Abstract This report presents an unusual case of multiple paraovarian cysts that required emergency surgery due to a paraovarian cyst being entrapped by another paraovarian cyst. Laparoscopic surgery is considered useful for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes and is, therefore, recommended owing to difficulty in differentiating paraovarian cysts from ovarian cysts.

Adenocarcinomas of intestinal type arising in mature cystic teratoma of ovary (MCT) are extremely rare and remain a diagnostic dilemma because of its similarities with MCT. Serum tumor markers CEA and SCC and also MRI may help in the preoperative diagnosis. Pathologist experience helps in intraoperative diagnosis.

Abstract

Mature cystic teratoma, the most common type of ovarian teratoma, is also the most common ovarian germ cell-derived neoplasm and it account for ∽20% of all ovarian tumors 1. Endometriosis coexisting with mature cystic teratoma in the same ovary is extremely rare, although both benign conditions are said to be common in women in the reproductive age group. We report a rare case of coexistence of endometriosis and mature cystic teratoma in the same ovary combined with fimbrial ectopic pregnancy.
