The Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST) is a Chinese mega-science project to build the largest single dish radio telescope in the world. A unique karst depression in Guizhou Province has been selected as the site to build an active reflector radio telescope with a diameter of 500 m and to realize the large sky coverage and high precision astronomical observations. Chinese Academy of Sciences and Guizhou Province are in charge of the FAST construction. The first light of the telescope was realized on September 25, 2016.
