Abstract

The article presents the results of a study on the impact of pre- and postoperative chemotherapy on the pulmonary function tests (PFT) in patients with stage I or II non-small cell lung cancer. According to the authors, the baseline scores of PFT varied with smoking status of patients. They add that 2 out of 85 patients did not undergo surgery because of PFT reduction after chemotherapy. They indicate that the diffusing capacity of the lung for carbon monoxide did not affect the ability to undergo surgical resection.
