Many skills are needed to be a successful CTE teacher. A simple search of readily available online databases finds that classroom management is one of the most critical skills teachers need. Classroom management involves creating a learning environment that keeps CTE students safe and focused on learning tasks. Thus, the purpose of this paper is multiple-fold: (1) to provide an overview of selected classroom management literature, (2) to offer CTE teachers a menu of strategies for possible use in their respective educational settings, and (3) to share classroom management insights of an educator with extensive CTE teaching and administrative experience in public K-12 schools. The NSF-funded CareDEX Team, in conjunction with a partner Senior Living Community (SLC), University of California Irvine student volunteers, and several local First Responder agencies, conducted a disaster response exercise and experiment. In this study, the participating volunteer students were surveyed regarding their drill experience and the efficacy of that experience related to their chosen career path. A qualitative and quantitative analysis of this questionnaire data is presented. The results of the experiment and coded response data indicate that the participants, overall, viewed the exercise as a positive learning and career experience; specifically, they noted gaining an appreciation for the challenges older adults face with technology use and disaster response. Biometrics are a large step forward in securing information and data. With these advancements, there is the desire to implement biometric technology everywhere. In most places, it would be a straightforward implementation, but in K-12 schools it could pose a risk to children's privacy. The biometric information utilized by the school administration could be stolen or used maliciously. Along with the security risks, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) issues could prevent schools from using the biometrics. The purpose of this study is to investigate how virtual learning days have impacted students, parents, teachers, and school administrators. In areas where inclement weather results in school cancellations, virtual learning days provide an alternative that allows for continued instruction on those days. The Indiana Department of Education has established a policy that sets requirements for what can be considered an approved virtual learning day. This study surveyed superintendents throughout Indiana to determine the impact virtual learning days have had on their stakeholders. The survey found that the stakeholders would rather use virtual learning days than have to make up the lost instruction due to school cancellations. The purpose of this article is to explore Indiana's state and local policies; challenges and issues; and best practices in the use of virtual learning days for lost instructional days. The Indiana Department of Education permits school districts to use virtual learning days as alternatives to make-up days for lost instructional time due to inclement weather. A case study methodology was utilized to investigate the policies and procedures public schools in the state of Indiana adopted in order to offer virtual learning days. In many areas of the United States, inclement weather such as snow, ice, and extreme cold have been the source of lost instructional days for many school districts. In order to meet state educational guidelines, school districts typically require students to makeup the lost instructional days at other times. This could consist of days built into the school calendar for such events or days added to the end of the academic year.
