The Fusion Center is a new concept of intelligence activity that brings together people and organizations in order to enhance the use of information to combat terrorism and organized crime. The research aimed to analyze whether these Centers represent a real change for issues of obtaining and processing data from multiple sources of information, as well as for improving the flow of sensitive information within the government. A case study was conducted, exploring extensive documentary and bibliographic material related to the network of Fusion Centers in the USA. As a theoretical and methodological contribution, the information regime was the analytical key, assisting in the task of understanding the ecosystem studied, from the perspective of Information Science. The study revealed the informational regime of the Fusion Centers, describing: the social actors; technological artifacts; the technological apparatus of information and the informational flow. It was possible to conclude that the Centers represent an innovation to achieve the real fusion of information, based on the use of technology combined with information sharing across relevant actors. The latter was made possible by the institutionalization of collection and sharing based on a collaborative redesign. In addition, a political change, emphasizing the perspective of intelligence information as an asset of society, to the detriment of the ownership assumed by organizations, individually, for the purpose of consolidating space and power. This set of changes presented itself as a concrete way to reduce human and organizational barriers to the flow of sensitive information., O Centro de Fusão é um novo conceito da atividade de inteligência que congrega pessoas e organizações com fins de potencializar o uso da informação para combater o terrorismo e o crime organizado. A pesquisa teve por objetivo analisar se estes Centros representam uma real mudança na obtenção e tratamento dos dados oriundos de múltiplas fontes de informação, bem como para o aperfeiçoamento do fluxo da informação sensível no âmbito do Estado. Foi realizado um estudo de caso explorando vasto material documental e bibliográfico referente à Rede de Centros de Fusão dos Estados Unidos da América. Como aporte teórico-metodológico, o Regime de Informação foi a chave analítica, auxiliando na tarefa de compreender o ecossistema estudado, a partir do olhar da Ciência da Informação. O trabalho revelou o regime informacional dos Centros de Fusão, descrevendo: os atores sociais; os dispositivos; o aparato tecnológico da informação e o fluxo informacional. Foi possível concluir que os Centros representam uma inovação para se alcançar a real fusão da informação, baseando-se no uso da tecnologia aliada ao compartilhamento da informação entre atores relevantes. Esta última, viabilizada com a institucionalização da coleta e do compartilhamento calcados em um redesenho colaborativo. Além disso, uma mudança política, dando ênfase na perspectiva da informação de inteligência como ativo da sociedade, em detrimento da propriedade assumida pelas organizações, individualmente, com fins de consolidação de espaço e poder. Este conjunto de mudanças se apresentou como um caminho concreto para minorar barreiras humanas e organizacionais ao fluxo de informações sensíveis.
