Abstract

The article discusses the digital business ecosystem (DBE), defining the DBE as a concept and technology designed to provide a flexible infrastructure which will tie a region's economic development to the support of its local trade and industry by developing software. By creating a DBE, the authors indicate, local infrastructures will federate regional cooperation by developing nodes of innovation and by integrating pan-European initiatives. Also discussed are the software methodologies used and biological concepts of self-organization.
