This paper presents a real-time GPS tracking solution for connected vehicle networks, leveraging IoT, V2X communication, and VANET technologies. The system uses Arduino Uno R3, SIM800L, NEO6M GPS, Node.js, socket, and Firebase for seamless real-time GPS data collection, storage, and visualization. Users can access and monitor GPS data on a web interface. Integration of Node.js and sockets ensures efficient hardware-software communication, while Firebase enables realtime data storage and synchronization for resource management and tracking. The paper explores the system’s applications in dynamic routing for energy efficiency, eco-driving feedback, smart charging stations, environmental data collection, intelligent traffic management, and fleet emissions reduction. These applications highlight the system’s versatility, promoting energy efficiency and sustainability across industries. By incorporating IoT, VANET, and V2X communication, the system enables seamless connectivity and data exchange among vehicles, infrastructure, and the cloud, enhancing decision-making and system efficiency. Insights into system implementation, including IoT, VANET, and real-time GPS integration, are provided. The paper discusses transportation, logistics, and vehicule tracking as potential application domains, which hold promise for optimizing energy consumption. The presented solution offers an efficient, reliable platform for real-time GPS tracking in connected vehicle networks, harnessing IoT, VANET, and V2X communication for enhanced decisionmaking and sustainable transportation systems.

Residential buildings in Russia consume electricity, natural gas, thermal energy for home and water heating, as well as other resources from external suppliers. Such resource consumption results in direct and indirect carbon dioxide emissions that affect the environment. Sustainable development requires the humanity to fit the environmental carrying capacity, and measures against climate change require carbon emissions to reduce. This paper compares carbon footprint reduction target declared by UNCC Conference 2015 and the Paris Agreement, as well as targets offered by other environmental institutions, to carbon emissions arising from existing Russian building standards and social norms application, and actual data. Building standards set the amount of heat per square meter to be delivered to apartment buildings depending on its geographic location, while social norms set a minimal premises area per resident. Also social standards for electricity and natural gas consumption per person exist. Russian Government decrees regulate utility services parameters for apartment and residential buildings, setting hot water temperature and consumption standards per resident and for common household needs. These norms and standards permit the minimal carbon dioxide emissions per year per resident to assess and compare to the carbon footprint reduction target. This paper demonstrates that existing Russian building standards and norms result in carbon emissions per capita significantly exceeding the targets, and recommends standards and norms update to reduce carbon footprint, admitting at the same time that such update is only a step towards the Paris Agreement targets.

Efficient traffic flow prediction is paramount in modern urban transportation management, contributing significantly to energy efficiency and overall sustainability. Traditional traffic prediction models often struggle in complex urban traffic networks, especially at multi-intersection junctions. In response to this challenge, this research paper presents a pioneering approach that not only enhances traffic flow prediction accuracy but also indirectly supports energy efficiency. This study leverages deep learning techniques, specifically the Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU), to analyze traffic patterns simultaneously at multiple intersections within a city. By treating the entire traffic network as a distributed system, the model provides real-time predictions, allowing for better traffic management and reduced fuel consumption. Moreover, the incorporation of data fusion techniques, which integrate data from various sources, including traffic sensors and historical traffic information, bolsters the accuracy and robustness of predictions. By predicting traffic flows with precision, this research aids in optimizing traffic signal timing, reducing congestion, and ultimately promoting more efficient transportation systems, which, in turn, reduces fuel wastage and emissions. This study, therefore, advances intelligent transportation systems and offers a promising pathway toward improved energy efficiency in urban mobility.

The paper studies the prospects for the introduction of advanced production technologies (APT) and new business models at the enterprises of the automotive industry of the Russian Federation in order to find the balance between the investments into the more efficient energy management of the industrial buildings and the financing of digitalization process in the model of “factories of the future”. It includes the study of the opportunities that appear in companies that are “factories of the future”, the analysis of the existing experience in the implementation of APT and energy efficiency tools at the enterprises of the automotive industry in Russia and Europe and the identification of the factors limiting widespread “factories of the future” at the moment. The authors present an economic view on the problem of integrating both advanced production technologies and new energy management models into the activities of the Russian automotive industry enterprises.

Increasing energy efficiency and reliability of power grids is becoming an essential part of grid energy management. Accurately predicting load demand is one of the most important responsibilities of any power utility. This paper focuses on medium term load forecasting for the Moroccan province of Taroudannt using historical monthly load data for five years (2018-2022), temperature and wind speed. This study is the first of its kind in Morocco, particularly within the province of Taroudannt. The main objective is to contribute to the improvement of energy efficiency in the Souss Massa region. To forecast consumed energy, the fuzzy logic approach is used. Three different models are developed, considering three defuzzification methods, namely Centroid, Bisector and smallest of maximum (SOM). The model is tested using data from the year 2022. The simulation results show that the SOM prediction values are less precise, with a mean error of 13 %. In contrast, the other two methods generate the more reasonable and satisfactory values which are closer to the actual load, with the mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) less than 8.5 %. The result obtained demonstrate that the proposed model is capable of accurately forecasting future load for Taroudannt province.

The paper presents a comparative study of a nearly zero-energy office building with respect to two different cities located in two different climate zones: a humid continental climate with dry winter, represented by the city of Seoul and a hot semi-arid climate, represented by the city of Benguerir. Obviously, climate is one of the most influential factors affecting indoor thermal comfort, energy demand and energy self-sufficiency of nZEBs. In this study, we first assess the impact of regional climate on the thermal performance, and we explore the influence of the local natural energy sources on the Solar BIPV and PV outputs in the two different cities: Benguerir and Seoul, respectively. And then, we explore the overall energy self-sufficiency of the nZEB for the respective climates. The differences in thermal need and energy self-sufficiency responses were statistically significant. With respect to Benguerir, the thermal energy needs for cooling amount to 71.5 kWh/m²/year, with almost no heating thermal needs and the Energy Balance (EB) reaches 0.88. On the other side, these metrics are around 52.56 kWh/m²/year for the total thermal needs with a share of 43% for heating thermal needs and a yearly EB equals to 0.6 for the nZEB in Seoul. Finally, it is important to mention that the BIPV output share out of the total solar energy output amounts to 57% and 61% for the cities of Seoul and Benguerir, respectively, which highlight the important role of BIPV in reaching advanced levels of energy self-sufficiency.

Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANETs) are decentralized and self-configuring networks composed of mobile devices that communicate without a fixed infrastructure. However, the open nature of MANETs makes them vulnerable to various security threats, including blackhole attacks, where malicious nodes attract and discard network traffic without forwarding it to its intended destination. Mitigating blackhole attacks is crucial to ensure the reliability and security of communication in MANETs. This paper focuses on the development and evaluation of AODV (Ad hoc On-Demand Distance Vector)-based defence mechanisms for effectively mitigating blackhole attacks in MANETs, while simultaneously addressing energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. AODV is a widely used routing protocol in MANETs due to its on-demand nature and low overhead. However, it lacks built-in security mechanisms, making it susceptible to attacks. We incorporate energyaware route selection, solar-powered routing, collaborative energy sharing, energy-efficient intrusion detection, green routing optimization, and energy harvesting from environmental sources. By considering energy consumption and environmental factors in the route selection process, our defense mechanism not only enhances the security of the network but also contributes to energy conservation and reduced environmental impact. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed defence mechanisms, extensive simulations and performance analyses are conducted using network simulation tools. Through simulation-based evaluations, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach in achieving robust blackhole attack mitigation while extending the network’s lifetime and minimizing its carbon footprint. Our research offers valuable insights into the development of energy-efficient and environmentally sustainable solutions for securing MANETs in the face of evolving security threats.

This paper proposed a method to forecast thermal comfort conditions and energy efficiently in air-conditioned classrooms. Room comfort parameters such as temperature and wind speed are simulated using the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) tool. To evaluate the results, we used objective measurements, CFD modeling, and subjective assessment. The results from the field measurements compared and contrasted the predicted values by the survey. The predicted results show the reasonable distribution of airflow characteristics, temperature gradients, and these characteristics are consistent with experimental measurements which are within the limits of the thermal comfort standards. The neutral temperature which was found from the questionnaires was 29.2oC with 52.4% of the students feeling comfortable at the neutral level. In addition, recommendations have been made to improve thermal comfort conditions and reduce the accumulation of carbon dioxide concentrations in classrooms.

The work is devoted to improving the energy efficiency of the boiler house by introducing more modern equipment with improved technical and economic characteristics. A drawing of this equipment is presented. The heat engineering calculation of the heat exchanger is performed. The problems of concession agreements of heat supply organizations are formulated. The mechanism of interaction of public-private regulation is described. The paper outlines how important it is to have a rational energy saving mechanism. The advantages and disadvantages of concessions are noted. An example of foreign experience in the use of concession agreements is given. This article touches on the topic of reducing energy consumption, including due to the transition to a different type of coolant in the boiler room. Based on the specifics of the object of heat consumption of the boiler house, the most rational heat carrier instead of water vapor is hot water, as can be seen from the above calculations. The principle of operation and the feasibility of using a waterwater heat exchanger are described. In the work, the author transfers the heat exchanger to another type of coolant, as well as to another design of the heat exchanger. The advantages and disadvantages of the equipment are given. The work carried out a constructive heat engineering calculation. An assessment is made of the contribution to the modernization of heat supply systems, due to the effective interaction of heat supply organizations with specialized heat supply companies.

Driven by energy efficiency requirements and legal restrictions like F-Gas Regulation Heat Pump OEM supplier are looking for alternative refrigerant solutions. HFO based low GWP refrigerants can help increasing the system efficiency, expanding the operating temperature range while reducing CO2 emissions. For building restoration in particular, high flow temperatures (for existing hydronic heating system) are essential for convenient and cost-and energy-efficient replacements of fossil fuel boilers. A2L classified refrigerants provide extended application range at highest safety level versus A3 classified refrigerants, but R-32 still carries a Global Warming Potential (GWP) of 675 making it a transitional solution. This paper compares different relevant parameters and points out the advantages provided by HFO A2L low GWP refrigerants (like R-454B and R-454C) for a wide capacity range of air to water and brine to water heat pumps. A special focus is put on the application of building restoration.

Domestic energy use can be directly influenced by personal choices. These choices include the selection of equipment (efficiency), mode of equipment use, consumer behaviour but also by self-production of electricity, space heating and/or cooling. Intelligent meters showing the actual use of electricity give insight in domestic energy use and is crucial in decreasing domestic energy use. However, households need better access to knowledge and experiences of experts to understand the potential choices to decrease their use of energy. Housing and equipment ‘labelling’ can give some support with these choices, but need to be more uniform and clear. Households controlling their own usage of energy and home production of electricity can make substantial savings on their energy bills. The paper describes experiences in practical situations using long term scientific and professional experiences.

Producing electricity at an affordable price while taking into account environmental concerns has become a major challenge in Morocco. Moreover, the technical and financial issues related to renewable electricity plants are still hindering their efficient integration in the country. In fact, the energy sector (both electricity and heat) accounted for more than half of all Greenhouse Gases (GHG) emissions in the kingdom due to the major reliance on fossil fuels for answering the growing local demand. The key strategies to alleviate this critical situation include the integration of more renewable energies in the total energy mix and the enhancement of energy efficiency measures in different sectors. This paper strives to (1) evaluate the potential of carbon dioxide mitigation in Moroccan electricity sector following the actual and projected strategies and (2) highlight the policy schemes to be taken in order to achieve the ambitious carbon dioxide mitigation targets in the mid-term. A system dynamics model was built in order to simulate different scenarios of carbon dioxide mitigation policies up to 2030. The results shows that the achievement of renewable energies projects by 2030 could save 228.143 MtCO2 between 2020 and 2030 and an additional 18.127 MtCO2 could be avoided in the same period by enhancing energy efficiency measures.

Economic disparity is still a major problem threatening Indonesia’s future prosperity. Spatial inequality between rural and urban areas remain to exist and is driven by unequal access to and unaffordable cost of the traditional electricity infrastructures. The national electrification ratio reached 91.16 % in 2016. This paper evaluates the feasibility of reforming existing regulations for Indonesia's electricity sector in its light to reduce economic disparities between-regions and intra- regions in Indonesia. A systematic review of the literature on the publications and research reports is used to provide inputs for revising the regulations of the electricity sector to address more focused mission-oriented objectives. Empirical models are discussed and established to predict the cost-saving from the reduction of CO2 emission by applying the technological solutions for renewable energy and energy efficiency. This study finds a cost-saving of Rp. 135 trillion per 40.000 hours-use for the whole electricity consumers in Indonesia that can be converted into financial instruments to support the development of electricity infrastructure in the disadvantaged regions. In the end, the study concludes that there is a clear financial benefit, in the form of opportunity cost, for reforming narration of the electricity policy and further transforming the institutional arrangement.
