Abstract

Abstract: In this paper, for the first time, the structure-preserving Gauss transformation is defined. Then by means of its real representation matrix, we present a novel structure-preserving algorithm for the LU decomposition of a quaternion matrix. Numerical experiments show that the structure-preserving algorithm is better than that in the newest quaternion toolbox for matlab (QTFM). [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Abstract: In this paper, an iterative algorithm for the standard quaternionic least squares problem is proposed without using the real (complex) representation. Our algorithm is implemented in the quaternion field and by means of direct quaternion arithmetic and is a natural generalization of the LSQR algorithm for the real least squares problem.
