ABSTRACT Pruning guava trees at different times is an important management tool that allows year-long staggering of fruit production. In this context, this study aimed to evaluate the phenological characteristics, yield and fruit quality of the 'Paluma' guava tree at different pruning times in Botucatu, SP. The study used a completely randomized design with four treatments, four replicates and a useful experimental plot plant. The treatments consisted of four different pruning times, August 27, September 11, September 26 and October 11. The following phenological phases were evaluated: branch establishment, flowering, early fruiting, fruit ripening and harvesting. It was determined the number of flower buds, fixed fruits and fixation index fruit were determined. The fruit growth curve was obtained by measuring the transverse and longitudinal diameter. At the time of harvest, the number of fruits per plant, yield and productivity were measured. In the harvested fruits, the fresh mass, the transverse and longitudinal diameter, the flesh and core thickness, the flesh and core mass, soluble solids, titratable acidity and pH were determined. The 'Paluma' guava trees pruned in August showed higher phenological stage durations than the other pruning times; however, those pruned in early September showed higher fixation index fruit, fruit yield and better physical characteristics. The guava trees pruned in August showed lower titratable acidity values and higher soluble solids/titratable acidity ratio.

O conhecimento dos atributos pós-colheita dos frutos de novos genótipos é uma importante informação que auxilia o melhorista em sua tomada de decisão. Neste trabalho, objetivou-se avaliar as características físico-químicas de frutos de genótipos de 3 grupos genômicos de bananeira: 'Nanicão-IAC-2001', 'Grande Naine', 'Caipira' e 'Nam' (AAA); 'Maçã', 'Thap Maeo', 'Prata Anã' e 'Prata Zulu' (AAB); 'Fhia 01', 'Fhia 18', 'Prata Graúda' e 'Tropical' (AAAB), no município de Botucatu-SP. As características avaliadas foram: textura, pH, acidez titulável, sólidos solúveis, açúcares solúveis totais, teores de amido e potássio. Foi adotado o delineamento experimental inteiramente casualizado, com 12 tratamentos (genótipos), cinco repetições, sendo que em cada repetição utilizaram-se cinco frutos. Utilizou-se o teste de tukey (Pd" 0,05) para a comparação entre médias de genótipos, dentro de cada grupo genômico. Os resultados mostraram que no grupo AAA, Nam se destacou apresentando frutos mais firmes, com maior teor de sólidos solúveis e amido. Do grupo AAB, 'Prata Zulu' apresentou frutos mais firmes, com maior teor de açúcares solúveis totais e amido e menor acidez. No grupo dos híbridos AAAB, 'Tropical' apresentou maior teor de potássio e amido, no entanto, menor teor de sólidos solúveis e açúcares solúveis totais.The knowledge of the post-harvest characteristics of new banana genotypes is important an information that helps the breeder in making a decision. This work had the objective of evaluating the fruit physical and chemical characteristics of genotypes of three banana genomic groups: 'Nanicão-IAC-2001', 'Grande Naine', 'Caipira', and 'Nam' (AAA); 'Maçã', 'Thap Maeo', 'Prata Anã', and 'Prata Zulu' (AAB); 'Fhia 01', 'Fhia 18', 'Prata Graúda', and 'Tropical' (AAAB) in Botucatu region, São Paulo state, Brazil. The evaluated characteristics were: firmness, pH, titratable acidity, soluble solids, total soluble sugars, starch, and potassium contents. The experimental design was completely randomized, with 12 treatments (genotypes), five replications and each replication consisting of five fruits. The method used was the Tukey test (Pd" 0.05) for the characterization of genotypes within each genomic group. The results showed that in the AAA group, Nam stood out due to the firmest fruits and the highest levels of soluble solids and starch. In the AAB group, 'Prata Zulu' presented the firmest fruits, the highest levels of total soluble sugars and starch, and the lowest acidity. In the AAAB group of hybrids, 'Tropical' had highest content of potassium and starch, however, lowest content of soluble solids and total soluble sugars.

Objetivou-se, no trabalho, buscar opções ao ensacamento de pêssegos, visando o controle eficiente das principais pragas do pessegueiro. Para isso, instalou-se um experimento em um pomar comercial de pêssego do cultivar Aurora 2, conduzido em sistema de vaso e espaçamento de 6 x 4 m. Os tratamentos foram os seguintes: T1 - Sacolas de TNT branco (45 g/m²) fechado, T2 - Sacolas de TNT branco (45 g/m²) aberto, T3 - Sacolas de TNT branco (20 g/m²) fechado; T4 - Sacolas de TNT branco (20 g/m²) aberto; T5 - Sacolas de polipropileno microperfurado transparente (furos de 1mm) fechado; T6 - Sacolas de polipropileno microperfurado transparente (furos de 1mm) aberto; T7 - Sacolas de polipropileno microperfurado transparente (furos de 2mm) fechado; T8 - Sacolas de polipropileno microperfurado transparente (furos de 2mm) aberto; T9 - Sacolas de polietileno microperfurado leitoso (furos de 1mm) fechado; T10 - Sacolas de polietileno microperfurado leitoso (furos de 1mm) aberto; T11 - Sacolas de polietileno microperfurado leitoso (furos de 2mm) fechado; T12 - Sacolas de polietileno microperfurado leitoso (furos de 2mm) aberto; T13 - Sacolas de papel impermeável fechado; T14 - Sacolas de papel impermeável aberto; T15 - Testemunha (sem ensacamento). De acordo com os resultados concluiu-se que todas as embalagens foram eficientes no controle de moscas-das-frutas e pássaros, porém não para mariposa oriental. As sacolas com abertura no fundo podem ser utilizadas como opção ao ensacamento de pêssegos.Aiming to look for new options of peach bagging in the control of peach insect pests, an experiment was carried out in a treeyear-old peach crop. The cultivar Aurora 2 was accomplished in vase system with 6 m among rows and 4 m among plants. The treatments were: T1 - white and closed TNT (tissue non-tissue) bag (45g/m²), T2 - white and opened TNT bag (45g/m²), T3 - white and closed TNT bag (20g/m²), T4 - white and opened TNT bag (20g/m²), T5 - transparent polypropelene microperfurated and closed bag (1mm of diameter), T6 - transparent polypropelene microperfurated and opened bag (1mm of diameter), T7 - transparent polypropelene microperfurated and closed bags (2mm of diameter), T8 - transparent polypropelene microperfurated and opened bag (2mm of diameter), T9 - milky microperfurated polyetilene and closed bag (1mm of diameter), T10 - milky microperfurated polyetilene and opened bag (1mm of diameter), T11 - milky microperfurated polyetilene and closed bag (2mm of diameter), T12 - milky microperfurated polyetilene and opened bags (2mm of diameter), T13 - closed and waterproof paper bag, T14 - opened and waterproof paper bag, T15 - check treatment (unbagging fruits). According to the results, it may be concluded that all bags are efficient to control fruit flies and birds, but not the oriental fruit moth. The opened bags may be used in peach bagging.

Objetivou-se com este trabalho caracterizar os produtores de bananeira 'Maçã' do município de Ribeirão do Sul/SP, quanto à tecnologia empregada no cultivo da frutífera e à produção obtida. A partir desta avaliação preliminar, pretendeu-se estabelecer algumas inferências com relação à incidência da doença "Mal-do-Panamá" e o diagnóstico nutricional das propriedades. Através dos questionários aplicados, bem como das análises foliares e de solo, detectou-se que os produtores realizam a prática da adubação e calagem sem resultados de análise de solo, não realizam análises foliares e que os teores de nutrientes no solo e nas folhas apresentam-se em níveis desbalanceados para muitas propriedades avaliadas. A incidência da doença "Mal-do-Panamá" foi considerada baixa ou ausente em 65% das propriedades avaliadas.The research aimed to characterize banana 'Maçã' farmers of Ribeirão do Sul/SP region, regarding the technology applied to the crop and in the fruit yield. With the answers obtained, it was possible to establish some inferences in relation to the "Mal do-Panamá disease incidence and the mineral nutrition. It was observed that these farmers used manurig and liming without the use of the soil analyses and that they had never performed foliar analyses. Consequently, soil and leaves nutrients levels were not balanced for most of the evaluated plantation. The "Mal-do-Panamá" disease incidence was considered low or not present in 65% of the studied orchards.

O experimento foi realizado no período de agosto a dezembro de 2004, em vinhedo de 'Niagara Rosada' localizado em Pratânea-SP. O objetivo foi avaliar o efeito de bioestimulante nas características morfológicas e físico-químicas dos cachos de uva 'Niagara Rosada'. Os tratamentos consistiram na pulverização dos cachos com o bioestimulante nas doses de 0, 5, 10, 15 e 20 mg L-1, 25 dias após o pleno florescimento. O delineamento estatístico utilizado foi em blocos ao acaso com cinco repetições, e parcelas constituídas por 3 cachos. Analisou-se a massa fresca, comprimento e largura dos cachos e bagos, massa fresca do engaço, número de bagos por cacho, diâmetro do pedicelo, teor de sólidos solúveis totais, acidez titulável e o pH. Concluiu-se que o bioestimulante promoveu aumento linear no comprimento do cacho, aumento quadrático no diâmetro do pedicelo e um decréscimo linear no teor de sólidos solúveis totais.The experiment was made during august until dezember/2004 period, in grape orchard of 'Niagara Rosada' located at Pratânea region, São Paulo, Brazil. The research had as purpose to study the effects of plant growth regulator (Stimulate) on morphological and physical-chemical characteristics of 'Niagara Rosada' grape. The clusters were sprayed with plant growth regulator solution at 0, 5, 10, 15 e 20mg L-1, 25 days after flowering. The experimental design was at randomized blocks with five replications and tree clusters per parcels. It was evaluated: the fresh weight of clusters and rachis, pedicel diameter, total soluble solids contents, titratable acid and pH. The plant growth regulator spraying increased the clusters length and pedicel diameter and decreased the soluble solids contents.

Objetivou-se com este experimento avaliar o estado nutricional de figueira (Ficus carica L., cv. Roxo de Valinhos) conduzida durante o estágio de formação (dois anos agrícolas), submetida a níveis crescentes de potássio. O experimento foi conduzido em área do Pomar da Fazenda Experimental Lageado, da Faculdade de Ciências Agronômicas, Campus de Botucatu. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi em blocos casualizados com quatro repetições e seis tratamentos, dispostos em esquema de parcelas subdivididas no tempo. Os tratamentos constituíram-se de seis níveis de adubação potássica (0, 30, 60, 90, 120 e 150 g. planta-1 de K2O) aplicados em cobertura. Foram realizadas avaliações do estado nutricional das plantas mediante amostragens de folhas e pecíolos cinco meses após a poda de inverno. Os teores nutricionais obtidos no segundo ano agrícola revelaram a manifestação de interação competitiva entre potássio e magnésio nas dosagens acima de 50 g. planta-1 de K2O. Os teores de nitrogênio e enxofre não foram afetados pelas doses crescentes de potássio e os de fósforo tiveram aumentos lineares.Potassium rates were evaluated in fig trees cv Purple of Valinhos during first development years. The experimental design was in randomized blocks with four replications and six treatments. The plots were splited in the evaluations months. The treatments were six potassium fertilization rates (0, 30, 60, 90, 120 and 150 g per plant of K2O). The potassium fertilization was made in covering. The nutrients contents of fig trees were evaluated five months after the winter pruning, through the leafs and petioles samples. In the second year, the nutrients contents showed to be competition between potassium and magnesium in the rates higher than 50 g of K2O per plant. The nitrogen and sulfur contents were not modified by the increases in the potassium rates. The phosphorus rates had linear increases.
