An interview with James DiCarlo, Head of the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at the McGovern Institute for Brain Research, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, is presented. Topics include his research focus on understanding the neuronal representations and algorithms that underlie visual object recognition in primates, the way a damaged temporal lobe leads to deficits of recognition in primates, and his predictive model that can record neural activity in core recognition.

An interview with Dora Angelaki, Wilhelmina Robertson Professor and Chair of the Department of Neuroscience at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, is presented. Angelaki talks about how neurons that process sensory information can predict animal behavior during a simple perceptual task, what the field of multisensory integration is all about, and her experiments in multisensory integration that looked at the integration of visual and vestibular information in monkeys.

An interview with Tony Zador, Program Chair in Neuroscience at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory in New York, is presented. Zador discusses the importance of understanding connectomes or how neurons connect to result in thought, feelings or behavior, why sequencing the connectome might be a novel way of understanding the connection, and how sequencing could help in the study of brain circuits and in identifying genes involved in disorders such as autism.
