Abstract
The article discusses an announcement by Jahangir Akbar, the head of Oldknow Academy in Birmingham, England, that he intends to remain in his position despite controversy over the dismissal of heads and governors of Birmingham schools as of July 2014. Topics addressed include public funds paid by Oldknow to Pauline Geoghegan, spokesperson of the Hands Off Birmingham Schools, in order to oppose the dismissals, as well as allegations of Muslims' attempts to gain influence within the schools.
