This article discusses the education of French King Louis XIV, with a particular focus on the study of his ancestry. The author comments on the link between Louis XIV and historical royalty, including his mother Ana of Austria, his grandmother Marie de Medici, who herself was the granddaughter of Emperor Ferdinand I. She also considers the relationship between Louis XIV and Charles V and Philip II. The importance of kinship and familial relations in the inheritance and the claim to the throne is also examined.
The article studies "Memoria sobre la utilidad del establecimiento de una escuela de comercio," an anonymous text on the principles of the study of economics and commerce, originating in Spain in 1776 or 1777, with a focus on how the document was influenced by the thinking of economists from other European countries. In particular, it examines references in the document to "Prospectus d'un nouveau dictionnaire de commerce" and other works by French economist André Morellet.
