The primary focus is on complex ideas like multiple junctions and tandem solar cells, which increase the efficiency of single-junction systems. The review paper investigates innovative solar power storage solutions, involving battery technology and energy storage materials, to meet the increasing need for secure and easily available sources of clean energy. The research paper explores the technology and uses of flat plate collectors, tube collectors, and solar power plants and how those are used in residential and commercial solar thermal systems. Solar energy conversion efficiency and sustainability will improve with innovations in materials and architecture. Building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) is one of the easiest solar system architectures that can be integrated into any residential or commercial building. Quantum dot solar cells, photovoltaic (PV) solar energy frameworks, such as CIGS thin-film solar cells, and organic photovoltaics (OPVs). Organic photovoltaics are portable and lightweight but have a low energy conversion rate, whereas quantum dot solar cells have a high energy conversion rate but face fabrication challenges.

Eco-design is a crucial approach in achieving sustainable manufacturing, which seeks to reduce the environmental impact of products and processes throughout their lifecycle. This paper explores the principles and tools that are used in eco-design, providing an overview of the key concepts and methods for sustainable manufacturing. The principles of eco-design are centered on minimizing the environmental impact of products and processes through the use of renewable resources, reducing waste and emissions, and improving energy and material efficiency. The paper discusses these principles in detail and highlights the benefits that can be achieved by implementing eco-design in manufacturing. The tools and methods of eco-design include life cycle assessment (LCA), design for environment (DfE), and environmental management systems (EMS) whereas DfE involves designing products and processes to minimize their environmental impact. EMS provides a framework for managing environmental performance across an organization. The paper also discusses the challenges of implementing eco-design in manufacturing, including the need for collaboration across different functions within an organization, the availability of data and resources, and the complexity of the supply chain. Organizations can implement eco design by utilizing Life Cycle Assessment, eco-labeling, and Design for the Environment. This approach can help organizations initiate or improve sustainable production practices.

Introduction – Supply chain strategy is a cluster of decisions related to goals, actions to take, and management resources to achieve the corporate goals. In the current situation, the business environment has dramatically changed. Under the VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, ambiguity), a suitable supply chain strategy will support the company to meet its goals. Supply chain resilience is a crucial area that many academics suggest helps the company better performance and competitive advantage in the industry. Purpose –This paper reviews supply chain strategies that affect supply chain resilience and sustainability. It focuses on the tea producers' supply chains in Thailand. Methodology/Approach – This paper reviews the empirical knowledge and research for supply chain strategy and resilience related to the VUCA situation. Originality/ Value/ Implication – The study results found that planning, collaboration, and innovation are related to supply chain resilience. They support supply chain performance and sustainability through supply chain resilience.

Information Technology (IT) Sector is known for its fast paced and dynamic work environment, which often leads to role conflict among IT professionals. This paper presents a bibliometric analysis and systematic literature review of the phenomenon of role conflict in the IT sector. The study analyses a total 77 academic papers published till 2022, indexed in Scopus and Web of Science database. The bibliometric analysis identifies the most influential authors, journals and keywords related to the topic of role conflict in the IT sector. The systematic literature review identifies and synthesizes the major themes, theoretical perspectives and research method used in the literature on role conflict in the IT sector. The findings suggests that role conflict in the IT sector is a complex phenomenon that can result from a variety of factors including conflicting expectations, unclear job responsibilities, and organisational, and environmental factors that contribute to role conflict, as well as the strategies that can be used to manage and reduce it. The study concludes with recommendations for future research and practical implications for organisations seeking to mitigate the negative effects of role conflict on their employees and performance.

The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in the excessive use of personal protective equipment used by people to safeguard them from contracting viruses. The use of plastic gloves and face masks has raised environmental concerns. The undue accumulation of this personal protective equipment has resulted in the degradation of land and water and contributed to the spread of the virus. Thus, this research paper is divided into two parts. The first phase entails completing thorough literature research to compile data on the mechanical, chemical, and physical properties of face masks. The second phase involves the potential reusing of face masks as an additive in concrete. This study’s findings can have a significant implication for the construction industry concerning environmental pollution management. This paper also highlights the effects of improper disposal of these face masks in terms of health and safety to the common public. Moreover, the study’s results can encourage further research on the potential application of face masks in other construction materials, leading to the development of more environmentally friendly building materials.

The integration of algorithms and AI in generative engineering enables the investigation of broad possibilities for design, with a goal of increasing the productivity, environmental sustainability and aesthetically appeal of constructions. The current research examines the effective implementation of generative design algorithms for dealing with difficult structural issues to generate creative solutions. The text explores into the mathematical methods included its effect on sustainable design, and the potential for customization throughout the area of structural engineering. This study also explores case studies in which the use of generative design is being successfully implemented, providing valuable insights into its real-world benefits and limitations. The main objective is to prove the consequences of generative design algorithms for the design procedure, as well as their involvement in increased creativity, efficiency, as well as environmental sustainability in the field of construction engineering.

Sustainability has been the concern of all nations during the last years. In fact, it is about planning actual needs while keeping the ability to provide the future generations’ needs. It is quite challenging since it combines social, economic and environmental factors in order to create a stable society. This paper tackles an important topic, which is the Sustainable Development Goals, how the use of big data can help in their achievement and assessment. The focus of this work will be on two important SDGs which are SDG 6 and 7. We will handle SDG 6 which is about Clean Water and Sanitation, and SDG7 that concerns Affordable and Clean Energy. We will review the main and recent technologies of big data that are used in both fields. This is because big data technologies have shown excellent results in the evaluation and construction of prediction models to achieve sustainability.

The paper underscores the varying and conflicting interests of local community, local government and corporate interest; how CSR implement should comply with the regulation sets by the Indonesia government or fulfill local community needs in aim to gain more favor. This paper aims to analyze the process of formulating the model, the form of execution and the synchronization the implementation of CSR, method used in this research is qualitative, with a case study on PT. Dwikarya Reksa Abadi , Wanam District, Merauke Papua Indonesia. This paper reviews the existing CSR implementation in Merauke Papua with objective of identifying gaps and developing a framework to guide the future CSR implementation. The results showed that the company PT. Dwikarya Reksa Abadi, has implemented CSR to the local community and local economic development around the company as planned but has not received support from labor and community for a conducive business climate, and there are still CSR activities that must be implemented to fulfill local community needs.

Mobile wallets have gained widespread popularity as a convenient, secure, and user-friendly payment method embraced by consumers. However, the pace of mobile wallet adoption has exhibited variations across different markets, primarily due to a range of factors. In this study, we present an all-encompassing examination of existing literature, aiming to pinpoint the fundamental elements influencing the sustainable acceptance of mobile wallets by consumers. Through an exhaustive analysis of 80 research papers published between 2010 and 2022, we discern the prevailing factors that hold sway over the adoption of mobile wallets. Our scrutinization highlights that factor such as perceived sustainability, usefulness, ease of use, security, social influence, trustworthiness, and compatibility stand out as the most formidable propellants of mobile wallet adoption. Furthermore, our investigation uncovers hurdles that hinder the wider acceptance of mobile wallets, encompassing insufficient awareness, perceived intricacies, and lingering uncertainties regarding the technology’s sustainability. Our in-depth evaluation underscores the necessity of comprehending consumer perspectives and dispositions towards mobile wallets to galvanize their adoption sustainably. The culmination of our inquiry involves a discourse on the implications drawn from our discoveries, catering to researchers and practitioners vested in fostering the sustainable adoption of mobile wallets.

This article investigates the merging of geopolymerization and plastic waste usage, imagining high-performance brick production that couples innovation with sustainability, in an effort to transform the environmental effect of the building sector. This idea is supported by the circular economy, which diverts resources from waste streams into a closed-loop paradigm. By creating inorganic polymers from aluminosilicate-rich sources, the chemical process of geopolymerization provides a paradigm change in the production of materials. This procedure is improved even more by the addition of plastic trash, which combats plastic pollution and improves brick qualities. In order to create a more resilient and environmentally conscientious construction industry in the future, this paper outlines the process’s complexities, advantages, and difficulties while arguing for a harmonic fusion of circular economy concepts, technical innovation, and environmental stewardship.

In the current paper, AA6101-T6 aluminium alloy was subjected to friction stir welding (FSW) utilizing a vertical milling machine. Alloy plates were welded in butt position to provide a virtually flat interface, using a tool shape that was carefully selected. Because of the excessive generation of heat via the tool and workpieces during friction stir welding, substantial deformation in the nugget zone is seen. The mechanical attributes of the base metal at the joint are significantly impacted by an excessive variation in temperature at the weld. In this experiment, mechanical properties-related changes through the FSW process are kept to a minimum to achieve high tensile strength. The tool’s rotating speed (measured in rpm), the workpieces' traverse speed (measured in mm/min), and the tool tilt angle were chosen as the parameters to regulate the weld quality. As a result of its 44% contribution, the rotating speed parameter is shown to be the most beneficial one for stir welding. The metric determining transverse speed contributes the least, at 19%. For effective stir welding, such as high strength welds, defect-free welds, short welding times, low welding costs, etc., it is preferred that the tool rotational speed parameter be concentrated. By using sustainable Taguchi approach to optimize the chosen process parameter, high tensile strength is achieved at the welded connection.

Traditionally, river sand was utilized as fine aggregate in concrete manufacturing. However, due to the ongoing extraction of natural river sand, its availability has become limited. Construction businesses have begun to explore for alternative sustainable resources to use as fine aggregate. Manufactured sand (M- sand), recycled concrete aggregate, crushed granite, rice husk ash, fly ash, and other materials can cause dumpsite and environmental contamination. These materials are viable substitutes for natural river sand as fine aggregate. Unexpanded perlite is also one such material which can be used as a replacement for fine aggregate. Unexpanded Perlite is a natural material in the form of volcanic glass resulted from cooled lava. This paper presents the utilization of M-Sand with partial replacement of unexpanded perlite as a fine aggregate. In the present research, the effect of unexpanded Perlite with M- sand in concrete is studied to determine the mechanical properties such as compressive strength at 7 days, 14 days and 28 days, split tensile strength at 28days and flexural strength at 28 days. M-Sand is used in the range of 62%, 60%, 58%, 56%, 54%, 52% and 50% with Unexpanded Perlite UP in the percentage of 38%, 40%, 42%, 44%, 46%, 48% and 50% respectively. The Unexpanded Perlite can withstand the 1.5 times of thermal resistivity when compared to the conventional concrete.

In recent years, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) techniques such as Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) and Support Vector Machines (SVMs), in combination with the Internet of Things (IoT), has gained significant attention for optimizing energy consumption in commercial buildings. With the increasing demand for energy and the rising costs of energy, there is a pressing need for efficient methods for energy management in commercial buildings. Smart energy consumption control systems that utilize machine learning algorithms and IoT devices can provide real-time data on energy usage and automate energy usage decisions in commercial buildings. In this paper, we investigate the potential of ANN and SVM-based smart energy consumption control systems in commercial buildings. We aim to analyze the impact of using these algorithms on energy consumption patterns in commercial buildings and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of these systems in reducing energy consumption and costs while maintaining the desired level of comfort for the occupants. Our study will focus on comparing the performance of ANN and SVM-based algorithms in terms of energy consumption reduction and cost savings. The results of this study can provide valuable insights into the application of ANN and SVM-based smart energy consumption control systems in commercial buildings and contribute to the development of more sustainable and energy-efficient buildings.

Driven by energy efficiency requirements and legal restrictions like F-Gas Regulation Heat Pump OEM supplier are looking for alternative refrigerant solutions. HFO based low GWP refrigerants can help increasing the system efficiency, expanding the operating temperature range while reducing CO2 emissions. For building restoration in particular, high flow temperatures (for existing hydronic heating system) are essential for convenient and cost-and energy-efficient replacements of fossil fuel boilers. A2L classified refrigerants provide extended application range at highest safety level versus A3 classified refrigerants, but R-32 still carries a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 675 making it a transitional solution. This paper compares different relevant parameters and points out the advantages provided by HFO A2L low GWP refrigerants (like R-454B and R-454C) for a wide capacity range of air to water and brine to water heat pumps. A special focus is put on the application of building restoration.

In the face of a global pandemic, the ever-present threat of climate change and the highly unstable economic and social global systems the resource poor smallholder farmer is increasingly finding it harder to meet with the daily challenges of sustaining the livelihood of the farmer and his family. This paper is a review of the challenges of smallholder’s rubber farmers, strategies adopted to build the resilience of the farmers and technological adaptations to sustain the resilience of the smallholder’s rubber farmers in Nigeria. The work looked at the manipulation of space or spacing techniques in rubber-based agroforestry systems, mixed farming in rubber production, cropping patterns, soil nutrient and weed management methods and socioeconomic benefits to the rubber smallholders. The results indicated that RBAF systems helped resource poor rural farmers increase family food supply, improved income and reduced the gestation period of rubber leading to improved livelihood. This results will help in attracting more smallholders to rubber plantation establishment, leading to increased national rubber production for local and international markets and increase industrial development in rubber and rubber related products.

The paper studies the problem of overall assessment of energy sector development options from the standpoint of meeting energy security requirements. It is shown that as the projection time frame extends further into the future, its economic component gains in importance on a par with integral indicators descriptive of strategic threats to and sustainability of energy systems development. Methodological approaches to assessment of these indicators are proposed.

Increasing the number of ship repair that make improvements it can be ensured that the greater the level of pollution will occur. Facilities (Infrastructure) is very helpful to minimize the pollution that will occur when ship repair. If the conditions of Infrastructure make it possible to flourish nowadays, which will further improve environmental performance. Development to improve domestic shipyard Infrastructure sustainability is very importance since 20% of national ship repair is still undertaken in foreign shipyard. This indicates that the ability of national shipyards still need to be improved especially in the infrastructure and facilities sector as production supports. This paper used data sample was undertaken in State-Owned Shipyard industry located in North Jakarta. Data analysis was undertaken starting from the ship entry, repair process until the accomplishment of ship repair. This research is testing the chemical impacts with related chemical parameters around the shipyard. the results showed that dangerous chemical concentrations were located around the shipyard and threatened the surrounding aquatic ecosystems. there needs to be management of shipbuilding infrastructure management that can minimize hazardous waste, especially basic storage. Basically the improvement of shipyard infrastructure can be undertaken if the ship repair process keeps increasing.

The aims of this paper to identify a relationship of social capital with the participation of women in their community to realize the sustainablity of rive in urban areas and to achieve resilience of the city. Efforts to increase women’s participation in urban planning and environmental management require the support of social capital in local contexts to achieve sustainability of river in urban areas. The method used in this research is a quantitative approach, with this type of research is descriptive-explanatory. Data collection techniques in this study by conducting surveys with questionnaire disseminating and literature study. The research location was undertaken in DKI Jakarta as the metropolitan city has the complexity of problems because of the density of citizens and environmental degradation, especially in the river area. The result of this study shows the social capital of the community has a relation to the proactive participation of women. The activity of capacity building for women for environmental management need to strengthen the values of togetherness and trust to actors who are the drivers of citizens and the implementers of community empowerment. The implication of this study can be used for strategy in protecting of the river in urban areas to adopting a more environmentally friendly approach by integrating gender equality.

Policy makers throughout the world have accepted climate change as a repercussion of fossil fuel exploitation. This has led the governments to integrate renewable energy streams in their national energy mix. PV off-grid Systems have been at the forefront of this transition because of their permanently increasing efficiency and cost effectiveness. These systems are expected to produce large amount of different waste streams at the end of their lifetime. It is important that these waste streams should be recycled because of the lack of available resources. Our study found that separate researches have been carried out to increase the efficiencies of recycling of individual PV system components but there is a lack of a comprehensive methodical research which details efficient and sustainable recycling processes for the entire PV off-grid system. This paper reviews the current and future recycling technologies for PV off-grid systems and presents a scheme of the most sustainable recycling technologies which have the potential for adoption. Full Recovery End-of-Life Photovoltaic (FRELP) recycling technology can offer opportunities to sustainably recycle crystalline silicon PV modules. Electro-hydrometallurgical process & Vacuum technologies can be used for recovering lead from lead acid batteries with a high recovery rate. The metals in the WEEE can be recycled by using a combination of biometallurgical technology, vacuum metallurgical technology and other advanced metallurgical technologies (utrasonical, mechano-chemical technology) while the plastic components can be effectively recycled without separation by using compatibilizers. All these advanced technologies when used in combination with each other provide sustainable recycling options for growing PV off-grid systems waste. These promising technologies still need further improvement and require proper integration techniques before implementation.
