The article discusses U.S. schools' use of financial incentives to improve students' academic achievements. Topics include The College Readiness Program from the National Math and Science Initiative (NMSI) and its efforts to encourage student enrollment in advanced placement (AP) programs, the use of college scholarships to motivate students to complete college, and the Promise scholarship in Oklahoma. A survey conducted by the magazine regarding student engagement is presented.
