The Internet of Things (IoT) is a rapidly growing network that shares information over the Internet via interconnected devices. In addition, this network has led to new security challenges in recent years. One of the biggest challenges is the impact of denial-of-service (DoS) attacks on the IoT. The Information-Centric Network (ICN) infrastructure is a critical component of the IoT. The ICN has gained recognition as a promising networking solution for the IoT by supporting IoT devices to be able to communicate and exchange data with each other over the Internet. Moreover, the ICN provides easy access and straightforward security to IoT content. However, the integration of IoT devices into the ICN introduces new security challenges, particularly in the form of DoS attacks. These attacks aim to disrupt or disable the normal operation of the ICN, potentially leading to severe consequences for IoT applications. Machine learning (ML) is a powerful technology. This paper proposes a new approach for developing a robust and efficient solution for detecting DoS attacks in ICN-IoT networks using ML technology. ML is a subset of artificial intelligence (AI) that focuses on the development of algorithms. While several ML algorithms have been explored in the literature, including neural networks, decision trees (DTs), clustering algorithms, XGBoost, J48, multilayer perceptron (MLP) with backpropagation (BP), deep neural networks (DNNs), MLP-BP, RBF-PSO, RBF-JAYA, and RBF-TLBO, researchers compare these detection approaches using classification metrics such as accuracy. This classification metric indicates that SVM, RF, and KNN demonstrate superior performance compared to other alternatives. The proposed approach was carried out on the NDN architecture because, based on our findings, it is the most used one and has a high percentage of various types of cyberattacks. The development of new processor capabilities which enable hardware-based memory encryption, capable of isolating and encrypting application code and data in memory, have led to the rise of confidential computing techniques that protect data when processed on untrusted computing resources (e.g., cloud). Before confidential computing technologies, applications that needed data-in-use protection, like outsourced or secure multiparty computation, used purely cryptographic techniques, which had a large negative impact on the processing performance. Processing data in trusted enclaves protected by confidential computing technologies promises to protect data-in-use while possessing a negligible performance penalty. In this paper, we have analyzed the state-of-the-art in the field of confidential computing and present a Confidential Computing System for Artificial Intelligence (CoCoS.ai), a system for secure multiparty computation, which uses virtual machine-based trusted execution environments (in this case, AMD Secure Encrypted Virtualization (SEV)). The security of the proposed solution, as well as its performance, have been formally analyzed and measured. The paper reveals many gaps not reported previously that still exist in the current confidential computing solutions for the secure multiparty computation use case, especially in the processes of creating new secure virtual machines and their attestation, which are tailored for single-user use cases. Recent advances in Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) have increased the possibility of generating hyper-realistic DeepFake videos or images to cause serious harm to vulnerable children, individuals, and society at large with misinformation. To overcome this serious problem, many researchers have attempted to detect DeepFakes using advanced machine learning techniques and advanced fusion techniques. This paper presents a detailed review of past and present DeepFake detection methods with a particular focus on media-modality fusion and machine learning. This paper also provides detailed information on available benchmark datasets in DeepFake detection research. This review paper addressed the 67 primary papers that were published between 2015 and 2023 in DeepFake detection, including 55 research papers in image and video DeepFake detection methodologies and 15 research papers on identifying and verifying speaker authentication. This paper offers lucrative information on DeepFake detection research and offers a unique review analysis of advanced machine learning and modality fusion that sets it apart from other review papers. This paper further offers informed guidelines for future work in DeepFake detection utilizing advanced state-of-the-art machine learning and information fusion models that should support further advancement in DeepFake detection for a sustainable and safer digital future. The onset of cloud computing brought with it an adoption of containerization—a lightweight form of virtualization, which provides an easy way of developing and deploying solutions across multiple environments and platforms. This paper describes the current use of containers and complementary technologies in software development and the benefits it brings. Certain applications run into obstacles when deployed on the cloud due to the latency it introduces or the amount of data that needs to be processed. These issues are addressed by edge intelligence. This paper describes edge intelligence, the deployment of artificial intelligence close to the data source, the opportunities it brings, along with some examples of practical applications. We also discuss some of the challenges in the development and deployment of edge intelligence solutions and the possible benefits of applying containerization in edge intelligence. The research presented in this paper is the first to introduce a thorough Descriptive-Predictive–Prescriptive (DPP) Framework for comprehending the interaction between social media and cryptocurrencies. Recognizing the underexplored domain of the social-media–cryptocurrency interaction, we delve into its many aspects, better understanding present dynamics, forecasting potential future trajectories, and prescribing best solutions for stakeholders. We evaluate social media speech and behavior connected to cryptocurrencies using big data analytics, translating raw data into meaningful insights using Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques like sentiment analysis. When applied to an experimental dataset, the DPP nets superior results compared to the baseline approach, displaying an improvement of 3.44% of the Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) metric and 4.59% of the Mean Absolute Error (MAE) metric. The unique DPP framework enables a more in-depth assessment of social media's influence on cryptocurrency trends, and lays the path for strategic decision-making in this nascent but rapidly developing field of study. Machine learning is increasingly and ubiquitously being used in the medical domain. Evaluation metrics like accuracy, precision, and recall may indicate the performance of the models but not necessarily the reliability of their outcomes. This paper assesses the effectiveness of a number of machine learning algorithms applied to an important dataset in the medical domain, specifically, mental health, by employing explainability methodologies. Using multiple machine learning algorithms and model explainability techniques, this work provides insights into the models' workings to help determine the reliability of the machine learning algorithm predictions. The results are not intuitive. It was found that the models were focusing significantly on less relevant features and, at times, unsound ranking of the features to make the predictions. This paper therefore argues that it is important for research in applied machine learning to provide insights into the explainability of models in addition to other performance metrics like accuracy. We cite two critical areas where AI can play a key role in industry: product quality control and predictive maintenance. This paper presents a survey of AI applications in the domain of Industry 4.0, with a specific focus on product quality control and predictive maintenance. Experiments were conducted using two datasets, incorporating different machine learning and deep learning models from the literature. Furthermore, this paper provides an overview of the AI solution development approach for product quality control and predictive maintenance. The use of machine learning (ML) and its applications is one of the leading research areas nowadays. Neural networks have recently gained enormous popularity and many works in various fields use them in the hope of improving previous results. The application of the artificial intelligence (AI) methods and the rationale for this decision is one issue, but the assessment of such a model is a completely different matter. People mostly use mean square error or less often mean absolute error in the absolute or percentage versions. One should remember that an error does not equal an error and a single value does not provide enough knowledge about the causes of some behavior. Proper interpretation of the results is crucial. It leads to further model improvement. It might be challenging, but allows us to obtain better and more robust solutions, which ultimately solve real-life problems. The ML model assessment is the multicriteria task. A single measure delivers only a fraction of the picture. This paper aims at filling that research gap. Commonly used integral measures are compared with alternative measures like factors of the Gaussian and non-Gaussian statistics, robust statistical estimators, tail index and the fractional order. The proposed methodology delivers new single-criteria indexes or the multicriteria approach, which extend the statistical concept of the moment ratio diagram (MRD) into the index ratio diagram (IRD). The proposed approach is validated using real data from the Full Truck Load cost estimation example. It compares 35 different ML regression algorithms applied to that task. The analysis gives an insight into the properties of the selected methods, enables their comparison and homogeneity analysis and ultimately leads towards constructive suggestions for their eventual proper use. Recently, artificial intelligence (AI)-based algorithms have revolutionized the medical image segmentation processes. Thus, the precise segmentation of organs and their lesions may contribute to an efficient diagnostics process and a more effective selection of targeted therapies, as well as increasing the effectiveness of the training process. In this context, AI may contribute to the automatization of the image scan segmentation process and increase the quality of the resulting 3D objects, which may lead to the generation of more realistic virtual objects. In this paper, we focus on the AI-based solutions applied in medical image scan segmentation and intelligent visual content generation, i.e., computer-generated three-dimensional (3D) images in the context of extended reality (XR). We consider different types of neural networks used with a special emphasis on the learning rules applied, taking into account algorithm accuracy and performance, as well as open data availability. This paper attempts to summarize the current development of AI-based segmentation methods in medical imaging and intelligent visual content generation that are applied in XR. It concludes with possible developments and open challenges in AI applications in extended reality-based solutions. Finally, future lines of research and development directions of artificial intelligence applications, both in medical image segmentation and extended reality-based medical solutions, are discussed. The adoption of algorithms based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been rapidly increasing during the last few years. However, some aspects of AI techniques are under heavy scrutiny. For instance, in many use cases, it is not clear whether the decisions of an algorithm are well informed and conforming to human understanding. Having ways to address these concerns is crucial in many domains, especially whenever humans and intelligent (physical or virtual) agents must cooperate in a shared environment. In this paper, we apply an explainability method based on the creation of a Policy Graph (PG) based on discrete predicates that represent and explain a trained agent's behaviour in a multi-agent cooperative environment. We show that from these policy graphs, policies for surrogate interpretable agents can be automatically generated. These policies can be used to measure the reliability of the explanations enabled by the PGs through a fair behavioural comparison between the original opaque agent and the surrogate one. The contributions of this paper represent the first use case of policy graphs in the context of explaining agent behaviour in cooperative multi-agent scenarios and present experimental results that sets this kind of scenario apart from previous implementations in single-agent scenarios: when requiring cooperative behaviour, predicates that allow representing observations about the other agents are crucial to replicate the opaque agent's behaviour and increase the reliability of explanations.
