To describe the choroidal retinal microvascular system in Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada (VKH) subjects and furnish additional proof for the early authentication and treatment of VKH suffers. From the beginning to July 2023, a comprehensive search for issued articles on optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) among VKH sufferers was implemented in Embase, PubMed, and Web of Science databases. SFCT and CT in the active phase exceeded those in normal and remission examinees (all of them p < 0.00001). In terms of the patients with remission, their FAZ was bigger than that in normal subjects. (MD =0.04, p < 0.0001). Retinal and choroidal microvasculatures are characteristically changed in active VKH patients, which suggests that OCTA can be used as a tool for VKH follow-up. AbstractPurposeMethodsResultsConclusionsto assess the changes in the macular structure in children with history of prematurity and to find the relationship between retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) treatment and macular ultrastructural changes found in optical coherence tomography angiography study.a search for identifying relevant studies published in English using PubMed, Google Scholar, Scopus, and Web of Science databases from the date of inception to 21 October 2022 was conducted. Studies were included if their subjects were >5 years and used Optovue device for imaging. Twelve studies were included for final analysis. After extracting data, foveal avascular zone (FAZ), vessel density (VD) of superficial capillary plexus (SCP) and deep capillary plexus (DCP) in the foveal and parafoveal area, central foveal thickness (CFT), and visual acuity (VA) were compared between the study groups.in individual who were born full term the FAZ was significantly larger. The SCP and DCP VD was significantly higher in children with history of ROP treatment. Superficial parafoveal VD was significantly lower in term children than both treated groups. The CFT was significantly higher in children with history of ROP (treated and untreated) than the terms. VA was lower in laser and IVI treated children than terms and it was related to the changes in CFT, foveal superficial and deep VD and FAZ area.Patients with a history of ROP treatment have a significantly greater CFT, higher VD of foveal SCP and DCP, and lower VA than the term-born children. Purpose: To summarize the association between diabetic retinopathy and refractory status as well as ocular biometric parameters; To review the theories of the protective effect of high myopia against diabetic retinopathy. Methods: A comprehensive literature search on MEDLINE, EMBASE, Web of Science and Scopus databases as well as reference list search, and systematic review of relevant publications. Results: Myopia may delay the onset and progression of diabetic retinopathy. Increased axial length in myopia is associated with reduced risk of any diabetic retinopathy and vision-threatening diabetic retinopathy. The possible mechanisms for the protective effect of myopia against diabetic retinopathy may include posterior vitreous detachment, change in retinal blood flow and oxygen demand, choroidal thinning and altered cytokine profiles. Conclusions: High myopia may be a protective factor against the onset and progression of diabetic retinopathy. Further studies about the mechanisms of how myopia, axial length and ocular biometrics influence the onset and progression of DR are needed. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose: The eye is currently at the forefront of translational medicine and therapeutics. However, despite advances in technology, primary open-angle glaucoma remains the leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide. Traditional intraocular pressure (IOP)-lowering therapies are often not sufficient to prevent progression to blindness, even in patients with access to high-quality healthcare. Neuroprotection strategies, which aim to boost the ability of target cells to withstand a pathological insult, have shown significant promise in animal models but none have shown clinically relevant efficacy in human clinical trials to date. We sought to evaluate the current status of neuroprotection clinical trials for glaucoma and identify limitations which have prevented translation of new glaucoma therapies to date. Methods: Literature searches identified English language references. Sources included MEDLINE, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library and Web of Science databases; reference lists of retrieved studies; and internet pages of relevant organisations, meetings and conference proceedings, and clinical trial registries. Results: We discuss six key neuroprotective strategies for glaucoma that have reached the clinical trial stage. Delivery of neurotrophic factors through gene therapy is also progressing towards glaucoma clinical trials. Refinements in trial design and the use of new modalities to define structural and functional endpoints may improve our assessment of disease activity and treatment efficacy. Advances in our understanding of compartmentalised glaucomatous degeneration and continued progress in the molecular profiling of glaucoma patients will enable us to predict individual risk and tailor treatment. Conclusion: New approaches to future glaucoma neuroprotection trials could improve the prospects for new glaucoma therapies. Background: Interleukin-6 (IL-6) is produced by a variety of cells involved in inflammation and acts as local intensification signals in pathological processes associated with chronic eye inflammation. This meta-analysis was performed to provide a better understanding of the relationship between IL-6 and diabetic retinopathy. Methods: The study was started with systematic search for literatures by using the PubMed, Web of Science and Embase online databases. The standard mean difference (SMD) and its 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were was included and then pooled with a random effects model. Results: Thirty-one articles, containing1099 DR patients and 1010 controls, were included in this meta-analysis. The level of IL-6 in the DR group was found to be higher than that in the control group (SMD: 2.12, 95% CI: 1.53−2.70, p < 0.00001).Obvious heterogeneity existed between the studies (p < 0.00001, I2 = 96%). So a subgroup analysis and sensitivity analysis were performed. Removing the sensitivity studies, the stability of the overall treatment effect was good. Subgroup analysis showed that the levels of IL-6 in case group were observed to be higher than those in the control group; and the IL-6 levels in the proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) group were also higher than those in the non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy (NPDR) group. (SMD: 0.78, 95% CI: 0.26–1.31, p= 0.003) Conclusion: The results from this current meta-analysis indicated that increased level of IL-6 generally exist in DR patients.
