errors or aging deterioration, is considered and a systematic tuning method is proposed to obtain the optimal gains. Finally, an offline optimization method is developed that ensures a low computational load to enable real-time processing. The highway cycle is an important consideration in the EV's new European driving cycles (NEDCs) range, as the steady-state efficiency improvement in such conditions can be greatly beneficial. In the model predictive control (MPC) of the permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs), the predicted next-step feedback reference generated by the equivalent circuit model (ECM) will contribute directly to the voltage vector selection, therefore influencing the performance of the motor control. In the current MPC scheme, when the conventional ECM is applied, it only considers copper loss, and the core loss is usually disregarded. In some circumstances, such as the highway cycle of EVs, the motors are at high speed, the torque is low, and the core loss can be significant in the losses, thus affecting the accuracy of control and the efficiency of the system; hence, the introduction of core loss ECM into the MPC would be beneficial. This paper aims to investigate the steady-state efficiency improvement of a novel ECM of PMSM considering core loss ECM, and the comparison will be based on model predictive direct torque control (MPDTC) using the core loss ECM, which will be compared to MPDTC with the conventional ECM of the PMSM. The results demonstrate the proposed ECM's efficiency improvement in various conditions, the limitations of the model and the simulation are discussed, and future work is proposed. In the quest for sustainable energy solutions, predicting electricity prices for renewable energy sources plays a pivotal role in efficient resource allocation and decision making. In response to global climate change, China has committed to peaking carbon emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060, commonly known as the "30–60 Dual Carbon". Under the background of "30–60 Dual Carbon", this article takes the electric power industry, which is the main industry contributing to China's carbon emission, as the research object, explores the time and peak value of the carbon peak of the electric power industry, and analyzes whether carbon neutrality can be realized under the peak method, so as to get the carbon neutrality path of the electric power industry and serve as the theoretical basis for the formulation of relevant policies. The Environmental Kuznets Curve inspection and the relationship analysis are carried out, then the system dynamics model is constructed, the carbon emissions from 2020 to 2040 are simulated, and the peak time is predicted. Three different scenarios are set to explore the path of electricity carbon neutralization under the premise of a fixed peak. It is shown that Gross Domestic Product per capita index factors have the largest positive contribution, and thermal power share index factors have the largest negative contribution to electricity carbon emissions. Based on the current efforts of the new policy, carbon emissions can achieve the peak carbon emissions' target before 2030, and it is expected to peak in 2029, with a peak range of about 4.95 billion tons. After the power industry peaks in 2029, i.e., Scenario 3, from coal 44%, gas 9% (2029) to coal 15%, gas 7% (2060), where the CCUS technology is widely used, this scenario can achieve carbon neutrality in electricity by 2060. Adjusting the power supply structure, strictly controlling the proportion of thermal power, optimizing the industrial structure, and popularization of carbon capture, utilization, and storage technology will all contribute to the "dual carbon" target of the power sector. High-precision spatial-temporal wind power prediction technology is of great significance for ensuring the safe and stable operation of power grids. The development of artificial intelligence technology provides a new scheme for modeling with strong spatial-temporal correlation. In addition, the existing prediction models are mostly 'black box' models, lacking interpretability, which may lead to a lack of trust in the model by power grid dispatchers. Therefore, improving the model to obtain interpretability has become an important challenge. In this paper, an interpretable short-term wind power prediction model based on ensemble deep graph neural network is designed. Firstly, the graph network model (GNN) with an attention mechanism is applied to the aggregate and the spatial-temporal features of wind power data are extracted, and the interpretable ability is obtained. Then, the long short-term memory (LSTM) method is used to process the extracted features and establish a wind power prediction model. Finally, the random sampling algorithm is used to optimize the hyperparameters to improve the learning rate and performance of the model. Through multiple comparative experiments and a case analysis, the results show that the proposed model has a higher prediction accuracy than other traditional models and obtains reasonable interpretability in time and space dimensions. The intermittent and random nature of wind brings great challenges to the accurate prediction of wind power; a single model is insufficient to meet the requirements of ultra-short-term wind power prediction. Although ensemble empirical mode decomposition (EEMD) can be used to extract the time series features of the original wind power data, the number of its modes will increase with the complexity of the original data. Too many modes are unnecessary, making the prediction model constructed based on the sub-models too complex. An entropy ensemble empirical mode decomposition (eEEMD) method based on information entropy is proposed in this work. Fewer components with significant feature differences are obtained using information entropy to reconstruct sub-sequences. The long short-term memory (LSTM) model is suitable for prediction after the decomposition of time series. All the modes are trained with the same deep learning framework LSTM. In view of the different features of each mode, models should be trained differentially for each mode; a rule is designed to determine the training error of each mode according to its average value. In this way, the model prediction accuracy and efficiency can make better tradeoffs. The predictions of different modes are reconstructed to obtain the final prediction results. The test results from a wind power unit show that the proposed eEEMD-LSTM has higher prediction accuracy compared with single LSTM and EEMD-LSTM, and the results based on Bayesian ridge regression (BR) and support vector regression (SVR) are the same; eEEMD-LSTM exhibits better performance. At present, the new energy industry represented by photovoltaics has become the main force to realize the optimization of China's energy structure and the goal of "double carbon"; with the absence of land resources, the waterborne bifacial photovoltaic has ushered in a new opportunity. Therefore, in order to address the problem that the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) of photovoltaics (PV) could not take into account, the dynamic economic performance in the control process, an economic model predictive control (EMPC), is proposed in this work to realize the MPPT of the waterborne bifacial PV power generation system. Firstly, the model of the bifacial PV module is constructed by combining the ray-tracing irradiance model and considering the effect of water surface albedo on the irradiance absorbed by the module. Secondly, the EMPC controller is designed based on the state-space model of the system to maximize the power generation as the economic performance index, and to solve the optimal input variables time by time to achieve a rolling optimization with the operational requirements of the system itself as the constraints. Thirdly, the MATLAB/Simulink (R2022a) simulation experimental results verify that the EMPC strategy could be utilized to achieve MPPT of the waterborne bifacial PV power generation system, according to the changes of environment. Finally, it is also demonstrated that the bifacial PV power generation system that employed the EMPC strategy outperformed the traditional MPPT algorithm, with respect to both output power tracking velocity and accuracy, and the power generation could be improved by about 6% to 14.5%, which significantly enhances the system's dynamic process economics. Compared to the conventional finite control set model predictive control (FCS-MPC), the double vector model predictive current control (DVMPCC) for permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) has a better steady-state performance without significantly increasing the switching frequency. However, determining optimal vectors with their dwell times requires a high computational burden. A low-complexity DVMPCC in the steady state was proposed in this study to address this problem. Firstly, the operating state of the motor was judged according to the speed error. During steady-state operation, the first optimal active vector was selected from three candidate vectors adjacent or identical to the active vector applied in the previous control period, reducing the number of comparisons by half. Next, the second optimal vector was selected from the other two active vectors, and the zero vector, the second optimal vector with the duty cycle, was determined according to the deadbeat condition of the q-axis current and cost function minimization. Finally, simulation and experimental results proved that the proposed low-complexity DVMPCC for surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motors is practical and feasible. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This paper proposes a novel voltage estimation scheme for the modular multilevel converter (MMC) based on model predictive control (MPC). The developed strategy is presented by combining a disturbance observer (DOB) with an adaptive neural network (ANN) for voltage estimation in the MMC. Firstly, the ac-side and dc bus voltages are estimated as the disturbance items of the DOB which acts as the cost function during each control cycle and ensures the minimal computational cost. Then, the submodule (SM) capacitor voltage estimation is achieved based on the ANN with the estimated ac-side and dc bus voltages. The proposed method requires only one current sensor per arm and has a simple structure with three weights to be adjusted. Comprehensive simulation studies and experiments are presented to demonstrate its effectiveness and feasibility. In response to the volatility of photovoltaic power generation, this paper proposes a short-term photovoltaic power generation prediction model (HWOA-MVMD-TPA-TCN) based on a Hybrid Whale Optimization Algorithm (HWOA), multivariate variational mode decomposition (MVMD), temporal pattern attention mechanism (TPA), and temporal convolutional network (TCN). In order to improve the accuracy of photovoltaic power generation forecasting, HWOA-MVMD is used for data decomposition, the Minimum Mode Overlap Component (MMOC) is used as the objective function, the photovoltaic power generation sequence is decomposed into finite Intrinsic Mode Functions (IMFs) according to the optimal solution, and the training set is formed with key meteorological variable data such as total radiation (unit: W/m2), ambient temperature, and humidity. Then, the TPA-TCN model is used to train the sub-sequences, the final predicted values are obtained after superimposing the reconstruction of the prediction results, and finally the prediction error of the photovoltaic power generation data is studied. The proposed method is applied to real photovoltaic power generation data from a commercial center in Tianjin and is compared with HWOA-MVMD-BiLSTM, GWO-MVMD-TPA-TCN, and TPA-TCN prediction models. The simulation results demonstrate that the MAE value of the forecast method proposed in this paper is 1.95 MW and the RMSE value is 2.55 MW, which can be reduced by up to 33.74% and 38.85%, respectively. The HWOA-MVMD-TPA-TCN-based short-term photovoltaic power generation prediction model presented in this paper achieves higher prediction accuracy and superior performance, serving as a valuable reference for related research. Faults in wind turbine rotating components contribute significantly to malfunctions and downtime. A prevalent strategy to reduce the Cost of Energy (CoE) in wind energy production focuses on minimizing maintenance expenses associated with these turbine components. An accurate Remaining Useful Life (RUL) diagnosis of these components is crucial for maintenance planning, ensuring uninterrupted energy quality and cost-efficiency. This paper introduces a refined method for RUL prediction of wind turbine rotating components using a Health Index (HI) derived from vibration signals. Performing HI construction by extracting all features from the vibration signal and selecting the best features to build HIs using on Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and some abnormal areas that deviate from the bearing damage trend can be eliminated. After constructing a HI use the similarity model and degradation models to predict RUL. Research results show that this degradation method can provide a reliable means to predict the RUL of wind turbine rotating components based on vibration signals. More importantly, predicting RUL in this way can significantly reduce operating and maintenance costs by providing wind turbine rotating operators with sufficient advance notice to plan repairs or replacements before any component failure occurs. This work studies the DC-DC conversion stage in solid-state transformers (SST). The traditional two- or three-level dual active bridge (DAB) topology faces limitations in microgrid interconnection due to power and voltage limitations. For this reason, the use of multilevel topologies such as active neutral point clamped (ANPC) is a promising alternative. Additionally, the efficiency of the SSTs is a recurring concern, and reducing losses in the DC-DC stage is a subject to be studied. In this context, this work presents a new control technique based on an adaptive model- based predictive control (AMPC) to select the modulation technique of an ANPC-DAB DC-DC converter aimed at reducing losses and increasing efficiency. The single-phase shift (SPS), triangular, and trapezoidal modulation techniques are used according to the converter output power with the aim of maximizing the number of soft-switching points per cycle. The performance of the proposed control technique is demonstrated through real-time simulation and a reduced-scale experimental setup. The findings indicate the effectiveness of the AMPC control technique in mitigating voltage source perturbations. This technique has low output impedance and is robust to converter parameter variations. Prototyping tests revealed that, in steady-state, the AMPC significantly improves converter efficiency without compromising dynamic performance. Despite its advantages, the computational cost of AMPC is not significantly higher than that of traditional model predictive control (MPC), allowing for the allocation of time to other applications. With the popularity of deep learning (DL), more and more studies are focusing on replacing time-consuming numerical simulations with efficient surrogate models to predict the production of multi-stage fractured horizontal wells. Previous studies on constructing surrogate models for the prediction of the production of fractured horizontal wells often relied on directly applying existing deep learning architectures without incorporating physical constraints into the model. When dealing with the large number of variables necessary for characterizing the properties of fractures, the input variables of proxy models are often oversimplified; meanwhile, lots of physical information is lost. Consequently, predictions are sometimes physically inconsistent with the underlying principles of the domain. In this study, by modifying the traditional Seq2Seq (LSTM–LSTM) deep learning architecture, a physics-informed encoder–decoder (PIED) architecture was developed to surrogate the numerical simulation codes for predicting the production of horizontal wells with unequal-length intersecting hydraulic fractures on a 2D plane. The encoder is a LSTM network, and the decoder consists of LSTM and fully connected layers. The attention algorithm is also applied in the Seq2Seq architecture. The PIED model's encoder is capable of extracting the physical information related to fractures. And the attention module effectively passes on the most relevant physical information related to production to the decoder during the training process. By modifying Seq2Seq architecture, the decoder of the PIED incorporates the intermediate input, which is the constant production time, along with the extracted physical information to predict production values. The PIED model excels in extracting sufficient physical information from high-dimensional inputs while ensuring the integrity of the production time information. By considering the physical constraints, the model predicts production values with improved accuracy and generalization capabilities. In addition, a multi-layer perceptron (MLP) which is broadly used as a proxy model; a regular Seq2Seq model (LSTM–Attention–LSTM); and the PIED were compared via a case study, and their MAE values were shown to be 241.76, 184.07, 168.81, respectively. Therefore, the proposed model has higher accuracy and better generalization ability. In the case study, a comparative experiment was conducted by comparing LSTM–MLP (with an MAE of 221.50) and LSTM–LSTM to demonstrate that using LSTM as the decoder structure is better for predicting production series. Moreover, in the task of predicting production sequences, LSTM outperforms MLP. The Seq2Seq architecture demonstrated excellent performance in this problem, and it achieved a 48.4% reduction in MSE compared to MLP. Meanwhile, the time cost for build datasets was considered, and the proposed model was found to be capable of training in a small dataset (e.g., in the case study, 3 days were used to generate 450 samples for training.); thus, the proposed model has a certain degree of practicality. This work presents an integrated multiphase flow model for downhole pressure predictions with the purpose of producing relatively more accurate predictions under wide-flowing conditions while maintaining a simple form. As a component of the integrated model, an improved two-fluid model for segregated flow is proposed. The new two-fluid model was developed by improving the modeling of the wetted perimeters and the liquid wall shear stress. It outperformed five other existing state-of-the-art models in predicting the liquid holdup and pressure gradient of 11 experimental datasets from the literature, with an average relative error of 37.6% for liquid holdup predictions and 24.0% for pressure gradient predictions. The model succeeds in capturing the effects of inclination angle, pressure or gas density, and liquid and gas superficial velocities on liquid holdup and pressure gradient. The integrated model incorporates the state-of-the-art onset of liquid loading predictive model and classifies the flow into two major categories based on the onset of liquid loading that are modeled by two different approaches, respectively. It outperformed the other multiphase flow models in predicting the downhole pressure of 313 field data points, especially the wells that have both segregated and intermittent (mixed) flows. This study aims to identify an equation for predicting the calorific value for heat-treated biomass using structural analysis. Different models were constructed using 129 samples of cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin, and calorific values obtained from previous studies. These models were validated using 41 additional datasets, and an optimal model was identified using its results and following performance metrics: the coefficient of determination (R2), mean absolute error (MAE), root-mean-squared error (RMSE), average absolute error (AAE), and average bias error (ABE). Finally, the model was verified using 25 additional data points. For the overall dataset, R2 was ~0.52, and the RMSE range was 1.46–1.77. For woody biomass, the R2 range was 0.78–0.83, and the RMSE range was 0.9626–1.2810. For herbaceous biomass, the R2 range was 0.5251–0.6001, and the RMSE range was 1.1822–1.3957. The validation results showed similar or slightly poorer performances. The optimal model was then tested using the test data. For overall biomass and woody biomass, the performance metrics of the obtained model were superior to those in previous studies, whereas for herbaceous biomass, lower performance metrics were observed. In recent years, with the rapid growth in the number of electric vehicles (EVs), the large-scale grid connection of EVs has had a profound impact on the power grid. As a flexible energy storage resource, EVs can participate in auxiliary services of the power grid via vehicle-to-grid (V2G) technology. Due to the uncertainty of EVs accessing the grid, it is difficult to accurately control their charging and charging behaviors at both the day-ahead and real-time stages. Aiming at this problem, this paper proposes a two-stage scheduling strategy framework for EVs. In the presented framework, according to historical driving data, a day-ahead scheduling model based on distributionally robust optimization (DRO) is first established to determine the total power plan. In the real-time scheduling stage, a real-time scheduling model based on model predictive control (MPC) is established to track the day-ahead power plan. It can reduce the impact of EVs' uncertainties. In alcohol-containing systems, the association of polar molecules significantly influences the calculation of water activity, leading to substantial deviations from ideal solution behavior. This makes it challenging for traditional hydrate formation condition models to accurately predict hydrate formation temperatures and pressures. To address this issue, we propose a novel unified thermodynamic framework based on the Parrish-Prausnitz (P-P) model and the Cubic-Plus-Association (CPA) equation of state (EoS) for calculating the hydrate formation condition in systems containing gas/water/alcohol, by using the advantages of the CPA EoS to characterize the association interaction of polar molecules. In addition, we utilize experimental data to model the molecular association in alcohol-containing systems and conduct regression analysis for binary interaction coefficients among alcohol, water, and gas. Multiple sets of experimental data on component fractions and hydrate formation conditions for methane-alcohol-water systems are used for validation. The proposed model shows an average relative error of 1.17–6.42% for predicting alcohol/methane component fractions in the liquid phase and 1.93–4.78% for predicting hydrate formation conditions in alcohol-containing systems. Compared to traditional models, this model demonstrates a significant improvement in accuracy and performs well in predicting hydrate formation conditions in alcohol-containing systems. Inverse Uncertainty Quantification (IUQ) has gained increasing attention in the field of nuclear engineering, especially nuclear thermal-hydraulics (TH), where it serves as an important tool for quantifying the uncertainties in the physical model parameters (PMPs) while making the model predictions consistent with the experimental data. In this paper, we present an extension to an existing Bayesian inference-based IUQ methodology by employing a hierarchical Bayesian model and variational inference (VI), and apply this novel framework to a real-world nuclear TH scenario. The proposed approach leverages a hierarchical model to encapsulate group-level behaviors inherent to the PMPs, thereby mitigating existing challenges posed by the high variability of PMPs under diverse experimental conditions and the potential overfitting issues due to unknown model discrepancies or outliers. To accommodate computational scalability and efficiency, we utilize VI to enable the framework to be used in applications with a large number of variables or datasets. The efficacy of the proposed method is evaluated against a previous study where a No-U-Turn-Sampler was used in a Bayesian hierarchical model. We illustrate the performance comparisons of the proposed framework through a synthetic data example and an applied case in nuclear TH. Our findings reveal that the presented approach not only delivers accurate and efficient IUQ without the need for manual tuning, but also offers a promising way for scaling to larger, more complex nuclear TH experimental datasets. Furan tests provide a non-intrusive and cost-effective method of estimating the degradation of paper insulation, which is critical for ensuring the reliability of power grids. However, conducting routine furan tests can be expensive and challenging, highlighting the need for alternative methods, such as machine learning algorithms, to predict furan concentrations. To establish the generalizability and robustness of the furan prediction model, this study investigates two distinct datasets from different geographical locations, Utility A and Utility B. Three scenarios are proposed: in the first scenario, a round-robin cross-validation method was used, with 75% of the data for training and the remaining 25% for testing. The second scenario involved training the model entirely on Utility A and testing it on Utility B. In the third scenario, the datasets were merged, and round-robin cross-validation was applied, similar to the first scenario. The findings reveal the effectiveness of machine learning algorithms in predicting furan concentrations, and particularly the stacked generalized ensemble method, offering a non-intrusive and cost-effective alternative to traditional testing methods. Wave energy has emerged as a focal point in marine renewable energy research. Accurate prediction of wave power plays a pivotal role in enhancing power supply reliability. This paper introduces an innovative wave power prediction method that combines seasonal–trend decomposition using LOESS (STL) with a dual-channel Seq2Seq model. The decomposition model addresses the issue of component redundancy in current input decomposition methods, thereby uncovering key components. The prediction model improves upon the limitations of current prediction models that directly concatenate multiple features, allowing for a more detailed consideration of both trend and periodic features. The proposed approach begins by decomposing the power sequence based on tidal periods and optimal correlation criteria, effectively extracting both trend and periodic features. Subsequently, a dual-channel Seq2Seq model is constructed. The first channel employs temporal pattern attention to capture the trend and stochastic fluctuation information, while the second channel utilizes multi-head self-attention to further enhance the extraction of periodic components. Model validation is performed using data from two ocean buoys, each with a five-year dataset. The proposed model achieves an average 2.45% reduction in RMSE compared to the state-of-the-art method. The Dual–Vector model predictive control (DV–MPC) method can improve the steady–state control performance of motor drives compared to using the single–vector method in one switching cycle. However, this performance enhancement generally increases the computational burden due to the exponential increase in the number of vector selections, lowering the system's dynamic response. Alternatively, limiting the vector combinations will sacrifice system steady–state performance. To address this issue, this paper proposes an enhanced DV–MPC method that can determine the optimal vector combinations along with their duration time within minimized calculation times. Compared to the existing DV–MPC methods, the proposed enhanced technique can achieve excellent steady–state performance while maintaining a low computational burden. In this paper, a new modified model predictive control is proposed to improve the performance of the model predictive control for two-level voltage source inverters by alleviating computational burden and the disadvantages associated with the conventional model predictive control strategy. The objective of the proposed method is to reduce the number of candidate voltage vectors in each sector, thereby improving the overall performance of the control system, as well as achieving common-mode voltage reduction for two-level voltage source inverters. Two strategies are introduced to achieve this objective. Firstly, an algorithm is developed based on statistical computational processes to pre-define the candidate voltage vectors. This strategy involves ranking and considering the most frequently used voltage vectors. Consequently, by reducing the computational burden, the search space for the optimal voltage vectors is reduced. Furthermore, based on statistical results, a strategy is proposed to divide the sectors into three sectors instead of the six sectors in the conventional method. This approach effectively reduces the number of candidate voltage vectors. The modified model predictive control strategy aims to improve the efficiency of the control system by reducing the computational burden, and suppressing the common-mode voltage. The simulation and experiments are carried out to verify the effectiveness of the proposed strategy under various operational conditions. The results demonstrate that the modified model predictive control approach significantly reduces the computational burden and complexity of the control system while effectively suppressing the common-mode voltage; this contributes to improving the performance of two-level voltage source inverters and enhancing their applicability for connecting the renewable energies to the grid. Renewable energy sources are being expanded globally in response to global warming. Solar power generation is closely related to solar radiation and typically experiences significant fluctuations in solar radiation hours during periods of high solar radiation, leading to substantial inaccuracies in power generation predictions. In this paper, we suggest a solar power generation prediction method aimed at minimizing prediction errors during solar time. The proposed method comprises two stages. The first stage is the construction of the Solar Base Model by extracting characteristics from input variables. In the second stage, the prediction error period is detected using the Solar Change Point, which measures the difference between the predicted output from the Solar Base Model and the actual power generation. Subsequently, the probability of a weather forecast state change within the error occurrence period is calculated, and this information is used to update the power generation forecast value. The performance evaluation was restricted to July and August. The average improvement rate in predicted power generation was 24.5%. The next stage of development of the tidal stream industry will see a focus on the deployment of tidal turbines in arrays of increasing device numbers and rated power. Successful array development requires a thorough understanding of the resource within potential deployment sites. This is predictable in terms of flow speeds, based upon tidal constituents. However, the operating environment for the turbine is more complex than the turbine experiencing a uniform flow, with turbulence, shear and wave conditions all affecting the loading on the turbine components. This study establishes the accuracy with which several alternative modelling tools predict the resource characteristics which define unsteady loading—velocity shear, turbulence and waves—and assesses the impact of the model choice on predicted damage equivalent loads. In addition, the predictions of turbulence are compared to a higher fidelity model and the occurrence of flow speeds to a Delft3D model for currents and waves. These models have been run for a specific tidal site, the Raz Blanchard, one of the major tidal stream sites in European waters. The measured resource and predicted loading are established using data collected in a recent deployment of acoustic Doppler current profilers (ADCPs) as part of the Interreg TIGER project. The conditions are measured at three locations across the site, with transverse spacing of 145.7 m and 59.3 m between each device. Turbine fatigue loading is assessed using measurements and model predictions based on an unsteady blade element momentum model applied to near-surface and near-bed deployment positions. As well as across-site spatial variation of loading, the through life loading over a 5-year period results in an 8% difference to measured loads for a near-surface turbine, using conditions purely defined from a resource model and to within 3% when using a combination of modelled shear with measured turbulence characteristics. Faced with environmental issues and depleting oil reserves, engine research is venturing into novel paths, such as the dual-fuel engine. This has motivated the development of numerical models that provide highly accurate predictive tools. In this context, 0D/quasi-D modeling is necessary, with a compromise between control of computation time and acceptable prediction level, which will certainly enable the various studies on the dual fuel mode to be explored at reduced cost. The aim of the present study is to develop a combustion model adapted to the hydrogen-natural gas (HNG)/diesel dual fuel engine to ensure 0D/1D simulations over a wide load range and under different gas mixture compositions. This model is based on the separation of the different types of combustion in this mode, by first treating the combustion of the pilot fuel by jet modeling, then the combustion of the gas mixture (HNG) by a mathematical model based on the Gaussian function. This phase separation is carefully combined with a mathematical treatment of the heat release rate, in order to determine ignition delays for both phases and model each of them separately. The modeling approach unveiled in this work is based on a phenomenological aspect, where the distinction between pilot and primary fuel combustion is ensured with phase separation allowing precise monitoring of the combustion sequence with the detection of the start and end of each phase and the contribution of each to the overall heat release rate. The results confirm the predictive power of the model developed with a maximum error of around 2%. Thermal heat storage is becoming important in systems with renewable energy sources. Their largest benefit is smoothing the intermittent production and reduction in the site peak demand. The advantages of thermal energy storage with phase-change material are storing energy at a lower temperature for reduction in thermal losses, and enabling energy transfer at a constant temperature, which reduces the risk of equipment damage. In this paper, a low-order model of latent thermal energy storage, derived in a state-space form by using the mixed logical dynamical approach, is proposed. The model is compared to a stratified model and shows significant improvements of physical accuracy and execution time. Finally, a model predictive control algorithm suited for the real case study is designed, implemented and compared to classical rule-based control. To remove parameter dependence in existing sensorless control strategies, a parameter-free model predictive current control is proposed for permanent magnet synchronous motor without any position sensor. First, the current variation during one sampling period is analyzed and divided into two elements: natural attenuation and forced response. Second, recursive least squares algorithm is utilized to estimate the future current variation so that the model predictive current control can be successfully executed paying no attention to motor parameters. Meanwhile, the position information is obtained by the arc tangent function according to the estimated forced response of current variation. At last, experimental results verify that the estimation errors of rotor position are reduced to around 0.1 rad with smaller current prediction error even at low speed where no motor parameters are required. The worldwide appeal has increased for the development of new technologies that allow the use of green energy. In this category, photovoltaic energy (PV) stands out, especially with regard to the presentation of forecasting methods of solar irradiance or solar power from photovoltaic generators. The development of battery energy storage systems (BESSs) has been investigated to overcome difficulties in electric grid operation, such as using energy in the peaks of load or economic dispatch. These technologies are often applied in the sense that solar irradiance is used to charge the battery. We present a review of solar forecasting methods used together with a PV-BESS. Despite the hundreds of papers investigating solar irradiation forecasting, only a few present discussions on its use on the PV-BESS set. Therefore, we evaluated 49 papers from scientific databases published over the last six years. We performed a quantitative analysis and reported important aspects found in the papers, such as the error metrics addressed, granularity, and where the data are obtained from. We also describe applications of the BESS, present a critical analysis of the current perspectives, and point out promising future research directions on forecasting approaches in conjunction with PV-BESS. With the increasing depth of metal mining, thermal damage has become a serious problem that restricts mining. The thermal management system of refrigeration and ventilation is an indispensable technology in the mining of deep metal mines, which plays a key role in improving the thermal and humid environment of mines. Optimizing the performance of refrigeration and ventilation systems to reduce energy consumption has become a focus of researchers' attention. Based on the heat current method, this research establishes the overall heat transfer and flow constraint model of the refrigeration and ventilation system, and proposes an iterative algorithm that combines the refrigerator energy consumption model and the artificial neural network model of heat exchangers. The Lagrange multiplier method is used to optimize the system with the goal of minimizing the total power consumption of the system. The results show that under 9.1 kW cooling load conditions, the total energy consumption of the system reduces by 16.5%, and the COP of the refrigerator increases by 11.6%. Traditional machine learning prediction methods usually only predict input parameters through a single model, so the problem of low prediction accuracy is common. Different predictive models extract different information for input, and combining different predictive models can make as much use as possible of all the information contained in the inputs. Therefore, this paper improves the existing oil temperature prediction method of offshore wind turbine gearboxes, and for the actual prediction effect of Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) data in this paper, Bayesian-optimized Light Gradient Boosting Machine (LightGBM) and eXtreme Gradient Boosting(XGBoost) machine learning models are selected to be combined. This paper proposes a battery state of charge (SOC)-based energy management strategy using hierarchical distributed model predictive control (HDMPC) for a standalone microgrid on solar-powered long-endurance aircraft. The microgrid was innovatively designed as a two-layer structure in which the first layer consists of a photovoltaic generation and battery storage system named the PV battery module (PBM). The second layer, named the microgrid subsystem (MGSS), consists of several PBMs, each of which supplies power to a specific DC load on the aircraft. The control system is divided into two levels: the grid-level model predictive control (MPC) and the converter-level MPC. The grid-level MPC adopts a distributed model predictive control strategy to obtain the reference power of each module. The converter-level MPC calculates the control variables of converters using a supervisory model predictive control (SMPC) strategy. The leakage of the injection–production string is one of the important hidden dangers for the safe and efficient operation of underground salt cavern gas storage. Although distributed fiber optic temperature measurement system (DTS) can accurately locate the position of the string leakage port, how to establish the quantitative relationship between the temperature difference and leakage rate of the leakage port still needs further exploration. This paper proposes a new quantitative prediction model based on a DTS for the leakage monitoring of the injection–production string of salt cavern gas storage. The model takes into account the gas's physical parameters, unstable temperature conditions, and the Joule–Thomson effect. In order to verify the accuracy of the model, a simulation experiment of string leakage based on a DTS was carried out. The test results show that the relative deviation between the predicted leakage rate and the measured value is less than 5% compared with the calculated value. When the leakage rate drops to 0.16 m3/h and the temperature range is less than 0.5 °C, it is difficult to accurately monitor the DTS. Low-resistivity shales are widely developed in the Sichuan Basin. The production of low-resistivity shale gas reservoirs ranges from high to low to none. The existing methods for gas-content prediction cannot accurately predict the gas content of low-resistivity shale. This increases the risk of shale-gas exploration. To prove that the random forest algorithm has apparent advantages in predicting the gas content of low-resistivity shale and reducing the risks associated with shale-gas exploration and development, three prediction methods were selected in this paper to compare their effects. The first method is known as the grey-correlation multiple linear regression method. Low-resistivity shale-gas content logging series were optimized using the grey-correlation approach, and then the low-resistivity shale-gas-content prediction model was established using the multiple linear regression method. The second method we selected was the resistivity method. The improved water-saturation model was used to predict the water saturation of low-resistivity shale, and then the gas content of low-resistivity shale was predicted based on the free-gas content and the adsorbed-gas-content model. The random forest algorithm was the third method we selected. Fourteen logging series were used as input data and the measured gas content was used as supervised data to train the model and to apply the trained model to the gas-content prediction. The findings demonstrated that the grey-correlation multiple regression method had poor accuracy in predicting gas content in low-resistivity shale; The resistivity method accurately predicted water saturation, and the predicted gas content was higher than the actual gas content. Because the random forest algorithm accurately predicted low-resistivity shale-gas content, its use in the Sichuan Basin was advantageous. Fuel-saving-oriented collaborative driving is a highly promising yet challenging endeavor that requires satisfying the driver's operational intentions while surpassing the driver's fuel-saving performance. In light of this challenge, the paper introduces an innovative collaborative driving strategy tailored to the objective of fuel conservation in the context of commercial vehicles. An enhancement to this strategy involves the development of a network prediction model for vehicle speed, leveraging insights from driver style recognition. Employing the predicted speed as a reference, a model-predictive-control-based optimal controller is designed to track the reference while optimizing fuel consumption. Furthermore, a straightforward yet effective collaborative rule is proposed to ensure alignment with the driver's intention. Subsequently, the proposed control scheme is validated through simulation and real-world driving data, revealing that the human–machine cooperative driving controller saves 4% more fuel than human drivers. One of the main applications of carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technology in the industry is carbon-dioxide-enhanced oil recovery (CO2-EOR). However, accurately and rapidly assessing their application potential remains a major challenge. In this study, a numerical model of the CO2-WAG technique was developed using the reservoir numerical simulation software CMG (Version 2021), which is widely used in the field of reservoir engineering. Then, 10,000 different reservoir models were randomly generated using the Monte Carlo method for numerical simulations, with each having different formation physical parameters, fluid parameters, initial conditions, and injection and production parameters. Among them, 70% were used as the training set and 30% as the test set. A comprehensive analysis was conducted using eight different machine learning regression methods to train and evaluate the dataset. After evaluation, the XGBoost algorithm emerged as the top-performing method and was selected as the optimal approach for the prediction and optimization. By integrating the production prediction model with a particle swarm optimizer (PSO), a workflow for optimizing the CO2-EOR parameters was developed. This process enables the rapid optimization of the CO2-EOR parameters and the prediction of the production for each period based on cumulative production under different geological conditions. As the amount of distributed energy storage (DES) in a power system continues to increase, it will not be long before there are multiple DES aggregators participating in frequency regulation, and the realization of their coordinated control is a critical topic of current research. This study focused on the primary frequency regulation (PFR) power allocation strategy among multiple DES aggregators participating in PFR. This study first calculated the PFR demand according to a system frequency response model of the power system with DESs. Next, a PFR power allocation model of DES aggregators was developed based on model predictive control. The objective of this model was to minimize the overall frequency regulation cost while satisfying all of the constraints of DESs. Finally, the distributed interior point method was used to solve the model rapidly. The correctness and effectiveness of the proposed model and algorithm were verified on two unified transmission and distribution systems with DES aggregators used to supply the PFR service. The results revealed that the proposed model could effectively allocate PFR power to the various types of energy storage, with the additional benefits of slowing down the shift in the state of charge for energy storage units and ensuring the continuity of energy storage participation in frequency regulation. Ground heat accumulation caused by imbalanced heating and cooling loads in a building can cause the heat-source temperature to increase as the operating age of a geothermal heat pump (GHP) system increases. An alternative system to improve upon this situation is the hybrid GHP system. This study reviews existing research on GHP systems and hybrid GHP systems, variable water flow (VWF) control, and coefficient of performance (COP) prediction. Generally, constant flow control is applied to the circulating pump to provide a flow rate according to the maximum load. The need for VWF control was identified because the hybrid GHP system is used mainly as a heating and cooling heat source system for partial loads rather than the entire building load. Previous studies on predicting the COPs of GHP systems developed prediction models by selecting input values based on mathematical models, collecting data through multiple measurement points, and utilizing data from production environments. Accurately predicting the remaining lifespan of lithium-ion batteries is critical for the efficient and safe use of these devices. Predicting a lithium-ion battery's remaining lifespan is challenging due to the non-linear changes in capacity that occur throughout the battery's life. This study proposes a fused prediction model that employs a multimodal decomposition approach to address the problem of non-linear fluctuations during the degradation process of lithium-ion batteries. Specifically, the capacity attenuation signal is decomposed into multiple mode functions using successive variational mode decomposition (SVMD), which captures capacity fluctuations and a primary attenuation mode function to account for the degradation of lithium-ion batteries. The hyperparameters of the long short-term memory network (LSTM) are optimized using the tuna swarm optimization (TSO) technique. Subsequently, the trained prediction model is used to forecast various mode functions, which are then successfully integrated to obtain the capacity prediction result. The predictions show that the maximum percentage error for the projected results of five unique lithium-ion batteries, each with varying capacities and discharge rates, did not exceed 1%. In recent years, microgrid (MG) deployment has significantly increased, utilizing various technologies. MGs are essential for integrating distributed generation into electric power systems. These systems' economic dispatch (ED) aims to minimize generation costs within a specific time interval while meeting power generation constraints. By employing ED in electric MGs, the utilization of distributed energy resources becomes more flexible, enhancing energy system efficiency. Additionally, it enables the anticipation and proper utilization of operational limitations and encourages the active involvement of prosumers in the electricity market. However, implementing controllers and algorithms for optimizing ED requires the independent handling of constraints. Numerous algorithms and solutions have been proposed for the ED of MGs. These contributions suggest utilizing techniques such as particle swarm optimization (PSO), mixed-integer linear programming (MILP), CPLEX, and MATLAB. Previous work comparing power take-off (PTO) architectures for ocean wave-powered reverse osmosis suggests that variable displacement in the wave energy converter (WEC)-driven pump does not offer a significant performance advantage. A limitation of that study is that the WEC was subject to a constant load within a given sea state ("Coulomb damping") and did not account for controlled, moment-to-moment variation of the PTO load enabled by a variable displacement pump. This study explores the potential performance advantage of a variable PTO load over Coulomb damping. Model predictive control is used to provide optimal load control with constraints on the PTO load. The constraints include minimum and maximum loads and a limit on the rate of load adjustment. Parameter studies on these constraints enable conclusions about PTO design requirements in addition to providing an estimated performance advantage over Coulomb damping. Numerical simulation of the Oyster 1 WEC is carried out with performance weighted by historical sea state data from Humboldt Bay, CA. The results show a performance advantage of up to 20% higher yearly-average power absorption over Coulomb damping. Additionally, the parameter studies suggest that the PTO load should be adjustable down to at least 25% of the maximum load and should be adjustable between the minimum and maximum loads within a few seconds. Accurately predicting power load is a pressing concern that requires immediate attention. Short-term load prediction plays a crucial role in ensuring the secure operation and analysis of power systems. However, existing research studies have limited capability in extracting the mutual relationships of multivariate features in multivariate time series data. To address these limitations, we propose a multi-dimensional time series forecasting framework called TS2ARCformer. The TS2ARCformer framework incorporates the TS2Vec layer for contextual encoding and utilizes the Transformer model for prediction. This combination effectively captures the multi-dimensional features of the data. Additionally, TS2ARCformer introduces a Cross-Dimensional-Self-Attention module, which leverages interactions across channels and temporal dimensions to enhance the extraction of multivariate features. Furthermore, TS2ARCformer leverage a traditional autoregressive component to overcome the issue of deep learning models being insensitive to input scale. This also enhances the model's ability to extract linear features. Experimental results on two publicly available power load datasets demonstrate significant improvements in prediction accuracy compared to baseline models, with reductions of 43.2% and 37.8% in the aspect of mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) for dataset area1 and area2, respectively. Modular multilevel converters (MMCs) are widely used in voltage-sourced, converter-based high-voltage DC systems due to their modular design, scalability, and fault tolerance capabilities. In MMCs, multi-variable control objectives can be employed by using model predictive control (MPC) due to its fast dynamic response and ease of implementation. Nonetheless, conventional MPC techniques for MMCs have shortcomings, including high computational requirements, poor circulating current, and capacitor voltage fluctuation suppression. First, this study proposes an adaptive MPC technique that adapts the number of candidate combinations to the steady and transient states, significantly reducing the computational burden. Second, an improved hybrid combination of an MPC with a proportional-resonance (PR) controller enhances the circulating current and capacitor voltage fluctuation suppression performance. According to the phase difference between the circulating current and the capacitor voltage, the circulating current and capacitor voltage can be suppressed at different times by changing the circulating current reference of the PR controller. The switching frequency can be reduced by using the PR controller's output to adjust the input submodule number instead of changing the duty cycle. Prediction of the rate of penetration (ROP) is integral to drilling optimization. Many scholars have established intelligent prediction models of the ROP. However, these models face challenges in adapting to different formation properties across well sections or regions, limiting their applicability. In this paper, we explore a novel prediction framework combining feature construction and incremental updating. The framework fine-tunes the model using a pre-trained ROP representation. Our method adopts genetic programming to construct interpretable features, which fuse bit properties with engineering and hydraulic parameters. The model is incrementally updated with constant data streams, enabling it to learn the static and dynamic data. We conduct ablation experiments to analyze the impact of interpretable features' construction and incremental updating. The results on field drilling datasets demonstrate that the proposed model achieves robustness against forgetting while maintaining high accuracy in ROP prediction. The model effectively extracts information from data streams and constructs interpretable representational features, which influence the current ROP, with a mean absolute percentage error of 7.5% on the new dataset, 40% lower than the static-trained model. In response to the model predictive control (MPC) driving system, this paper proposes a multi-adjustment strategy for phase current reconstruction based on a coupled current sampling method. The proposed coupled current sampling method eliminates the need to modify the inverter's internal wiring. The current signals utilized in the proposed method are all external current signals from the inverter and do not involve any current signals from the internal circuitry of the inverter. By analyzing the current sampling mechanism of duty-cycle model predictive control (DC-MPC) as a modulation method, the underlying principles of the non-reconstructible current regions in the coupled current sampling method are revealed. The non-reconstructible regions are accurately delineated into low and high-modulation regions using coupled current sampling. A multi-adjustment strategy for phase current reconstruction is proposed to address the non-reconstructible regions. In the low-modulation regions, phase current reconstruction is achieved through compensated voltage vector pulse injection. In the high-modulation regions, phase current reconstruction is accomplished using the zero-voltage vector insertion approximation method, which maintains the symmetry of the PWM waveform and avoids current distortion. Dual-active bridge (DAB) converters are receiving increasing attention from researchers as a critical part of the power transmission of energy routers. However, the DAB converter generates a large backflow power in conventional control mode, and when the load is mutated, its output voltage takes longer to return to the reference value accompanied by large fluctuations. To solve the above problems, a hybrid strategy is proposed in this paper to optimize the converter. The mathematical models of the transmitted power and the backflow power were firstly derived through in-depth analysis of the DAB converter under extended-phase-shift (EPS) modulation, and the suppression of the backflow power was performed according to the improved Lagrange method utilized in the obtained results. Moreover, considering the poor dynamic characteristics of DAB converters under PI control, according to the state space average model of output voltage in the paper, a model prediction control equation is established to improve the dynamic response of the converter by predicting the output voltage value at the next moment.
