- Abstract
Osteoporosis( OP) is an orthopedic disease characterized by decreased bone mass, decreased bone mineral density, damaged bone microstructure, and multiple fractures. At present, western medicine is the main treatment for OP, but the curative effect is not ideal. Therefore, it is necessary to find a drug treatment scheme to cure OP. With the development of traditional medicine research on OP, we find that icariin can promote bone formation, improve bone metabolism balance, and increase bone mineral density through MAPK signaling pathway, thus playing an anti-OP role. Therefore, we combine icariin and MAPK signaling pathway to promote osteoblast proliferation and differentiation, to inhibit osteoclast differentiation, and to promote osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells. The research progress of icariin mediated MAPK signaling pathway in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis is reviewed in order to provide new ideas for clinical treatment of OP in the future.
