The demand caused by the decreasing number of tree species used in guitar production every day is being tried to be met with artificial materials in the 21st century. Guitars are produced mainly in countries where cheap labor and materials are sold at affordable prices, attracting much attention in Turkey and the rest of the world. This type of guitar, sold in some chain markets in Turkey several times a year, attracts the attention of those who mainly want to get a guitar education at the beginner level. This research aims to determine the technical, musical, and structural competence level of imported guitars used at the beginner level in Turkey. In the research conducted in the case study pattern, we studied five people who are experts in their field. "Guitar Technical and Musical Evaluation Form" and "Guitar Structural Evaluation Form" were used as data collection tools by expert opinions. The obtained data were analyzed with the appropriate computer program. The content analysis of the answers given to the open-ended questions was carried out. As a result of the research, it has been found that the guitars in question are regular in appearance, but they are technically and musically found to be incompetent. However, it has been found that the guitars are structurally proportional, but the wood quality needs to be improved. All experts have stated that these instruments have an intonation problem and are unsuitable for guitar education. In this study, data obtained from a single group pre test-post test desing process, which was intended to reveal the effects of pre-listening on students' sight-reading achievements, was investigated in terms of students' experience level and views on their own performances. Undergraduate class level was taken as criterion for experience. First and second grades were taken as "first level", third and fourth grades were taken as "second level". As self evaluation criterion, students' positive, negative or neutral opinions on their pre-test and post-test performances were accepted. The complete undergraduate guiar students attending Gazi University Education Faculty Fine Arts Education Department Music Teaching Programme have formed the participant group of the experiment (n=15). The experiment has procceded as two equal sight-reading pieces' performance by students, one in the pre-test and the other in the post-test and evaluation by experts. Pre-listening variable was applied in the post-test. It was seen that students levels of response to pre-listening had no statistical significance with regards to experience and self-evaluation, except the examination of "ability of playing right notes" according to undergraduate level. In addition, findings on the effect of pre-listening according to the undergraduate level have shown that the students in the "first level" are positively influenced from pre-listening at a % 1.5 rate and students in the "second level" are negatively influenced from pre-listening at a rate of % 4.25. Findings on the effect of pre-listening according to the students self evaluations have shown that students can be aware of negative effects of pre-listening at %5 rateand positive effects at %2 rate. This research aims to determine the student's knowledge levels in the Department of music education after completing two semesters of Western music theory and practice courses. The study group consisted of 126 students studying in the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades of Marmara University Atatürk Faculty of Education, Department of Fine Arts Education, Department of Music Education. The study was designed using a descriptive survey model, and the Western music theory and practice knowledge test and personal information form developed by the researchers were used as data collection tools. The data obtained were analyzed with the help of Kruskall-Wallis and Mann-Whitney U tests. According to the research results, the fact that the students studying in the Department of music education have taken only two semesters of Western music theory and practice courses shows that they are inadequate in musical hearing, reading and writing skills. In addition, variables such as the type of high school the students graduated from, their level of finding the duration of the course sufficient, and their musical hearing, reading and writing education before starting university revealed that there were significant differences between the total scores of the western music theory and practice course achievement test. This research is considered an important research that can contribute to the existing limited studies and develop a knowledge test to measure the knowledge of students studying in the Department of music education towards Western music theory and practice courses. This study is aimed to investigate the attitudes of 11th and 12th-grade students in Mersin Toroslar Anatolian High School towards music lessons according to different variables and to find out their perceptions regarding the concept of 'Music Lesson' through metaphors. In the research, the convergent parallel design, one of the mixed method designs, was used. The data of the research were collected with "metaphor", the "Attitude Towards Secondary Education Music Course Scale" developed by Varış and Cesur (2012) and "Personal Information Form". When the qualitative data results of the research are examined; it has been determined that the 11th and 12th-grade students produced a total of 134 metaphors, including 103 positive and 31 negative ones for the attitudes towards music lessons. It was found that female students produced 50 positives, and 9 negatives and male students produced 53 positives and 22 negative metaphors. It was concluded that the average of positive metaphors for the concept of music lessons of female students was 0.85, while male students' average of positive metaphors was 0.71. This result has shown that the attitudes of 11th and 12th-grade female students towards music lessons are higher than those of male students. It was concluded that the attitudes of 11th and 12th-grade male and female students towards the music lesson were at an average level with a positive metaphor average of 0.77. When the quantitative data results of the research were examined, it was found that the average attitude of the students towards the music lesson was 56.36 and the attitude of the students towards the music lesson was at an average level. On the other hand, it was concluded that there was no statistically significant difference according to the variables of students' gender, grade level, and educational status of parents. This study aims to analyze all parts of the Sonatina no. 1 in c major, one of the Op.36 sonatinas of Muzio Clementi, considering the outcomes targeted at beginner and intermediate-level piano education. It thus draws on the descriptive method to examine the written documents on the sonatina and to gather the notes of the Op.36 c major sonatina published by different publishing houses. Among the notes reviewed in this study, there is the sample in the sonatina album published by Peters Edition under the editorship of Louis Koehler. The analysis of the three parts of this sonatina shows that these parts include technical subjects such as legato, staccato, non legato, training on octave range, finger independence, scale, arpej, double stop playing, tril and acor. In conclusion, this study reveals that all parts of the Sonatina no. 1 in c major, one of the Op.36 sonatinas of Muzio Clementi, improve not only beginner-level but also intermediate-level piano practices technically. The aim of this study is to analyze the etude book of Giuseppe Gariboldi in terms of technical aspects. For this purpose, 58 etudes in the book were analyzed in terms of tonality, number of measures, octave range, rhythmic group, articulation, ornamentation, modulation, interval, arpeggio and scale. Categorical analysis, one of the content analysis techniques, was used to evaluate the data. The categories determined in the research were subjected to frequency analysis, tabulated and interpreted. In the examined etude book, it was concluded that the majority of the etudes consisted of C major and G major studies, simple and compound measure types, rhythmic group and articulation variety, modulations, arpeggio, scale, interval, long sound studies were included in the etudes, when the thinnest and thickest sounds in the etudes were examined, it was concluded that almost every note of the flute was practiced within the sound range of 3 octaves. The aim of this research is to determine the views of conservatory students on the bibliotherapy in music and piano education. This study was carried out with a qualitative approach and is in the phenomenological pattern. In phenomenological studies, it is aimed to put the meanings that the individual attributes to the phenomena. The study group consists of 7 conservatory students selected by homogeneous sampling method. The data in the research were obtained through semi-structured interviews. The data obtained as a result of the research were analyzed with the content analysis method. In the research, the opinions of the students were collected in 5 categories as general opinions on the use of bibliotherapy in music and piano education, individual contribution of bibliotherapy, contribution to music and piano education, positive and negative opinions. The three most prominent results in all categories in the research are awareness of insight, insight, and being able to recognize problems. The participants of the study stated that they had insight and awareness as a result of bibliotheraphy. In line with the findings obtained in the research, it was concluded that the participants were able to identify and cope with the problems they encountered in piano and music education more easily, thanks to their awareness of their personal backgrounds through bibliotherapy. This study aims to analyze the music curriculum used in Bosniak schools in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The research was conducted with a qualitative approach and case study design. Data were collected through the document analysis method. The documents were obtained from the Guca Gora school in Travnik, the capital of the Central Bosnia Canton. The documents were checked on the Ministry of Education website. The data were analyzed with descriptive analysis. The data were classified according to the framework created by taking expert opinions. The curriculum was examined in terms of its form, content, basic structure and learning areas, specific objectives, learning, and teaching skills, and educational outcomes. The following results were determined regarding the music curriculum: it was prepared with a constructivist approach; it is in the form of a fivedimensional learning space; the music course aims to create a music culture; the program has been prepared following the general-purpose; cultural elements are included; there are errors in the acquisitions. Educating students who are highly aware and conscious about research is one of the important goals of the music department programs in Turkey. In this study, it was aimed to examine the level of art literacy of 1-2-3-4. Year students studying in the fall semester of 2020-2021 of the music department of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Kırıkkale University in terms of various variables. The research model is the scanning model included in quantitative research. The "Art literacy scale" developed by Yücetoker (2014), consisting of four factors, was used as a data collection tool in the study. First of all, students' art literacy questionnaire scores were calculated. Then, the relationship between the levels of art literacy obtained and the variables of whether to read books, whether to read art books, whether to work in the library, and the success score of TYT was examined. According to the results, the average art literacy levels of GSF music department students were well above average. It was found that the level of art literacy of those who liked to read books was higher than those who did not like to read books. It was found that those who liked to read art books had higher levels of art literacy than those who did not. It was found that those who liked to research in the library had higher levels of art literacy than those who did not. In this research, graduate theses written in Turkey and the world between 1933-2019 in the field of group piano education were examined in terms of different variables and in this context a general picture of the situation of graduate theses was presented. The research data consists of 166 graduate theses in the field of group piano education selected by sampling method available from the National Thesis Center of the Council of Higher Education (CoHE) and Proquest Dissertations and Theses Global databases. The research was intended to contribute to the creation of resources for new studies in the field of group piano education by considering the distribution of graduate thesis studies on group piano education. For this purpose, the distribution of theses according to their types, year of completion, countries and universities, subject areas, research methods used, data collection tools, sample/study groups were examined. The research is a descriptive study and content analysis techniques are used for data analysis. Theses in the field of group piano education were examined and classification of theses according to their subjects, frequency (f) and percentage (%) distributions were made and the representation of the results was explained with the help of relevant tables and figures. The data obtained in the research show that the majority of theses published in the field of group piano education is at the level of doctorate, that the published theses have increased systematically between 1970-2010, that the most studies have been carried out in the University of Oklahoma in the USA, mostly in the field of functional skills in group piano education and that working groups consisting of piano teachers are preferred in most of the researches. In this study, students of Necmettin Erbakan University Ahmet Keleşoğlu Faculty of Education Department of Fine Arts Education Department of Music Education had multiple intelligence profiles and piano and main instrument successes; gender and class variables were aimed to be compared. In the study, 80-item "Multiple Intelligence Assessment Scale" of developed by Armstrong (1994) was used as data collection tool. In addition, a structured interview form was prepared to obtain the relevant variables. The scale was applied to 106 students, and the Kolmogorov Smirnov test was applied to determine whether the data were normally. According to the results as the data were normally, ANOVA was used in comparison of multiple groups and Independent Sample- T test was used in comparison of two groups. According to the results obtained; female students' verbal, visual, musical, physical, intrapersonal and naturalistic intelligence profiles are more developed than male students; according to the grade level variable, there was no difference between intelligence profiles. Some other important results; verbal intelligence profiles of students whose main instrument lesson grades are between 60-74 are more developed than those of students between 50-59; piano lesson notes that students with grades 0-49 have more advanced visual intelligence profiles than students with grades 50-74. In these days, everybody encounters many problems everyday and these people struggle and try to overcome these problems. Achievement in problem solving skills effects the achievements in social and professional life of individuals. Many skills in the process of music education require high level problem solving skills. In this sense the aim of this study is to determine whether there is significant difference between the participants' perceptions on problem solving skills and their genders, grades, ages and the schools that that they receive education from. Also the relation between perceptions on problem solving skills of participants and their instrument examination scores were investigated. Data was gathered from 203 pre-service music teachers. The Problem Solving Inventory, which was developed by Heppner and Petersen (1982) and translated into Turkish by Şahin, Şahin and Heppner (1993), was used and also a Personal Information Form was used as data colleting devices. According to the results there is no significant difference between the perceptions of participants on problems solving skills and their genders, grades, ages and the schools that they receive education. There was a significant negative low relation between the participants' perceptions on problem solving skills and their instrument examination scores. In this study, a scale was developed in order to measure the attitudes of students studying in music departments towards harmony course. The scale was applied to 175 students who were studying in different music programs of universities. The scale consists of a total of 34 items and is a 5-point Likert-type scale. Ratings were made between 1 and 5. Cronbach's alpha reliability coefficient of the scale was calculated as 0.966. As a result of the factor analysis, it was found that the attitude scale for the harmony course consisted of only one dimension and the contribution of this dimension to the total variance was 47.708%. The factor loads of the obtained items vary between 0.603 and 0.840. According to the results obtained, the Attitude Scale for Harmony Course is a valid and reliable scale and it can be used in the field of music education. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In Turkey, the main purpose of the Orchestra/Chamber Music lessons practiced with different contents in terms of level and purpose at the institutions where vocational music education is to recognize and promote the pieces of national and international polyphonic music repertory by performing them within the framework of performing together rules and discipline, and to develop musical hearing of students by creating an awareness of common music performance by means of performing together. In line with the purposes of this lesson, the pieces are chosen by the instructors who conduct the lesson considering different variables, and the programs prepared are exhibited within the scope of various musical activities as a product of the education delivered. In this study, the concert programs which have been reached between 2013-2019 years prepared by the music education departments were researched in order to detect the tendencies to the piece selection at the concerts which were prepared within the scope of the Orchestra/Chamber Music lesson in the department of music education at the universities, which are among the institutions that deliver vocational music education. The purpose of this study is to define the relationship between the case of having amateurish music education and academic achievements in sixth-grade students. The study, which is a scanning model, has a universe consisting of sixth grade students and a sample group (n=613) consisting of sixth grade students who are attending 8 different schools from 4 different districts situated inside the borders of the city Ankara. The data connected with the students situations of having amateurish music education were gathered from the "personal information" form and the academic achievements were assessed by the students repord cards of the related year. Obtained data was compared and evaluated using statistichal techniques suitable for the goals of the study. A significant difference was found between music and non-music students academic achievements even depends on what field of music they were educated in, for how many years they have been instructed and how many hours a week they have been having lessons. This research was carried out in order to determine the opinions of the students who took the course "Dance, Music and Music" in the seventh semester of Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University Faculty of Education Fine Arts Education Department Music Education Department. The research is a qualitative research and includes the screening model. The data were collected by using the unstructured measurement tool developed by the researcher in the direction of expert opinion. "Content analysis" was used to analyze the obtained qualitative data. In the analysis of the students' opinions, the answers were examined one by one, similar expressions were grouped, tabulated and interpreted. In the survey, three groups and groups of themes were formed in the direction of the opinions of the students, "Opinions of the students before the lessons", "Opinions of the students about the lessons" and "Opinions of the students about their achievements". The aim of this study is to identify how much importance and contribution are provided for the music activities and teaching music in schools by analyzing the attitutes of secondary school managers working for the Ministry of Education towards music classes and to offer referable solutions. The scope of the research is identified as being secondary school managers in Ministry of Education in 2013 - 2014 Education and Teaching Period. The sample group of the research consists of 221 school managers working in 85 secondary schools chosen with the method of simple random sampling from 24 different provinces in different 7 regions of Turkey. The research data was collected by “ music classes attittude scale “ which was developed by the researcher. To analyze the quantitative data, SPSS 17.0 was used. The data was analyzed by Factor Anaylsis, Cronbach Alpha reliability formula, KMO ( Kaiser Mayer Olkin ) , BTS ( Barlett’s Test ) , Mann-Whitney U Test, and Kruskal Wallis Test. The statistical results were evaluated at 0.05 significance level. In the light of obtained information, no change was observed in the attittudes of secondary school managers towards music classes. The influence of teachers is great in determining the quality of education. If teachers working in an institution do not have the necessary qualifications and standards, expected performance cannot be met. Therefore, the success of an educational institution depends on how qualified the teachers’ training were at university and how well they improve themselves when they become teachers. From this point of view, music teacher candidates’ competences became a research subject. The purpose of this study was to measure music teacher candidates’ professional competences. The study is a quantitative study. The study group consisted of 25 fourth year teacher candidates studying at Music Education Department of Nigde Ömer Halisdemir University’s Faculty of Education during the fall semester of 2016-2017 academic year. “Scale of Music Teachers’ Professional Competences” developed by Akbulut (2012) was employed as the study data collection tool. The likert-type scale includes 40 items. Mann-Whitney U Test, one of the nonparametric methods, and Kruskal Wallis test were used for data analysis. In the study, music teacher candidates’ professional competences were examined in terms of gender, father education level, mother education level, whether or not they took an instrument lessons before their undergraduate program, subject knowledge and professional subject knowledge variables. It was seen that competence level of the study group did not show significant difference in terms of gender, father education level, mother education level, subject knowledge and professional subject knowledge variables. Whether or not they took an instrument lessons before their undergraduate program had a significant effect on music teacher candidates’ competences. The study results show that teacher candidates found themselves “moderately” competent in singing songs with a musical sensitivity, using at least one school instrument effectively in class and forming polyphonic chorus and orchestra. It was, also, found that students believed themselves and their friends highly competent in “They are aware that education plays an important role in students realizing their abilities”. This study was carried out to determine the desperation levels of the students studying in the music education department of Gazi Education Faculty of Gazi University. The space of the study was consisted by the first, second, third and forth year students of the same department. All of the space was taken as the sample. The desperation levels of the students were determined by the use 20 question Beck desperation scale. According to the statistical data obtained for the expectations and feeling for the future , loss of motivation and hope sub dimensions of the desperation revealed that the students have high motivation but low expectations and feelings for the future. When these dimensions are examined with t test the girls have low expectations and feeling for the future while the boys suffer from loss of motivation and lower hope. There were no significant changes in the sub dimensions of the desperation and the gender, class, the high school, the main instrument and the age of the students. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This research has been done by experimental method. The perception performance of the students who are at the last class in mathematics and Turkish departments have been compared. The student in mathematics department represent logical and mathematical mental field and the students in Turkish department represent Turkish-linguistics mental field. Today, learning music early has an importance, to identify of the mental field of our children and to develop and to grow the whole mental field have been the target of the educators. Absolute pitch described as a virtue of recognizing a musical sound without any reference is not a pre requisite or an indicator of a musical skill. Most of the professional musicians do not have this skill. Musicians furnished with relative pitch skill can comparatively determine the relations or the degrees between the sounds in a much more complicated cognitive process. Some of the research carried out related to his topic stresses that absolute pitch is a genetically acquired skill while some studies claim that this skill is related to the anatomic structure of the brain.
