Abstract

The article elucidates the character of Martin Heidegger's historicism, through a reading of certain relevant sections of Heidegger's magnum opus. It states that authenticity leaves room for human thought to operate independently of the historical situation. It reflects that historicism, the idea that all human thought is a product of its time and place, dissolves philosophy according to Strauss and other scholars.
