The article presents a review of the relationship of various physical exercises and cognition in older adults with and without cognitive decline. Exercise programs include aerobic, strength, flexibility or balance exercise, or combinations thereof. The effects of the programs on neuropsychological outcomes were then determined. Results showed that improvements were observed in memory, information processing abilities and executive function or word fluency among cognitively healthy adults. In older adults with cognitive decline, improvements were seen in general cognitive function and executive functions, such as category fluency, trail making and clock drawing.
