- Abstract
Osteoporosis is a common chronic disease leading to osteopenia, reduced strength, bone pain and fragile fractures. It affects the health of most middle-aged and elderly people worldwide. Calcium, vitamin D supplements, bisphosphonates, estrogens and other medications are used to focus on preventing and delaying bone resorption. Osteoporosis requires targeted therapeutics that are precise in cell dynamics and differentiation. Through continuous exploration and study of the signaling pathways involved in osteoporosis, we found that Wnt/β-catenin is extremely important in normal bone growth and metabolism. β-catenin is a key molecule mediating the survival and differentiation of osteoblasts. New drugs such as Romozumab and Denosumab are involved in the regulation of osteoporosis by regulating the activity of Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway, which affects the osteogenesis of BMSC, the proliferation and differentiation of osteoblasts and the generation of osteoclasts. This article summarizes the specific role of β-catenin in the regulation of osteoblasts, osteoclasts and osteoporosis. We explore the research progress of Wnt proteins and β, catenin in order to discover more innovative targets for the treatment of osteoporosis. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
