Currently, the games industry has no real research organization developing the next generation technology for building games. The article focuses on the International Game Developers Association (IGDA) committees, who explore the needs of game developers, students, and academic institutions to develop its Curriculum Framework in the U.S. The IGDA is comprised of professional games educators and industry veterans, who espouses a template for games education. It includes topics such as critical game studies, games and society, game design, game programming, visual design, audio design, interactive storytelling, and game production.
