An engineering analysis procedure is presented for assessing the buckling load of beam plates having single and multiple delaminations, and with various supporting conditions. Free and constrained mode models are considered. Results based on these two models are complementing each other in estimating the buckling load of delaminated beam plates. Some numerical results for a clamped-clamped beam are presented for illustrative purposes.

An analysis procedure is presented for determining interface stresses and strain energy release rate for skin/stiffener systems containing delaminations at the interface of skin and stiffener flange. The previously developed analyses for the system without delaminations are used and extended for the present problem following the concept of continuous analysis. Convergence of solutions are examined and noted from the numerical results. Examples are presented for illustrative purposes.

Stresses in composite cylindrical shells rotating with a constant speed about their longitudinal axis are analyzed. Each ply or ply group is treated as a separate thin layer of homogeneous and orthotropic material under the interfacial stresses as surface loading. There is no limitation on the total thickness of the shell. The circumferential stress, motivated by the conventional thin shell theory, is assumed to vary linearly through the thickness of the layer. The radial stress is determined in terms of the circumferential stress through the equilibrium condition, and an average compatibility condition through the thickness of the thin layer is used. Numerical results using the present analysis show nearly perfect agreement with the exact solution for homogeneous and isotropic cylinders. Some results for cylinders having orthotropic layers are presented for illustrative purposes.
