Abstract

The article discusses the physiological implications of anorexia nervosa. It points out that typical anorexic patients are hypotensive and bradycardiac said to be physiological markers for hospitalization. It indicates that a complete history must be taken during the preoperating assessment of patients with anorexia nervosa where a detailed physical examination may show anorexia nervosa and signs of physiological abnormalities. It suggest the importance in correcting the physiological derangement to optimize patient safety and conduct proper anaesthesia.
